I was lucky enough to be the only one on my tour and also lucky enough to be Koem Sieng's first official customer to guide through the backroads. He and our VIP (Very Important Photographer) Sam Ath were perfect and made my trip one of the most fun things I've done in Cambodia so far. The route was fun, the people we met along the way were welcoming and so friendly, and making Koem Sieng take embarrassing photos of us doing peace signs in a rice paddy was a great bonus. I highly recommend these guys and this tour, they are superb. Even Sam Ath breaking into a Michael Bublé song at the end couldn't spoil the experience! ;)

Our family (two adults and two children age 9 and 12) took the half-day tour “Bike to the Backroads of Kampot”. It so interesting and peaceful cycling along the backroads around Kampot, to places you will never find or know on your own. It was an easy journey, even for the kids.

We were there in the rainy season and some of the smaller roads were flooded. This meant we could not follow the original itinerary. However, it was not a problem at all; our guide had a great knowledge of the area and found many other things for us see. We all agree that this was the best tour we had in Cambodia.

Our guide’s English was very good. He was fun, kind, and very attentive with the kids. We all learnt a lot about the culture and everyday life in Cambodia. Our guide even shared stories from his own life. I would definitely recommend this tour as a great way to spend half a day in Kampot.

Hello Sofie, It was an awesome review you dropped here. Thank you very much for taking our bike tour around kampot. Thank you for your valued time dropping us such an excellent review after the tour. It was so sad that our tour itineraries were changed due to the small roads were flooded. If we could follow our original itinerary that time, we are sure it would be your best time ever in Cambodia. However we were really glad to hear you loved this tour and learned a lot from our flexible guide brought you and the family the best day. We wish to see you and your family again and take an other our bike tour. Enjoy your time around Cambodia. We wish you the best of luck for the whole family. Best wishes, Butterfly Team, Kampoot

Of course most guesthouses in and around Kampot offer bicycles for rent or even for free - so why book a guided tour in such a small town? For us there are usually two reasons: one is that you will get to places you will never find or know on your own and second is that it is very interesting to hear first hand information from a guide while conveniently just following his/her path! We got a private tour as there were no other guests that afternoon and guide Chenda was making it a brilliant experience for all of us! Our little son liked to watch and learn about lotus flowers, palm sugar (he even made us buy some to take away after seeing Chenda doing this), taste delicious wafer cookies from a tiny manufacturing place and noodles being freshly made. The tour is very manageable as the area around Kampot is mostly flat, the "normal" bikes were fully sufficient to ride these dirt or concrete roads. If you have half a day to spare in Kampot, book a nice tour with Butterfly tours all run by young locals! Great work! We wish you a lot of success!!!

Dear our value customer, We thank you very much for such an brilliant review and your time doing the tour with Butterfly Tours. We were cheerful to hear you had a great way to see life in countryside and around Kampot with your guide Chenda. Of course, like you mentioned two reasons to book our tour were true. You will get to places you will never find or know on your own and second is that it is very interesting to hear first hand information from a guide while conveniently just following his/her path. This was such a really helpful review ever inspiring people coming to explore with us. Once again, thank you for supporting our activities and writing us an awesome feedback. We wish to see you next time. All the best luck to you and your family. Enjoy the rest of your trip! With love and respect, Butterfly Team, Kampot

Whilst our guide did his best, and explained some interesting things about lotus flowers and rolled biscuit production, the route that was taken was very unscenic and basically felt like a tour of the rubbish dumps of Kampot. It obviously doesn't help that the paddy fiends are dry and barren in April, but the route that was taken was nothing special at all. The pagoda that we spent far too much time at, was not a good example and was badly maintained and not at all attractive. The rice noodle maker was lying in a hammock and production had stopped, but the place was an absolute dump and I wouldn't have wanted any noodle from there! I am a long term backpacker, and I am used to roughing it, but the noodle 'factory' was a stinking garbage dump.
It was lovely to see the lady making the biscuits and we gladly purchased some, and I was interested in the lotus pond, but there are far prettier parts of Kampot than are shown on this tour. And the bikes are in poor condition and very uncomfortable. The guide did his best, but continually told stories in the full 38degree sun, to the point that we all had to say we HAVE to stand under a tree.

