Itinerary
- 1The tour begins with pickup from your hotel at 9.00 AM or 2.00PM. You will be able to meet and greet our friendly English-speaking driver at the hotel lobby and proceed for the tour. The tour starts and proceeds with a 40 minute drive to Annah Rais Longhouse located at Padawan District, which is approximately 60km away from Kuching City. Most of the Bidayuh longhouses are located near villages and towns. This has led to urban migration especially for the younger generation and the result is a new take on communal living. Upon arrival at Annah Rais, the sight that greets you is a thriving village which bears no resemblance to a longhouse. As you navigate the detached homes you will notice that they are interconnected by walkways which in itself is still an affirmation of extended family living – perhaps just not in the traditional ‘entire village under one roof’ longhouse sense. As you approach what is the heart of the village, this is where the original longhouse structure is, over a century old. Some old folks still cling to their original home. Annah Rais is considered one of the most beautiful longhouses in Sarawak, cradled by the mountains and a beautiful freshwater stream.

- chrismF7793QX0 contributionsMagical rainforest discovery! The Gunung Gading National Park is a beautiful place, but you need to take the time to enjoy it. Sadly, there were no giant Rafflesia flowers in bloom when we visited, but our park guide, Antonia, made up for that completely. Her enthusiasm and her wealth of knowledge were a joy, and we learned a great deal. She took us off the beaten track and her sharp eyes spotted things that we'd never have seen without her. It was three hours of magical rainforest discovery. Well worth the visit.Written 24 October 2024
- TraceyM25060 contributionsDriver did not turn upUnfortunately the driver failed to pick us up. Numerous calls later, was told driver was 'busy' - despite having booking confirmed. Was offered next day tour - which was not convenient for us. Requested a refund which was processed the same day.Written 4 September 2024
- Isabel B0 contributionsA TOTAL EXPERIENCEI had a great guide for this visit, very well experienced and with the best information of the place, flexible and considering all the time my well being. 100% recommended, the guide was named Jason, he is able to explain everything about a very rich amd complex culture in Borneo, Sarawak, Kuching and the parksWritten 3 February 2024
- macfod0 contributionsTickedPaid to much to see the unusual shape sandstone rock. Just a one hour return boat ride for most visitors where the boatman wait to grab you. The rock is smaller than we imagined but we got photos and crossed off our list. Luckily, we saw the errawaddy dolphins en route back that made the trip.Written 2 August 2023
- blinkybillWhistler0 contributionsFlexible sight seeing tourAs myself and my daughter were the only ones on this tour, the tour guide, Andy, was friendly and accommodating. Besides the mentioned destinations on this tour, I was able to have a drive down memory lane and visit the site of my previous primary school in Miri, which is now Piasau Nature reserve. To make up for time, some of the other places we drove past, and others were closed on the Sunday (eg Petroleum museum). Our last stop was so crowded as it was the weekend and we were unable to find a parking spot so had to just drive past Coco Cabana instead. I suggest doing the tour on a weekday. All in all our tour duration was still 3 hours. Andy could answer the 100 of questions I asked him about Miri and Sarawak - he is a bank of information and knowledge. This tour is highly recommended if you would like to see the sights of Miri in half a day.Written 27 June 2023

- Chris D0 contributionsWorthwhile visitReally enjoyed the cave walks, even in monsoon rain on first day. The cabin was comfortable and quite satisfactory to stay. Food provided was good and we really enjoyed our stay.Written 22 March 2020
- dianecP6963IW0 contributionsStay at the Marriott instead of the Rainforest LodgeThe setting is beautiful and convenient to the Park. The chalet I was in smelled so strongly of mildew and mold that it could knock you over upon entering. The air conditioning was barely functioning. There was no drinking water provided and no refill station so a lot of plastic waste. Every little thing is an extra charge including wifi or changes to the set breakfast. I was sick and requested rice and toast which cost wise is cheaper but they charged extra. I asked if someone could help with my luggage on departure as I was weak but I was told no one was available. I do not recommend the Rainforest Lodge as it was the most expensive thing I did while in Borneo and the accommodations and services were a big disappointment.Written 13 March 2020
- ParmananthamK0 contributionsAn Incredible Day Trip to Niah CavesThe trip to the Niah Caves was one of the highlights of our recent visit to Sarawak. Our tour guide provided sufficient information to prepare us for the nature walk and the climb to the Niah Caves. The drive from our Miri hotel to the Niah National Park took about an hour and a half. The walk to the caves is about 3 km through true nature and the track is mostly on planks installed by the park authorities. As we started early in the morning, the walk was pleasant - not very humid initially. After the climb to the Traders' cave, we entered the Great Cave. What an impressive sight, nothing like being there yourself. There were number of locations where archaeological digs were being carried out. Unfortunately, we were not able to proceed to the Painted Cave due to closure for archaeological works. This is an experience not to be missed if in Miri, Sarawak!!Written 6 November 2019
