About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- I3031QCandrewm0 contributionsAmazing Borneo (And our Guide Brendan)! We had Brendan as our tour guide for a week as we travelled from west to east across Borneo. The tour was jam packed so prepare to stay busy - there is a lot to do and see! At every step of our itinerary from the cultural village, rainforest walks, botanical gardens, river wildlife sightseeing, Orang tan rehab centre, Proboscis monkey sanctuary and overall history of the island Brendan is a Guru! His breadth and depth of knowledge about his country, history, botany and wildlife was just incredible. Brendan also has a great sense of humour which kept us entertained on our bus tours between sights and accommodation.Written 24 July 2024
- 232radhak0 contributionsAmazing trip to SabahIt was an amazing trip and we had a lot of fun. The view was phenomenal and we took many pictures. Can't wait to go to Sabah again!Written 12 February 2024
- cklootd0 contributionsHappy & SatisfyAwesome trip arrangement and responsive to my enquiry. The ground service team also patient and on time.Written 21 December 2023
- grahamwT2165BM0 contributionsReally good tour cross North Borneo with lots of information and great sights.A really good tour with Brendan as the guide and Roslyn as the driver. Brendan was a font of information not jus about the specific sights but also about life in North Borneo. Sepilok Orang-Utan reserve is a must and the Proboscis Monkeys as well. The war history is confronting and worth reading about before you get there.Written 14 October 2023
- 657lest0 contributionsGREAT two week tour with this companyWe did a fully inclusive ( guide, all accommodation, meals, tours and adventures) two week tour from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu organised by this company - it was FANTASTIC. No dramas or issues, everything was seamless and high quality. Our guide Andrea Q was AMAZING - great fun, very attentive and ensured our experiences at each destination were maximised. We came home with so many tremendous memories and no regrets! Thank you Borneo TT&T!!!Written 13 August 2023
- fionabT5508SB0 contributionsFabulous 10 days in Sabah, Malaysia - Borneo10 days from Kinabalu to Sandakan. Started tour with a visit to the beautiful, tropical Manukan Island, part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. Spent time at both the Kundasang and Sandakan War Memorials. War Memorials aren't normally my thing - but finding out about the Sandakan death marches was a sobering experience - a piece of history many Australians may be unaware of. The local markets we managed to fit in along the way were interesting and varied. Sabah Tea, Mount Kinabalu and the Botanic Gardens were all a delight. Our 3 days in the rainforest watching for wildlife from our boats on the Kinabatangan River were wonderful. We saw a mum Orangutan with her 1 year old baby - but it was the Rhinoceros Hornbills who were a real highlight for me. Our tour guide, Brendan, was fabulous - a wonderful host and fantastic at spotting wildlife. Felt very cared for and safe for the entire trip.Written 5 August 2023
- 233agnieszkad0 contributionsGood trip, worth tryingWe enjoyed the trip. The guide was friendly, we have seen the Mt Kinabalu, the hot springs, had tree top walk and visited botanical garden. Really nice, despite being stuck in a traffic jam on the way back. Recommended.Written 28 June 2023
- ravis600 contributionsFantasticSera the tour guide and rent our driver. Well organised tour with sera looking after us like our own daughter. Keep up the good workWritten 2 May 2023
- rodd2500 contributionsOverall very good. Guide was exceptionalI recently returned from the Trip a Deal Borneo tour which was conducted by Borneo Trails. Our guide Dominic was fantastic and everything you could ask for in a guide. He was friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The only complaint I had was that a lot of the meals were bland and repetitious Chinese style.Written 12 April 2023
- viviantong010 contributions4D3N Mount KK Trip and Mari Mari Cultural VillageIt's a great trip we had for the 4D3N Mount KK climbing trip. Good accommodation, good foods and good response from the team. Special thanks 😘 to Esther GK and teams (Walter, Dora, Lusius, Apson ) for the well arrangements and cares. All of us (14paxs) are very happy with the entire journey and events. Highly recommended!! 😉Written 16 March 2023