Dear Looby, We're so sorry to hear that our tour did not meet your expectation. Many tourists are searching for activities that bring them to see the real-life of people. Our day trip strives to connect the visitors with a glimpse into the real-life of our local. So we outfit the travelers with the local bike and bring them to see the real image of our countryside, especially the daily life of our people. By the way, we are exhilarated to see your support the local biscuits product. That means your money goes directly to the community. We do agree with you in April is very hot since it is the hottest month in Cambodia. Currently, the route is not good while it is under construction and soon it will pretty. All in all, we hope that we will have another chance to host you and will ensure to offer you the best. Regards,

We were OK to be part of a group but we were the only ones for this mornings ride so had our guide Chanda to ourselves. He had a couple of older looking bikes available for us which were fine and we followed him around the backroads of Kampot visiting noodle maker and bisuit/snack makers and passing through fields of rice. Chanda was clear and interacted well with us and the locals and had a nice sence of humour. A good way to spend the morning in Kampot and see how locals support themselves. The area is flat but the roads are quite bumpy, overall an easy ride.

My guide Chanda was very knowledgeable and experienced. He took photos of me and the sites and shared with me which I really appreciated as I travel solo. Many of the roads we took were quiet and serene. It was rainy season and the roads were muddy but don't let this deter you from experiencing the beautiful countryside. You will want a small napsack to carry the freshly made roll cakes that are addictive!

Enjoyed a half day tour of the back roads of Kampot visiting some small family run businesses; for example rice noodles and rolled biscuits. Very good. Our two guides Rithy and Makara who were both students were excellent and made the tour interesting and we were able to have a laugh and joke. The group were of mixed abilities but this was not an issue as the pace was relaxed but be aware that the road surfaces are uneven and the bikes don’t have suspension!

A truly excellent company and a great experience that we were glad we booked. Despite the fact we booked to do this tour during the height of rainy season, we still enjoyed what it had to offer. Being honest we did feel this tour would be better outside of rainy season however Tee, our tour guide, did manage to make the best of a bad situation - taking us to see as many different things and places as possible. Our favourite stop was visiting a local family who worked together to make then sell rice noodles. I was particularly impressed when Tee produced a spare mac from his bag as this was much appreciated due to the fact the majority of our tour was through the rain and across lakes rather than roads. A great, eye-opening experience which we'd recommend - preferably to do in non-rainy seasons.

This half day bike tour of Kampot is amazing! Our guide Chenda, who is a fantastic guide, took us around to some very local and incredible places where you'll see how the local people live and work around the villages, very very interesting. Tuk tuk pick up and drop off is also included. I would highly recommend everyone visiting Kampot to do one of the Butterfly tours!

We spent the morning cycling with Savon (hope spelling is correct). He was a polite, friendly young man with useful and interesting information about village life. The cycling is easy and relaxed, and you can stop for photos at your leisure. It is like cycling around with a friend and not being on a tour. We will continue to use Butterfly Tour, a worthy organisation.

Dear valued customers, We were really glad to have heard that you had a wonderful morning with your guide, Sovann (No worries about the spelling). Of course, He is a really polite, friendly young man and he loves sharing his experiences and the culture of Cambodian to tourists. He is our new tour guide and it was his second time of guiding. He really happy to hear it was like cycling around with a friend and not being on a tour. We would like to say Thank you for taking the time experiencing with us and dropping us such an awesome review. It inspired Sovann and our whole team a lot to move forwards. Once again, thanks for supporting our activities and hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. We wish to see you next trip to Cambodia again. With love and respect, Butterfly Team, Kampot
