About
This tour covers every part of the bamboo forest. By rickshaw and on foot! The first stop after cruising through the bustling main street is the bamboo forest. Enjoy the vivid green bamboo as your guide pulls you along the path reserved for rickshaws only, away from other visitors. Have your camera or mobile phone ready to take pictures. You don’t want to miss this. After passing by the Nonomiya Shrine you will enter the second part of the bamboo forest, which is designed like a little park. Here we can take great group pictures with the stunning green bamboo in the background. On the way to the third and last section of the bamboo forest, you will pass by a well-kept scene from the Edo period The third part of the bamboo forest can only be accessed on foot, so our guide will park the rickshaw within walking distance and then guide you to the most famous and impressive part of the bamboo forest. (To avoid the crowds here, we recommend starting the tour before noon)

Dear Conny, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama the other day. Thank you also very much for taking the time to write a review about our guide Mocchi! He was very happy to hear from you and to know that you had a great time on his rickshaw. Throughout the year the landscape of Arashiyama changes, but no matter if you come during one of the hottest days of summer or the coldest day in winter, our guides will show you the the many charms Arashiyama has to offer throughout the year. Here is a comment Mocchi wrote in response to your review: "Thank you for taking my tour and your nice review!! It was great time with you! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed and like the pictures I took!! If you have chance, please come back again!!" Best Regards, Guide: Taichi MOCHIZUKI (Mocchi) Staff: Larissa C EBISUYA Rickshaw

Had a really good experience with the Rickshaw and our driver, Ryo. He took us to a trail we hadn’t seen when exploring about. Took some great photos as well!

Dear 108mychalh, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama back in February. Thank you also for taking the time to write a review about the rickshaw tour you had with our guide Ryo. We are very pleased to hear that you had a good experience and went home with good pictures in your camera/phone. Since our guides know Arashiyama like the back of their hand, they will make sure to show you some spots and sceneries which many visitors don't know about or simply don't see or realize when exploring the area on their own. We hope you made many memories and will come back and visit us again some day. Best Regards, Larissa C EBISUYA Rickshaw

Absolute must to do while in Kyoto! Ebisuya rickshaw has such sweet employees!
Apr 2020 • Friends
Let me start saying everyone I encountered that worked for Ebisuya rickshaw was so sweet and welcoming and as a foreigner I appreciated it. My driver was buchi-San, who was the nicest and sweetest person. I actually wanted to ride the rickshaw in a kimono so i changed from my western dress and i looked for buchi and I couldn’t find him so I asked his coworker where is was. He said they will call him for me, he was finishing another ride. His coworker wait with my upon his arrival. Which was only 6 minutes. I appreciate his conversations with me while I waited. Buchi-San arrived and we went in the rickshaw. He took amazing pictures and I’m very picky when it comes to pics. I helped him with his English and he helped me with my Japanese. He was great. I would recommend to anyone.

Dear Arua1795, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama and taking the time after to write a review about your experience. We really like the pictures you shared as well! It is wonderful to hear that you were able to take a tour with our guide Buchi, just like you had hoped for. Taking the rickshaw tour while wearing a kimono definitely adds to the experience and looks great on the pictures, which your guide will happily take for you. Here is a comment your guide Buchi wrote for you: "Thank you for riding and giving favorable review! I’m glad to know that you had a good time with rickshaw in Arashiyama. When I heard that you were looking for me, I’m very surprised and felt happy. Your choice was best to wear kimono which goes well with rickshaw. I hope you to come back to Arashiyama again. And then please take us. We can get share the beautiful scenery in season and special guide with you. I’m looking forward to see you again." Best experience in Japan so far! 🇯🇵
My mother was visiting from Denmark in her wheelchair and we went to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest because it’s wheelchair accessible. It was unplanned that we stopped to talk to Shinnosuke on the look for directions. We quickly decided to give it a go with the rickshaw, since I wanted my mother to see the forest and area from a higher point of view, than always from sitting down on the wheelchair. We were very pleased about the tour around the ancient city and he took us places, we wouldn’t have seen on our own. Actually we only met two other tourists outside from the bamboo forest.🎋 We learned a lot from about Kyoto and Japan in general, going on Ebisuya’s excellent tour. He knew a little of every topic! We really enjoyed this and I would recommend Shinmosuke (Shinchan) Tsuji to everyone! When we came back from the tour they even fixed my mother’s inflatted wheels - what a service! Thanks to the very friendly and helpful gesture, Ueda 🙏🏻 We thank you so much for putting in the extra effort and wish you all the best. 🇯🇵🎋🥰🇩🇰
Sincerely, Suzanne & Cristina

