Most of the tour was actually spend on transit between Kyoto Station and Nara. There was little value of having a guide as the commentary was general and not tailored to the audience.

The tour was timed, with the bus stopping at the three locations: Todaiji Temple with its Deer Park, followed by the Kasuga Shrine, and then 10 minutes at a gift shop. All the locations were short distances away from each other in Nara. Not enough time was allowed at the temple / deer park which was the major highlight of the tour.

The area was well served by public transport (both trains and buses). In hindsight we should have opted to do the tour ourselves and explored a bit more of Nara.

The wild deer roaming around added a whole lot of fun and excitement to all of us touring. Though raining at the time of the tour, the tour guide was informative(good English) and engaging and funny.

The guide was mediocre. He didn't give us enough interesting info on the subjects, but instead tried to be cute. The tour hit the highlights so that was good.

This tour was just ok as it could have been so much better. First of all it's a huge bus tour so be prepared. The good news is that they do start on time and stick to a schedule, the bad news is that it takes 1 hour to get there and back so after they walk you through Nara to see the Temple, they give you literally 20 minutes of free time, which is crazy as that also includes the time it takes to walk back to the bus. So basically you traveled around the world, drove 1 hour all the way to Nara and back and only get 20 minutes with the Deer? This is unacceptable as they should give people a full 1 hour. They are in such a rush to get to drive to the next Shrine and turn around and get back home that there is no free time. If anything they really need to start 1 hour earlier to give people some free time to roam and interact with the Deer. I spoke to many people who were upset and 1 couple who took off on their own as they wanted more free time. My recommendation is to take the train and go there on your own.

We arrived to Kyoto by bullet train and wanted to see Nara (the famous temples and deer park)--traveling with two teenagers. . this was most efficient way. Our guide was so funny and nice. Fast paced tour but enough time to see the deer park and Todaiji. We liked strolling around (it was raining but warm and it made atmosphere more classic Japan) --kids had a blast feeding the deer (be careful :) . . . It is hard to describe the Todaiji Temple--must see in person. The guide was great, driver fantastic and they really kept it perfectly on time as expected. Highly recommend if you only have a half day.

We had a lovely lovely day at Nara. We took a train from Osaka to Nara which is just about an hour’s ride away. Saw some lovely Sakuras on the way as well. Lots of tourist in April due to the Sakura season but public transportation is great. We took a bus from the train station to the the Todaiji Temple and the deer park. There are people to direct us to take the right bus and they speak and understand adequate English. If in doubt, just follow the crowd during peak season as most tourist will head out to almost similar sites. Loved seeing the deers roaming around freely in the park and its obvious they are used to the crowd. We bought some deer biscuits to feed them and most of them are tame and ‘polite’. Many deers will bow slightly for 3 times if we do the same as well and thats before we feed them the biscuits - only in Japan!

It was more of a big tour which just touches places and before you want to explore more or spend more time you have to leave for the bus . Only recommendable if on a short unplanned visit . Nara needs two days of sightseeing and spending time with nature

This temple is worth seeing, although again it is very busy. The large Buddha is worth seeing and there is a lovely atmosphere within the temple itself. Outside the grounds are beautiful and well kept. There are deer to see which are very friendly and sweet to see with the children who visit. Beautiful place.
