What to expect
  • Make your way to the Batik Workshop Center, a short distance from the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers, downtown attractions, and a range of transport options. You'll learn the basics of painting batik and follow the process from start to finish: start with an undyed fabric bag, and use wax to create your own custom pattern. Traditional Malaysian batik uses a technique called wax-resist dying that’s been practiced in Southeast Asia for hundreds of years, but Malaysian batiks have distinctive colors and patterns—try something traditional, or create your own design from scratch. Choose your colors and learn to fill them in, or practice mixing primary colors into fully-customized secondary hues. When you’ve completed the painting, remove the wax to reveal the finished product. After the workshop, you’ll have access to a nearby garden café and batik gallery, and may take home your creation, a 100% calico cotton bag that’s 13 inches (34 cm.) across.

A refreshing, lovely experience.
Nov 2020 • Family
As soon as I entered this place I fell in love with the airy, green feel of the place which is so special as it is within the city, the space feels welcoming. The host, a lady called Emelia has a positive, enthusiastic vibe, I have two children and they are lively and boisterous so they enjoyed running around the garden, it was not frowned upon by the host or the other customers. We painted a Batik picture which the children enjoyed and gave us a great souvenir of the day, I also purchased some Christmas cards, Christmas gifts, face masks and clothes which are very unique and solved Christmas present hunting nearer the time. I definitely will frequent this place and recommend to all of my friends, a bonus is it serves beer and great coffee and poached eggs x

AAM x myBatik
May 2019 • Friends
I attended one of American Association of Malaysia event collaboration with myBatik. The place can easily be missed but taking Grab makes this place easy to find. It is a humble place that serves great coffee. You can waste hours and hours just painting your own chosen block print batik that you personally dipped into wax. The process is quite fascinating and easy. If you have kids, this encourages them to have fun.

Excellent and worth the price
Sep 2018 • Friends
It was really by chance that I found this place as I have been bringing friends and guests to another place for batik painting. I called in the day before going and was able to book a slot for 5 of us. The place was easy to find with Google Maps. Plenty of free parking space as the centre is located in a housing area. There is a cafe inside from which you can purchase cakes and drinks while doing the painting. The staff were excellent and super helpful. So even if you messed, they will try to help as best as they can. You have the option of allowing them to complete the last two steps and return another day to pick up your painting. Otherwise, an instruction list is given on how to DIY at home. Some may comment that the price is steep however, I do think that you get what you pay for. A cool and quiet ambience to enjoy painting without hordes of tourists walking around trying to buy things. I am definitely bringing my guests and friends here after this. Good job and keep it up Emmilia and team!