Dear Suzanne and Cristina, Thank you very much for your long, detailed and kind review. We loved reading your review and really appreciate the feedback! We are happy that both you and your mother had a fantastic time time exploring the Arashiyama area. Riding a rickshaw definitely gives you a completely different perspective on the bamboo forest, especially when your guide takes you through the private, rickshaw-only lane, away from the crowds. Though Arashiyama is quite a large area, only few people venture away from the popular spots to discover more of the characteristic Arashiyama and Sagano area, so we are glad that you did! The rickshaw covers a lot of distance in a shorter amount of time than it would take visiting it on your own AND you have an enthusiastic guide to explain and point out various points of interest along the way. We hope you had a great time in Kyoto! Here is a comment your guide Shinnosuke Tsuji wrote in response to your lovely review: "Thank you for riding. Actually I also surprised about wheel air. I told him your Thanks and comments. I hope we meet again someday. we wait you here. Thank you." Best Regards, Guide: Shinnosuke TSUJI Staff: Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw

A bright spot in a cold, wet day!
Mar 2020
It was frigid and raining in Kyoto, and a Rickshaw ride was the last thing we expected to participate in.
To our surprise, the Rickshaw was made waterproof and we never got wet.

Our driver Yuichi Yeskizawa was fantastic. He spoke good English, and has a wonderful sene of humor. (request him if you can!)

The ride through the bamboo forest was dreamlike, and for a few minutes the rain stopped and the sun came out, facilitating beautiful pictures in the forest.

A very enjoyable 30 minutes through a quaint neigborhood and beautiful forest!

Dear Wayne, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us and our guided Yoshizawa in Kyoto Arashiyama earlier this month. Thank you so much for your review and feedback. The rickshaw is suitable for all weathers. In the summer the big roof protects you from the sun, in the winter the windows, roof, thick blankets and seat warmers protect you from the cold and on rainy days the roof and waterproof covers keep you dry and comfortable throughout the tour. This way you can enjoy Arashiyama and the bamboo forest in all seasons, though a rainy day will make the bamboo forest more vividly than ever! Here is a comment your guide Yoshizawa write in reply to your review: "Thank you Mr. Bruce Wayne for the ride in a heavy rainy day. I’m really glad to know that you had fun with the tour through the bamboo forest! Time flied so fast for me too! Transition of the weather was miraculous! You were very lucky to see it! Keep having heaps of funs and travel back home safe. Looking forward to see you again Sincerely Yuichi Yoshizawa" Best Regards, Guide: Yuichi YOSHIZAWA Staff: Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw

A must do for any visitor.
We took a 90min tour with Ka He, it was truly an amazing experience and we were treated with exceptional courtesy and he ensured we captured the moment by using his experience of photography and knowledge of the region. Even our 4 year old loved it from start to finish. I truly recommend this experience.

Dear Wally, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama the other day. Thank you very much for booking the tour in advance, but then even extending it to 90min! It is an honour to hear that you enjoyed the tour with our guide Ka He. Rickshaw Ride With Yuichi Yoshizawa

Yuichi was a very friendly person who spoke good English. He customized our Rickshaw tour to what we wanted to do and suited our timeframe. He gave us loads of cultural/local information throughout the tour. Yuichi then gave us other information to do around kyoto and guided us to where we were heading to next.

Must do experience. At first we weren’t going to torture some poor young man, having him tote us but Daisuke offered with confidence so we took him up on the offer. We did the short tour, just to the drop off point. He was great and took wonderful photos of us and with us.

Dear Bernadette, Thank you very much for taking the rickshaw tour with us and posting so many pictures too! Our guides are all super fit and strong, so there is no need to worry about taking the tour. Being able to run while talking and while pulling the rickshaw is something Daisuke has gotten not only used to, but is quite good at it. The bamboo forest by rickshaw is for sure a special experience, as you get to enjoy the bamboo away from the other visitors, on the special lane reserved for rickshaws only. Here is a comment Daisuke wrote in response to your review: "Thank you for riding the rickshaw. And thank you for your warm message! Though the tour was short, we were able to talk a lot and enjoy sightseeing in Arashiyama together. I will continue to run just fine, thanks to your encouraging message! I will continue to improve and I am looking forward to seeing you again some day! If you happen to come to Kyoto again, be sure to come to Arashiyama as well. Please take care of your body! Dear Tamara, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama back in February! Thank you also very much for sharing plenty of pictures from your trip, pictures with your guide or photos your guide took of you. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour given by our guide Somei. He knows the area really well and can show you the charm of Arashiyama, even in February. Here is a comment he wrote in response to your review: "Thank you for your comment. Hearing you say that you want to come back in the future made me extremely happy and motivates me to continue to strive in giving good tours. When you got on my rickshaw for the tour, the plum blossoms have just begun to bloom. Arashiyama's beautiful scenery changes depending on the season, so I am looking forward to meeting you and showing you around again in a different season. Please take care as the virus is raging across the world. Once again, thank you for riding the rickshaw." Best Regards, Guide: Muneaki TAKANO (nickname: Somei) Staff: Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw
