Our expert local guide and driver who are both from this village will show you the Kompong Phluk rivers and the town itself, as the water levels in the great lake can vary from half meter to over 10 meters ,so can the actual village and rivers do the same,as such the village of Kompong Phluk is built on stilts some 12 meters high,to allow for the constant seasonal variation of the water. together with the flooded forest makes this a very unique and interesting village to explore,we will dock along side the Monks Training school, and inspection of the large Pergola is certainly a highlight with its extensive and beautiful art work on its walls and ceiling, with schools, homes, shops, boat builders, fishing net repairs, its certainly a great village to explore, after which we will proceed to the magical and quite flooded forests, also passing a few floating homes on our way there, all in all a great way to spend a few hours away from the Temples and enter a place time seems to have forgotten.

Village, view of the lake and tour around the flooded forest was beautiful. We went during the monsoon/ rainy season so the water level was completely flooded. However, it was not worth it for the price that we are paying. Tour guide that was following us was also not very professional

This tour was booked via Viator. We were picked up from our hotel on time by a driver and our guide who spoke good English. There were 2 other people on the tour, good as not many people kept the tour personal.
Our first stop on the trip was a village market and we wandered through the different stalls where our guide pointed out the different foods they were selling and giving us samples to try.
After the market we went on a long drive down a rough dirt and at times boggy road where we finally made it to a small long tail boat parked on the riverbank. Being the end of the dry season and low water the river was down to a small creek in size - the boat struggled at times to make its way. Travelling along the waterway we were taken past many riverside houses with villagers going about their daily lives.
Finally the small creek opened out to the huge Tonle Sap Lake. There our guide took us to a floating Crocodile Farm where we hopped out the boat and had a look at the crocodiles and sat and had a cold drink and some fruit. Then we re boarded the boat and headed back up the creek.
We soon stopped and left the boat walking through a village stopping at various locations where our guide showed us interesting aspects of village life.
After the village we hopped back in our minivan and headed back towards Siem Reap. Our guide asked if we would like to stop on the way and have lunch somewhere. We agreed and so he took us to a restaurant that he knew of. The food there was nice but ended up being fairly expensive, more than what we would normally pay to dine out.
Overall the tour was good, seeing various aspects of village life, but we did not enjoy the long times spent in the car, for only a short uncomfortable boat trip in a shallow waterway. Apparently in higher water the tour is in a bigger more comfortable boat. Had we known the boat trip was going to be like this for us we probably would have chosen just a land based tour.

It is quite a ride going here, road is bumby, then you'll take a boat to go to the village.
The place and the culture are quite unique, though.

I love the small boat ride later in the tour, where we toured around a forest with monkeys. Then the sunset (the afternoon half day tour is much better).

We booked the tour with Khiri Travel. The price includes an air conditioned car, driver and an English speaking guide. Our guide Tom, was probably the best guide we’ve had in many years of travel. The tour was fascinating. Tom went out of his way to ensure that we had the opportunity to get close to real life in the village. He took great care to point out interesting activities. He took time to explain what was happening and why- he could not have done more !
Our driver Mr Jung was also a star- he drove with care and consideration and kept us safe and comfortable

Our family had a fantastic experience on this tour and were so well looked after by Vanna and Leng.
Vanna’s English is exceptional as is his knowledge and passion for the country. He was warm, friendly and very excited to be running tours again after being impacted by COVID-19.
We were picked up on time in air conditioned comfort. Loved stopping at the rural market which is one of the best markets I’ve been to, very clean and great range of products.
Boating through the village was simply fascinating. We also had the opportunity to get out and walk through, interacting with local kids.
The crocodile farm was an unexpected surprise and good fun!
I feel this tour gave us so much more insight into life in Cambodia and our trip was definitely enriched.
If you’re on the fence about travelling, jump on a plane and support Cambodia! Now is perfect with minimal tourists :)

20 USD per person for 25 min boattrip and you see only plastic waste. After that they wanna charge you up for next 20 Bucks per person to get in the floating village. Nothing special to see. 80 USD as couple for that is a big cheat! Nobody need that. Go Thailand better deal.

TOTALLY a RIPOFF!!! I cycled there and my only option to see he floating villages was to pay $30 for an hour to go to the lake, wait 5 minutes, get dropped off at a floating shop and back. The guides English was terrible, and I didn’t even want a guide. He then asked 4 times for a tip! I told hm I already paid too much and that it wasn’t worth it. Also I climbed 10 my minutes to the top of the nearby temple stairs only to be told I needed a ticket, which I had to go 12 miles to purchase. Wow!!! Total waste of time!!

Very experienced knowledgeable, friendly, who understands the religion, culture, life style with passion. And, extremely cautious careful driver channel. I did not expect much since it's very dry. However, it's beautiful in its own. We get to witness how people live, 50 kids/1 teacher racial, yet, most diligent, polite kids. They did not bother tourist as other places. Boat ride to the lake was OK. But, it's the true picture of their life. Good trip

San was our most excellent guide and Channa our gentle driver. This trip exposed us to a very unique community in Cambodia. San is super knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Cambodia. He is friendly, enthusiastic; a great conversationalist. If you have more than one day in Siem Reap, do consider having Green Era and San to take you for this trip.
