Highlights
  • See the newly expanded “Panamax” locks at work from the Agua Clara Visitor Center
  • Avoid getting lost in the jungle of San Lorenzo National Park
  • Increase your chances of seeing the wildlife of Monkey Island with a guide
What to expect
  • After hotel pickup in an air-conditioned minibus, your tour begins with a boat ride on the waterways adjacent to the canal: you see jungle wildlife, navigate Gatun Lake, and watch massive ships pass through the canal. Visit the famous Monkey Island, home to capuchins, howlers, and tamarins, before traveling to the Caribbean side of Panama and the Agua Clara Visitor Center. Here, watch ships pass through the newly expanded “Panamax” locks from a canal-side observation deck and learn about the history, operation, and importance of the Panama Canal. Next, visit San Lorenzo National Park to see rainforest flora and fauna followed by a picnic lunch and a tour of Fort San Lorenzo, a 400-year-old Spanish fort on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. One of the most historically important spots in Panama, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fort repelled pirates as part of the defensive system that protected the transatlantic trade of the Spanish Crown. Your full-day tour ends with a return to your hotel in Panama City.

Great tour we saw a lot of monkeys that hopped onto our boat. Our guide provided some great recommendations for restaurants and hikes to go on too. Can't go wrong with this tour.

Our flight back home to the US was delayed by a day so we decided to do this trip. Wow, we are so glad we did. John the tour guide was a amazing. He was so knowledgeable about the history of Panama, the canal and the rain forest. We had a picnic type lunch at a fort, saw a white nosed coati while eating. They picked us up at out hotel at 0645 and back at 1500. We communicated with the company with the What's Up app. The managers/owners were great too.

Leo worked very hard to make the trip as pleasant as possible. If you want to see monkeys, do this trip. Seeing the Panama Canal was a once in a lifetime experience.

This was an absolutely one of the best activities we have done in a while. The tour was exactly as explained in the description. First off, our tour guide John and driver Manuel were awesome. John was at our hotel slightly before time (6:50am) for pickup so we didn’t have to wait. The mini-bus we were in was comfortable and air conditioned. There were a total of 3 couples on our tour. John is very knowledgeable and explained everything in English. The tour was managed very well. The picnic lunch was simple but healthy and nice. Our dietary preference (vegetarian) was taken care of as well. We were back at the hotel after a total of 8+ hours spent on the tour. Definitely recommend it.

Excellent tour, a day full with fun experiences: seeing Disney cruise pass the canal, boat ride with monkeys coming on board (sometimes they even step on you, and their paws are so soft...). Our guide was great and made every effort to make the day more special - spotted a sloth lounging in a tree, had a great pick nick place ready, made sure we could get good picks of canal and timed arrival so we could observe best the canal transit. Totally recommended!

John was our guide, and Antonio was our driver. Both were excellent and full of information, and we had a fabulous day! I am not sure if the highlight was literally riding in the Panama canal next to the huge boats, or seeing 3 different kinds of monkeys and having some of them jump on our boat, or watching ships go through the new locks or watching a sloth in a tree or walking around the fort or simply the chance to see both oceans in one day. All the experiences combined for a memorable and very enjoyable day!

We booked this tour in hopes of getting good footage for our YouTube channel and it exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this tour! The logistics and communications of the tour were perfect. John did an outstanding job of sharing his knowledge and perspectives on everything we saw. It truly felt like we went to day school to learn the history, politics, environment and future of this beautiful country. The Agua Clara Locks, the boat ride in the canal to the monkeys and Fort San Lorenzo were all amazing. There was also plenty of time for us to video and take photos for our social media channels. We highly recommend Panama Day Trips! Thank you John for a great day. The Retirement Travelers

My family of 7 including kids age 7 and grandparents age 67 loved the tour. First of all, I must give mad props to John our tour guide. His knowledge of all things Panama was incredible. We learned so much history about the canal, the country, the people and the animals. The whole trip was engaging and informative. Highlights for us were the monkeys climbing onto our boat, and the ruins. Lunch was fantastic too! Such a great way to spend a day really exploring Panama.

Having an articulate and knowledgeable English speaking tour guide like John made this trip exceptional. loved the history loved the boat ride with monkeys coming in the boat. loved seeing the canal locks and having a guide when I asked a technical question knew the answer. John must literally stay up at night reading because he new about everything... animals, plants, ships, you name it.
