Follow your guide on a 45-minute hike through the coffee plantations and cloud forest of Cerro Verde National Park en route to the crater, where a panoramic view of the surrounding volcanic line awaits. Continue to Santa Ana Volcano for a chance to see a dwarf-forest landscape distinct to Mesoamerica, followed by a trip to Coatepeque Lagoon at the summit of Cerro Verde. In the afternoon, visit the UNESCO-listed Joya de Ceren archaeological site to learn about daily life among the Mayan people who once lived there. Salvadorean Tours seems like an excellent company and Eduardo did a great job as guide. They provided a comfortable, spacious AC van and driver along with the guide. This tour covers a lot and is fascinating but do note that it is a very long day, about 11 hours for the one I attended. I would suggest to possibly shorten the time in the museum parts of the Mayan sites and let people look around on their own for 5-10 minutes inside to get a little background and read the displays, then focus more on the sites themselves, which are fascinating. And the volcano and hike around the crater in the national park was certainly the highlight, well worth the trip. Eduardo is knowledgeable, fun and energetic and really cares about his work. I am happy I selected Salvadorean Tours to help me make the most of my short visit to El Salvador.

I booked an airport shuttle pickup, group combo tour of volcanoes and Mayan ruins, and private trip to Montecristo National Park with pickup in San Salvador and drop off in Santa Ana. All pickups were prompt, all drivers were friendly and drove safely, and the guide on the volcanoes/mayan ruins tour did a good job. I would use Salvadorean Tours again. Solo traveler from the US.

Once again Mayra and Benji ensured that the trip was an incredible experience. Benji was on time and explained that Joya de Ceren was closed due to COVID-19 but that he would take me to another site close to Chalchuapa. He also asked me if I wanted to see the coast and make stops along the coast to see different food spots and bars.
Benji took me to eat pupusas at a local chain. Despite it being a chain it was very good. We made some stops to look at mountains and lakes. The views were amazing. He stopped anywhere I wanted to take a photo.
Once at Tuzmal, Benji handed me over to Gaby who went above and beyond. I enjoy history so speaking with her was a pleasure. She let me walk around and take tons of pictures. She never rushed me.
The way back was more of the same. Food, photos, and local dive bars. The ride back was amazing as the sun was getting ready to set.
Again, Benji is an amazing tour guide. I did this tour solo so that might influence my review. If you have the opportunity to do it solo do it.

Jan 2020 • Family
We booked three different tours and this one by far was my favorite. While each tour offered its gems this one seemed to be a full day of gems for me and my family. I was traveling with my husband and three children. Our guide Benjamin did a great job of not only providing information that was interesting to the adults in the group but also little things that my kids loved. Joya de Ceren was closed but we visited Cero Verde which was my kids favorite stop. This Nature preserve is gorgeous. With the help of our guide we spotted all types of birds and other wildlife. My kids are still talking about having seen a deer and her baby as well as how they felt like Indiana Jones walking through the Jungle. Truth be told if you have young kids its a long day but if they are grade school age and enjoy exploring nature this tour will keep them interested and willing to walk the extra mile. Thanks for the amazing memories Salvadorean Tours.

Well worth the tour. My tour guide, Benjamin Franklin, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and passionate about El Salvador.
The visit to volcanoes, lake and Mayan ruins was fun. I highly recommend the tour. El Salvador tourism industry is picking up, so it is worth to be among the first ones.

This was a great well rounded tour of nature and history that was a great option for anyone with limited time in El Salvador. We got to see some of the beautiful nature and also got a great tour of the Mayan ruins. Our guide Benjamin and driver Omar were very nice and Benjamin was extremely knowledgeable. Overall was great!

Came to El Salvador Friday for a wedding on Saturday, had one day left and i wanted to see as much as possible, this tour did it. My Guide Antonio was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about history and culture. Took alot of pictures. Tour has a little bit of everything. Nature, museums and historic sites and a few spots for souvenirs. My Spanish is basic at best, so I was glad that Antonio was a fluent English speaker. He had no problem understanding my Caribbean accent. He was accommodating and would often ask about my well being. I have spent a few years in the tourism industry, this tour was great.

Phenomenal trip. My wife and I booked this tour and it was amazing! Eduardo was a fantastic guide; funny, knowledgeable, informative just a pleasure to be around. There were 7 of us total on the tour, Emily from America, Pedro and Maria from Dallas, Leo and his family from Costa Rica and my wife and me and after the 10 hours together, we were long lost friends. This is a must do tour while in El Salvador!

Great day trip. Our group was small (4) but it made for deeper connections with our guide. The tour was jam-packed with the socio-political history of the area, which made for a very educational afternoon. We stopped by a massive crater-lake for lunch and feasted on the local fish from it. Our guide made sure everyone was safe, learning, having fun, and laughing. He even gave us lots of great recommendations for food in our neighborhood before dropping us off!

The tour was very interesting, but did involve strenuous hiking on about 25% of the hike. Highly recommend appropriate footwear.
Unfortunately, the day we went was very foggy so we didn't see the views from the top.
Our guides were very knowledgeable.

It depends on which travel company you choose. I had private transportation pick me up at the airport.

Is this available as a cruise shore excursion, maybe deleting the first volcano site if it's too far for the amount of available time?

If I'm understanding your question correctly? There is no cruise option as these locations can only be seen and reached by car and/or land travel.

Does this tour include the hike to the top of the Santa Ana volcano? I know that's around a 4-hour round trip hike, so I'm not sure if it's included since it's already a busy day trip.
Could we join thIs Combo tour from and end at the airport? We have the whole day layover in El Salvador the ETA 7:25am and ETD 8:00 pm. Thank you.

Hello Katherine, when I did the tour it was private because it was off season. You should ask directly to Salvadorean Tours.
For this combo tour, can we picked up from a residence rather than a hotel? We will be staying in our relative's home. Thank you.

You should ask the agency, but I am sure there will be no problem.
Does this tour take you to the top of the Santa Ana Volcano? Also, does it provide any coffee tour or tastings/samples, or are we just simply hiking across the plantation? Thank you!

It depends of time when you go. We was on winter time so it was just us two. But it is super, because you will have private tour for the same price and all day depends of you!:)