- dean8520 contributionsGreat group of people! It’s a yes! Bernadette was great in arranging our transfers in Kota Kinabalu. We booked our own flight, and when Air Asia was delayed two hours we thought our day would be ruined. Instead Bernadette coordinated with our Guide Jackie who showed up with a smile and driver at Sandakan airport! It was an incredible day seeing the orangutans, small bears and proboscis monkeys! Memories of a lifetime and fantastic value ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Written 12 October 2022
- LGFG20220 contributions3 Day Solo Trip - Fabulous Company and Highly RecommendedAs a first-time visitor to Borneo I was keen to see as much wildlife as possible and wanted to organise a trip from Kota Kinabalu to do this. The challenge I encountered was, as a solo traveller, many companies were unable to cater as needed a minimum of 2 persons. And with tourism only starting to open up, there were no groups that I could join. Borneo Trails Tours & Travel was the only one to come back to me and accommodate my needs. Esther answered all my questions and also arranged my flights for me (including checking me and providing me with boarding passes). Whilst there was a slight increase in the price as I would be the only person on the trip, I thought this was still very reasonable. At every stage I felt looked after, be that from my 4.45am pick up from my hotel, to being greeted by my guide and driver on the other side. My guide was exceptionally knowledgeable having spent 20 years working in the field and I learnt so much: during our visit to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Sun Bear Conservation Centre, 3 boat trips along River Kinabatangan, jungle walk, water village and city tour. Nothing was too much trouble - including my request to accompany me around the market! I stayed at the Borneo Nature Lodge - a fabulous place with warm and welcoming staff. They catered fully for my vegetarian needs, and I left a lot heavier than I arrived! (Amazing homemade cakes in the afternoon!) Our boat driver could sense, (and smell!) when the animals were present, and was particularly cognoscente of when I wanted to take photos, allowing me to spend more time at certain places. He even enticed a juvenile Pygmy elephant to come to our boat by playing a game! The trip was packed full of nature / wildlife that I had wanted to see, including the elusive orangutan (x 2!). With such a successful trip, I also organised a 1-day trip to visit Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Spring and Canopy Walkway (with Mount Kinabalu added in for good measure). Again, it was an exceptional trip and my highly experienced guide, was not only fabulous in all the information that was shared, but also supported me as I conquered my fear of heights walking amongst the canopy! I would highly recommend both Borneo Trails Tours & Travel and Borneo Nature Lodge for those wishing to immerse themselves within the wildlife of Sabah and the spirit of this fabulous part of the world.Written 16 June 2022
- millymops0 contributionsWonderful guide, brilliant day. What a fantastic day. James our guide was lovely, so knowledgable and went the extra mile for us to have a great day. I can absolutely recommend this company.Written 7 May 2022
- caroline w0 contributionsDay trip to the OrangantansI organised this day trip from Australia we had to arrange our own flights from KK to Sandakan which was fine (just watch Air Asia they cancelled our flight) to a hour later but Borneo Trails worked around the timetable for us Vincent our guide for the day was amazing so knowledgeable about the jungle, Orangutans he even got us in to see the sun bears in the jungle we saw 7 the whole experience was amazing we visited a water village on stilts a temple overlooking the whole of Sandakan . Going in December remember its the rainy season we got a bit of rain in the jungle but that all added to the ambience of the day. We would really recommend BT and Vincent.Written 28 December 2019
- Jes09740 contributionsHighly Recommend & Worth A VisitThe long 6.5 hours winding & imperfect road condition from KK are worth of hassles to visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. They are so cute and pleasant to watch. Shame we couldn’t see the indoor nursery. Highly recommend if you can. There are places to visit along the way namely Kundasang. You’ll be blown away with the numbers of various fruits that are not available in your local supermarkets.Written 26 October 2019

I have a good experience and the staff has a better service. I really satisfied and enjoy it. Other than that the environment is also clean and comforting.
