About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JuliaPenny0 contributionsExceptional tour guide and driver, JaiI feel very fortunate to have found Jai online when searching for a private tour guide. I arranged two consecutive days of touring with him around Ipoh and a transfer to Penang. Firstly, it was very easy to communicate with Jai via WhatsApp. He arrived promptly for our tours and was very friendly and accommodating. He has an amazing knowledge of the area and went above and beyond to give us the very best tour possible, picking up on what interested us the most and giving us authentic experiences that we hadn’t anticipated, making unforgettable memories for myself and my cousin. I would highly recommend Jai, if you are looking for a tour guide and would definitely use him again, if we were to return to Malaysia.Written 19 February 2025

- sanjaydahar0 contributionsFantastic Ipoh TourWe took the Ipoh private tour and went with very moderate expectations given our very average experience in KL. It was a fantastic and enriching experience on the tour. Jaie shared the history and the story behind the town and all the places we visited. He was very accomodating with our requests and not for once, did we feel rushed to complete the tour at a specific time. This tour was the highlight of our Malaysia tripWritten 18 November 2024

- Relax508108743450 contributionsThe best tour of Ipoh!Visiting Ipoh with my sister was the best decision we made on our first trip to Malaysia! Sir Jai explained every corner of our trip, introduced us to Kopi Putih, the history of Kellie's Castle, the beautiful caves and lakes, and even at the end of the tour, he made sure that we enjoyed it and made us feel so welcome. Based on our experience, Sir Jai is the best tour guide (we undoubtedly gave him a 100/10 score), and I hope that we can go back to Ipoh someday. Terima kasih, sir Jai! Terima kasih, Ipoh!Written 26 August 2024
- TomSaintsRL0 contributionsBrilliant full day tourWe were recommended to book Jai by friends, and it was a great recommendation. Jai picked us up from our hotel at 09:00 and we had a wonderful experience over the next eight hours. We visited Kellie’s Castle, the Tempurung caves, Mirror Lake 2 and then the cave temples at Kek Look Tong and Perak. Jai kept us safe, well-informed and amused throughout - a true professional. He even introduced us to Ipoh white coffee (iced, as it was a hot day!). The car was very comfortable, with good air con. He also does Cameron Highlands tours and will customise to whatever suits your interests and fitness/ability. We can’t recommend him highly enough - thank you Jai!Written 30 July 2024

- gaynorc7140 contributionsExcellent and Trustworthy serviceWe were initially collected from Ipoh train station and taken to our hotel. Jaies Chauffeur service was excellent, and the driver was very polite and helpful. The following day, Jaie collected us from our hotel and took us on a guided tour of Ipoh and Batugjah. He collected us on time, and our tour was superb. Jaie has a wealth of knowledge of the area, and every question we asked was answered with factual information. We also visited a couple of areas in Batugajah that were dear to our heart, and Jaie was happy to adjust our itinerary to take these areas into account, which completed our day. Thank you, Jaie. We will definitely book with Jaies Tours when we next visit Malaysia.Written 11 March 2024

- Flyer517677767660 contributionsDay in the Cameron HighlandsJai was our tour guide for a wonderful day in the Cameron highlands. He is very knowledgeable about the region and it was clear he had curated and evolved the tour through years of experience. The tour gives a real taste of the area, with an itinerary focusing on tea plantations, gardens, markets and a waterfall - every part was very interesting often in areas of great natural beauty, but what makes the tour extra special is the extra context, meaning behind everything, pointing out things along the way, explaining also lots of Ipoh history too - made us feel we were coming away with lots of local insights. Jai is an excellent tour guide - professional, friendly and kind throughout the day. Thank you!Written 13 January 2024

Important tip to take note is to start your journey early.
Thats what our expert tour guide, Vasu, advise us since he has the experience with the traffic along the way to Cameron Highlands from Ipoh. He picked us @8am, have breakfast first and after that the drive to and from the Cameron Highlands is such a wonderful and eventful journey without any traffic jams. Lucky indeed! He is friendly and explains every tourist attraction and its history throughout the whole drive. He stops at beautiful sceneries in order to let us take photos. He also becomes our photographer. He clearly communicate the itinerary to us and can accommodate to changes in our eating plan. He recommends good food specialty in Cameron Highlands and where to avoid the crowd which is very considerate to my family. In conclusion, we can finish the itinerary with good feeling and achievement thanks to Vasu. My family and I have an unforgettable memories of Cameron Highlands with Vasu.

We had the most extraordinary experience with Jay as our tour guide to the Cameron Highlands. From start to finish, everything exceeded our highest expectations. Without us even asking, Jay tailored the trip to our preferences, sharing fascinating insights and showing us unique places beyond what was outlined in the tour description. Every moment felt thoughtfully curated, and we couldn’t have spent our money better.
Jay is not just a guide—he’s an official expert of the area, a safe and skilled driver, and someone deeply respected by the local community. His knowledge is unmatched, and his punctuality and professionalism were impeccable. He picked us up right on time from our hotel and brought us to special, hidden gems only a local guide of his caliber could access.
A highlight was meeting local indigenous people—a rare and authentic experience that we’ll cherish forever. Jay also guided us to the best market stalls, where we tasted the freshest and most authentic fruits and vegetables straight from local gardens. He introduced us to traditional dishes we’d never have discovered on our own or with an unofficial guide, making this a truly immersive experience.
At the tea plantations, Jay explained every detail of the tea-making process with incredible expertise. At the rose and orchid garden (a hidden gem that’s stunningly beautiful and delightfully untouristy), he shared detailed information about the plants and animals, making the visit both educational and magical. To top it all off, he treated us to locally made strawberry ice cream—an absolute delight!
Jay even went the extra mile to take countless photos for us, ensuring we could fully enjoy the moment without worrying about capturing it ourselves.
Everything about this tour went above and beyond, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice to book with Jay. His dedication, knowledge, and passion for his work made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone visiting the Cameron Highlands—you won’t find a better guide!

Jaie looked after us really well on the full day Cameron Highlands tour
He quickly listened and adjusted the itinerary to spend time in the places and features we wanted to see and experience that day
I would mention in particular the Rose garden tour- far more than roses!
Loved his choice of lunch venues and informed answers to all our questions and the avoidance of all the traffic queues to complete quite a lengthy circuit of the Highlands
We covered the tea plantation sections well in spite of inclement weather and it was all memorable stuff for us , being 47 years since our last visit to the Highlands
In short a highly recommended one day tour

We had an excellent day exploring Cameron Highlands with Jim, a professional and knowledgeable guide and chauffeur. Jim met us at our hotel promptly at 730am. The early pick up time seemed to help us stay ahead of the larger groups and bus tours.
Driving up to the Cameron Highlands from Ipoh (and back) is about 2 hrs each way and very twisty, but the lush mountains, old forests, and waterfalls are beautiful scenery and well worth the trip. Jim is an excellent driver and we both felt very comfortable and safe.
We stopped for a stretch and tea from one of the famous tea plantation cafés. Next was the Lavender Garden. The entry fee into the gardens was inexpensive, showcasing many species of lavender, flowers, plants, and Highland strawberries. We tried some love fruit, something we had never heard of, and also some fried pumpkin leaves and steamed sweet potatoes. The garden centre is set up like a cute fairytale theme for all ages. Loads of touristy gifts you could purchase, fun areas for little ones and plenty of places to take some great pics as well.
On to the BOH tea planation, more winding narrow roads. BOH is the oldest planation in the region and is impressive in size.
Next up was a local market for some fresh strawberries, love fruit, and milky corn on the cob, again something we had never tried raw. We then stopped for lunch at a small local Indian restaurant. We had told Jim that one of us is vegan and he was very helpful and conscious about finding options all day long.
Heading back to Ipoh we stopped by some road side stalls where indigenous people sell a variety of herbal roots, jackfruit, durian fruit, stinky pea pods, cocoa pods and ornamental plants. As well, we saw inside one of their homes built on stilts, and they also showed us how he still uses poisonus blow darts for hunting.
Overall the entire day was great! We ate a lot of new things, learned some interesting facts about the region, people, cultures and many plants, flowers and fruits grown in the region. We would definitely recommend Jaies tours and explore the Cameron Highlands with Jim.

Absolutely the best tour we could ask for. It was a sort of rehearsed tour, where it was just the two of us and the guide (Jai) in the car and already along the way we received so much information and discovered so many curiosities; then in the attractions we would join two other couples and Jai would explain everything in detail to all six of us.
Jai picked us up directly from the hotel and took us for a typical breakfast before leaving for the Cameron Highlands, where he then not only explained everything about the tea plantations, but also immersed us in a sensory journey through tastings of local food scents and colors. Must do if you want to live the experience at 360 °!

