Marlon (our driver) and Brenda (our guide) were awesome -- both super friendly and full of knowledge. Marlon was super engaging and we learned so much of modern day Guatemala speaking to him on our ride to and from Lake Atitlan. Brenda took us to destinations key to preservation of Mayan traditions and culture. She was also super friendly and helpful in finding us one of our best lunches. The lake and boat ride were simply amazing. Yes, the boat ride can be bumpy but that's nature and I wouldn't a bigger vessel polluting the lake. We highly recommend this tour.

Due to Tropical Storm Julia, the weather was a little chilly and there were downed trees on the main route to Lake Atitlan, but our driver took us the alternate route through the mountains and little villages. Although the drive there took a lot longer at no fault of our driver, everything worked out for an amazing experience! We stopped at a restaurant on the way - food and coffee was so good! We only had time for 2 villages once at Lake Atitlan but it still provided plenty of time to explore. Nicolas was an excellent guide! He explained so much about the local culture and answered all our questions. We enjoyed the coffee and textile demonstrations. We were able to use credit card, local currency, and US dollars for all our purchases at the stores and restaurants. Food was so good! I only wish it had been a clearer day, but despite cloudy conditions, we still really enjoyed the experience and managed to see some sun while on the boat from one village to the next. We would highly recommend this tour experience!!

If you are looking for a wonderful and SAFE experience, this is the tour for you. We visited San Juan, San Pedro and Santiago. The staff from GT Tours and Viajes are trustworthy, friendly and dependable. Even though it’s a guided tour they are flexible with doing what you prefer. I am very thankful to have done this tour with our driver Marlon, a fountain of knowledge, and our friendly and welcoming guide, David. Last note, November is the best time to travel to Guatemala as rainy season is over.

Family friendly tour to Lago Atitlan. Driver Marlon was punctual and friendly and when my son got carsick he stopped and bought some mineral water and medication for him. We also had a great time in the various towns around the lake visiting a cotton collective, honey collective, and churches and restaurants.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish, I can’t recommend this enough. Marlon was our driver and he picked us up from our hotel in Antigua at 6am sharp, in a pristine and comfortable van. He was amazing, we spent the whole trip in conversation, it was like we were traveling with a friend. Since there’s not really any breakfast options in Antigua before 6am, we stopped for a few minutes for an awesome typical breakfast in a little town called Godinez which was on the way. We arrived in Panajachel where Salvador was waiting for us, and he was equally amazing as a guide. He’s from one of the Lake Atitlan towns, Santiago, and so he’s the perfect guide for this area, incredibly smart and informed, raised in the indigenous culture and language that is so fascinating in this area. He accompanied us to 3 of the lakeside villages in the area, each with its own history and vibe, each one well worth a stop. Our day ended, finishing at the lake around 4 and then Marlon took us back to Antigua. Just an incredible day in Guatemala. Don’t think twice about booking this tour, it’s worth it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to detail your experience with us. Marlon is definitely one of our best collaborators, he's always so friendly. Thanks for the feedback and for recommending us. We are so happy to know that you had a great time at the lake with Salvador.

Overall good experience. Driver was very punctual, the breakfast spot was good, the viewpoint we stopped at on the way had really beautiful view of the lake and the volcanoes. We liked San Juan very much. The other two villages were just ok, cool to see the local life. The only thing we didn't expect and would have preferred to see less of was the chocolate factory, textile factory and honey factory experience, since our time was so limited.

Lake Atitlan is a wonderful place that deserves more than a one-day visit. But if you are in Antigua with just a one-day window, then this tour is a great choice.
We visited three villages by the lake, walked around beautiful streets, learnt about coffee production at small plantation of a local café and about cotton weaving and coloring at a local co-op, and more.
Juan was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us a choice of where to go in the villages, but also made great recommendations, so the tour struck a perfect balance between free time and fixed schedule. Strongly recommend!

My family and I went with Marlin. And you know what? He was one of the BEST drivers i have ever been with. Informative, kind, funny, and generous. The explanations about Guatemalan history and different towns and worthwhile places was very well explained and fascinating. Also, when a local market ran out coconuts and this man went out of his way to help my Ma find a coconut and also some other fruits too! He is so appreciative of people he meets and loves to give great guidance. Ask for him if you have a chance.
Lake Atitlan itself was beautiful. Pana is a town worth walking through. San Juan was the best, with a special demonstration of how to weave clothes and a unique tasting of chocolate. Make sure to especially ask to try chocolate at San Juan—it is not like what you are used to, it’s fresh and otherworldly. San Juan is also incredibly beautiful and colorful!
Not sure if we thought much of Santiago or San Pedro, but San Juan and Pana were worthwhile.

Nicholas was great, very personable and is a local to the Lake Atitlan area so knows the area in and out. The chocolate, cotton and bee hives were all similarly set up. A demonstration of the work and process and an opportunity to buy products. The lookout had a great view but requires a Tuk tuk to get there.

Such a wonderful way to explore Lake Atitlán! Seamless transportation by Gúzman from our hotel in Antigua and Nicolás gave us such a nice intro to the Mayan culture and landscape. We had opportunity to visit chocolate and textile-making, along with local coffee and art vendors.
Thank you for this wonderful highlight of our trip!!

Hi there! We’re very interested in booking for this Monday but a couple questions:
1) does the 6hours exclude the 3hr drive there and 3hr drive back? So we’re expecting a 12hour day roughly?
2) other than kayak on the lake, are there little boat options?
3) where can we purchase food on the lake or purchase at the resort?
Thanks soo much for your help! We’re excited to book!
