Luckily I showed up on a rainy afternoon because I was able to experience the entire workshop one on one. First I received a warm welcome from Barney when I entered the store. He immediately started my tour while explaining the rich history of Jade in the region. Barney took time to answer all my questions with very detailed explanations. Once he completed front loading all the necessary information, he handed me off to Cesar for the hands-on portion of the workshop.
Despite a slight language barrier, Cesar took time to get to know me and taught me the process of turning nothing into something. Each step was modeled and explained before he supervised my use of the equipment. In the end, I felt proud of the effort that went into making a keychain that's truly one of a kind.
The entire staff succeeded in making me feel welcomed in Cara de Jade.

We made our own piece of jewelry in the workshop after a tour of the museum. Our workshop was led by Cesar, he was great! We picked out our raw piece, decided on our design, then got to work. We cut, sanded and polished our jade and Cesar helped us along the way turning it into the piece of jewelry of our choice. It was so much fun!

Visited Casa del Jade on 19th Feb 2023 and participated in the workshop to carve my own Jade piece. Sassy was the best instructor, so kind, patient & knowledgable. I'll definitely recommend this as a must do activity if you are visiting Antigua! You won't regret it!

My daughter and I traveled to Antigua Guatemala for the second time together and I was very pleased with the activity. Erick showed her how to carve her own piece of Jade piece of jewelry from scratch. I thought she was going to be in and out from the class, but in stead Erick took his time to show her step by step, at the end of the activity she felt so proud and witnessed her own work of art made with her own hands. Very very rewarding. Thank you Erick and casa de Jade for the whole experience.

My family really enjoyed this activity. Our instructor, Erick, was very detailed on instructions and had us at ease from the start. Each of us was able to create our own unique piece of jade and were able to choose not only the color but the shape of our piece. Erick guided us every step of the way. We are proudly wearing our new jade jewelry!

The Jade Museum carving experience was AWESOME. A highlight of our trip for sure, especially for kids. I did it with my daughter and we'll probably have the jewelry pieces we made for the rest of our lives.
You get to choose the raw jade piece first, then you choose the design / style you'd like, then you carve it and shape it and polish it and then polish it some more...and you leave with a legit quality piece of jade jewelry. It's really cool. We even enjoyed the brief tour of the jade museum after making our jewelry.
The whole thing is an A+ operation that we were very happy with.
You get to choose the raw jade piece first, then you choose the design / style you'd like, then you carve it and shape it and polish it and then polish it some more...and you leave with a legit quality piece of jade jewelry. It's really cool. We even enjoyed the brief tour of the jade museum after making our jewelry.

We began our experience with Alejandro taking us on a tour of the museam. He spoke with great knowledge, interest and patience.
We continued our experience with Eric who guided us through carving our jade. Eric was a plesure to work with. He walked us through each step with clear instructions and was there to help us when needed. Eric made sure we were comfortable and even made sure we had water when he noticed we were thirsty. It was such a unique experience. It takes about 2 hours from picking your jade piece to your final product. You have lots of choices to make your piece unique. The time flies and its definitely worth it. I would recommend for any age and gender. The machienes were loud however they provide you with earmuffs. It you need to sit they provide chairs. Can be done in Spanish or English. They couldn't be more accommodating to make your experience special.

What an INCREDIBLE and unique experience! Caesar was an incredible host and instructor. He was very knowledgable, has over 20 years of experience, and prioritized safety. He gave a lovely orientation, showed us the raw materials. I picked Lavender Jade and made a pendent. There were a variety of different materials to choose from including classic green jade. At every step of the way Caesar provided incredible guidance and performed a trial/example of every step to ensure you felt comfortable with the equipment. Whenever i was uncomfortable or couldnt do a certain thing because of my nails…he was happy to help me! My piece came out beautifully! A souvenir and an experience! SO WORTH IT!

We loved this. All the kids, older teens to our 8 year old, and adults enjoyed this. We loved making something we could take home. The history and learning about jade was also fun. This was definitely one of our most memorable experiences of our trip!

This was great! Eric was a wonderful, patient, and capable teacher. We picked the shape we wanted to end up with and the raw stone that we wanted. Then we cut, shaped, and polished the stone. We ended up with a very nice piece of jade!
