Osmaro took us on an incredible journey of San Salvador and the surrounding areas. The volcano, rainbow slide, and historic center were the highlights. His knowledge of his country was second to none. He added depth and context to all the key places we visited and speaks fluent English. We had papusas for lunch which were DELICIOUS.
His passion for his country and touring people around was evident from the start. Thanks for an incredible day, highly recommend this tour company.

I chatted first to Osmaro via Whatsapp. I explained what I like to see and he put things in a perfect order for me and my sister.
Unfortunatley, Joya de Ceren was closed to the tourists on that day (for an unknown period of time actually), but made a tour to San Andreas, El Boqueron, Museo del Arte and San Salvador old town.
I recommend to visit the museum as it has many original paintings that obviously cannot be found in Europe or USA. There is a lot of dedication to shed light onto the Martinez regime, i.e. many paintings are inspired by the dark side of that time. Specifically for us, Osmaro found the painting of our uncle, Kamilo Minero.
He knows so many things and does not get bored of talking and answering questions.
San Salvador city was not scary at all, instead we enjoyed walking around the old town. My favorite highlight is the Rosario Church, that is very beautiful inside. From inside it reminded me Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
If you are in Latin America - book your tours. Osmaro will help you :)

My husband and I had the pleasure of taking multiple tours with Raphael and Osmario of Eco Tours Petate. As natives of El Salvador, we learned so much from our two days spent with them. From the culture, to the knowledge, and insight provided by the father and son, this tour was worth every penny. As a couple who travels often, we felt safe. We were able to experience both the popular attractions, and non-tourist areas and learn so much about the country and culture. If you are looking for a authentic experience of El Salvador with a passionate family owned company, do not hesitate to book a tour with this great company.

I recommend Eco Tours Petate for a tour of the San Salvador area. Great rates! I did the El Boqueron (volcano) National Park and San Salvador City Tour, which was about 4 hours long. They are open to pretty much taking you anywhere. Rafael provided a lot of useful historic facts about the area.

Rafael picked us up right on time at the hotel. Fabulous tour! Saw the volcano at El Boqueron Nat’l Park. Then took us over to Panchimalco for lunch and a look around before finishing up in downtown San Salvador. Rafael’s skills were superb as he navigated the narrow on twisting roads on our tours. Rafael was personable and very knowledgeable about the area and it’s history! Very safe and Covid appropriate!

Excellent experience! The tour was 5 stars - a nice mix of ES history, local sites, food & even some adrenaline. :) The tour guides (Osmaro y Ruby) were fantastic! Very professional & knowledgeable, yet super friendly & considerate. Would absolutely recommend this tour & Eco Tours Petate.

This was one of the best. The guide we had was the best. He was very informative. I can't express how nice and helpful he was. And the plus side he understood and spoke English. Which made things easier. I advise to ask questions. We were able to do a lot because we did not have a big tour. We had the best Pupusas. This was a great experience. Our tour guide we called him Os. He was the best.

This is a great tour to start off your vacation in San Salvador, it includes a nice car and walking tour of the capital. And of course, a visit to the majestic volcano at El Boqueron. Our guide Rafael was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, attentive and patient. Definitely recommend Eco Petate Tours!

Osmaro is an excellent tourist guide, he’s is very knowledgeable about his country and its history. We had a 7hrs stopover in El Salvador and taking a tour with him was the best we could have done. The tour we booked was to the volcano and the city and everything went as planned, we also got to eat the famous national dish called ‘Pupusas’. I highly recommend him and his company to whoever wants to go out in El Salvador. Thank you very much Osmaro, you have a home in Colombia too!