We have been blessed to have visited many places around the world with a variety of tour guides. I can confidently state that our day with Jai exploring the Cameron Highlands was truly one of the best experiences we've had! His smooth driving along very twisty roads was a blessing that kept any hint of motion sickness far away. As the day went by, Jai added unexpected and delightful quick stops that helped break up the drive while also adding informative and entertaining additions to the agenda. A true highlight was the addition of visiting the Mossy Forest which Jai suggested we do after he heard about our interest in cloud forests! We also loved our lunch, a wonderful South Indian feast that tantalized the taste buds while energizing the body after a busy morning of hiking and learning about the tea harvest process. At the end of the day, we got back to our hotel absolutely thrilled with our experience, a bag full of extra surprises to remember it all, and a new friend who we look forward to seeing whenever our paths cross again! Most highly recommend!!

Highly recommend this day tour departing from Ipoh. A big thank you to our guide Jim who went out of the way to show us some of the less populated sights of the Cameron Highlands. He even squeezed in a stop at the Perak Cave Temple in Ipoh on the way back when he realised we were going to leave Ipoh without seeing it! He answered all of our questions (we had a lot of questions!) and showed a great love and insight of the Perak area. There was lots to enjoy on the tour, with one highlight being a lunch stop at a local restaurant that we would have otherwise probably passed by if we were on our own, and sitting and eating and talking with Jim about life. Tip for those going to Cameron Highlands, make sure you have cash on you as some attractions don't appear to accept card payments (and having cash will get you in quicker and give you more time to explore). Don't think about skipping the Cameron Highlands, it's a must see and you must book with this company and ask for Jim!

Just back from a fabulous tour with Jaie around the Cameron Highlands.
After a punctual collection from the hotel we started our drive to the hills. Jaie enlightened us with an in depth history and information about the area.
Learning about tea making with visiting two breath taking plantations escorted by our knowledgable guide. We were treated to tastings at various stalls along our journey and met some lovely smily locals. A tasty lunch at the Banana Leaf restaurant after some botanical delights at the Rose and Orchid Garden then over to the picturesque water fall.
What made the tour special was the great company of Jaie with knowledge and enthusiasm who ensured that we made the best of the tour including directing our photo poses as required.
A perfect day and highly recommended.

from the getgo our guide Wassu greated us with the biggest smile. he fed us with ton of interesting knowledge of ipoh and cameron highlands as well as ton of delicious snacks and indian meal for lunch. the milkcorns were so sweet and juicy both streamed and raw form, absolute must try. also the lady at the produce store was really friendly and let us try lot of different fruits and veggies. the indian meal was so good we left our external battery at the table when we left, maybe subconsciously wanted to go back for a 2nd meal (thanks for going back and retrieving it for us Wassu). also the lempeng pisang was very delicious! coconuty grilled pancake! also the views at both tea plantations and the waterwall also were gobsmackingly beautiful. the weather was switching back and forth between cloudy foggy sunny and rainy. but each weather made it even more memorable and we were so lucky we avoided rain at all the outdoor activities (thankyu for the prayers and weather power Wassu haha). The fogs made the tea valleys even more mystical. and of course Michael Jackson the orang asli, very entertaining fella. Overall the tour was an amazing experience for us and would absolutely recomend the tour with Wassu. (thank you)

Is there a restriction on number of adults under age 60? Our group has 3 adults: 1 adult under age 59, and 2 adults ages over 59. The selection does not seem to allow for that.
Is the itinerary flexible? For example can a trip to the Mossy Forest be added or substituted in?

I would be travelling in a group of 4 people. Would it be possible to get picked up in Ipoh with 4 carry-on size luggage and dropped off in Cameron highlands at the end of the trip?

Hi,
I would like to add 2 people to my current booking. Is that possible? I have also responded to the Trip Advisor email with this same question and more information.
Thanks,
Mary

Is it possible to do this tour from KL taking the ETS to Ipoh station? If so, I don’t see any way to get to Ipoh before 10am. Please advise.

I am not too sure if that is possible, but perhaps you could try to contact or WhatsApp the following.
Jai Ganesh Jaies Chauffeur Service.
Jai is the tour guide whom took me and my family in private tour in Ipoh and to Cameron Highlands.
