Great way to see NATURE!
Jul 2020
One of Penang’s best-kept secrets, the southwestern part of the island which is called Balik Pulau offers bicycle rides for Rm7 each through quiet little towns as well as visits to an animal farm and a ‘bedak sejuk’ (traditional rice powder) factory.

One can set out to explore Balik Pulau on their own. With Google Maps as navigator, one can cycle along quaint villages, passing by a fishing village and making occasional stops to enjoy the beautiful scenery. A fantastic way to see the natural beauty and feel of fresh clean air.

Informative trip
An enjoyable morning cycling in the countryside of Penang Island.
The free-range host dairy farm we visited was most enjoyable.
It was a good experience to be shown and explained the subtle differences between the Malaysian and Chinese fishing villages.
Our tour host was very informative and was able to answer all questions raised.
Only negative aspect of the trip, my bicycle's gears kept slipping which became a frustration as I had to cycle the distance in the same gear.
In my opinion the cycles could be better maintained.

Enjoy the breeze as you go!
Got picked up at 7am then a couple of more pickups for the rest of the group.

Given water to take with us when we got to the farm.. there's toilets there and various animals to look at which you're free to do just before being taken back.

Loads of bikes to choose from, mainly mountain bikes and city bikes with a basket. We could give them a go and take whichever we fancied. Not super high tech but the whole thing is only 10k and on the flat so they're fine for the job.

Went along waterways, through palm nut plantations, couple of fishing areas and a goat farm where there were various additional petting animals and fruit growing which we were introduced to like nutmeg, jackfruit, the blue flower they use to colour rice etc. All very gentle but a nice to stretch your legs and see the other side of the island for a morning.

We could choose where to be dropped off afterwards so handy if you want to go to kek Lok si afterwards.

Would recommend!

Best way to start a day!

Tour was super nice!
Even if it's very early - it leaves you so much time to continue exploring things within the rest of a day.
Guide was brilliant! Super nice and easy to talk to guy.

Really worth it :)

Good tour. Bikes in poor condition but the ride is easy. All little maintenance would go a long way.

Interesting bicycle tour of local farms and rural area
Jan 2020 • Couples
It’s not really a glamorous tour but it is interesting. We looked at a palm plantation, cattle, a goat farm and trees growing local produce such as nutmeg and banana. We saw rabbits, chooks, goats and cats. We visited a goat farm. We saw a very sad looking fishing village as well as a Chinese community and tiny temple. We tried some local kopi and a local pastry (not my taste). Then we rode the bikes home and then drive back to Georgetown. It was informative.

Amazing start to the day

Get collected from your hotel, drive to countryside and then pick a bike and then the ride begins. A couple of hours cycling in the countryside via small tracks through lovely nature and small towns while being well informed about malaysia as a country and its culture told by the great local guide. Really enjoyed the ride.

Great way to see a bit more of the island, with a friendly and knowledgable guide
Jan 2020
I'm really glad I did this tour as it showed me a side of the island I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Educational, relaxing, and a bit of (gentle) exercise. (no hills!)
