        Something different to try
Took this trip out of city to see fireflies. Stopped on the way to see monkeys which I was happy to look at from a distance and glad that they didn’t interact with you unless you bought the food to entice them on your back. The meal provided was excellent ( I don’t eat shellfish) there was chicken and veggies available. The boat trip was better than we expected. Not crowded and we saw lots of fireflies.

Worth a look but just be wary of online ticket purchase.
When we arrived at the desk there was some confusion over the online tickets I had bought. I was told I needed to get new tickets (cash only)?? Tour itself was okay but with a little wind there were only a few fireflies.

        Don’t waste your time
Long drive to see very little. Waste of time and money. Fireflies are stable and in the bushes. Yes, you do see the light. Almost nonexistent blue algae. We were given nets on a stick to stir the water and generate minute specs of color. Paid extra ten dollars each to see “blue” tiers.. lol. Our driver was nice and professional.

Really enjoyable tour, LG was great!
The tour was great, we got time inside the Sri Shakti Temple (I was only expecting a photo stop), visit Melawati Hill and see the views and monkeys, buy our own dinner (because we didn't like the set seafood dinner tours), boat ride and fireflies. As with all things nature, its a bit of luck on whether you interact with monkeys and see fireflies. The success for our tour really comes down our driver and guide LG. It was raining in KL, it was a Saturday, traffic was bad meaning timing was tight, but we still got to through the itinerary, we didn't feel rushed, LG gave just the right amount of commentary, got us up Melawati Hill, and liaised with the boat company to get us sorted on the busy jetty. A very safe pair of hands. Re: the fireflies, there is a number of reviews that question whether its worth the tour. IMHO, sure they are like low wattage xmas lights, I'd recommend doing it if you haven't seen them before and because its an experience in a new country on top of the temple, hill, monkeys, commentary and boat ride.

        No fireflies
Do not do this. We were forced to step in the boat when is was not yet dark. So no fireflies. But in stead of waiting they returned to pick up next tourists Disappointing. Especially for kids.

        Disappointing
We were too early for a good view of the fireflies and we paid extra to do the blue tears also but disappointed as the water was very coffee coloured and very little phosphorus

        Absolutely amazing
The tour was better than expected. Our tour guide picked us up from our accommodation and was very knowledgeable pointing out things of interest along the way. First stop was the Hindu temple and it was quite amazing. We were told the history of the temple and all about its construction. Second stop was the monkeys. Wasn’t expecting this part and it was absolutely amazing! The third and final stop was the fireflies tour itself. If you forget to take insect repellant, don’t panic, you can get it there for 5 MYR. It was about an hours boat ride out and back and the fireflies are pretty spectacular, especially once it gets darker. We had a great time on this tour and it’s been one of the highlights of our trip. I’d highly recommend doing this if you’re in Malaysia!

        Was okay
The excursion was “Okay”- would not recommend if you have limited time in the country/ as a main plan. The fireflies view was underwhelming. The highlight of the trip was the silverback monkeys. My Son really enjoyed that (9). This would be a nice experience as just something to do on a chill day.

        Kuala Selangor fireflies tour
Our tour guide LG picked up from our hotel on time at 16:00 and we immediately left to go to the first stop at the Sri Shakti temple. We were given an explanation of the temple as well as for the fireflies on the way there. LG was very knowledgeable and gave us a very good explanation of the temple itself as well as about the history and culture of Hinduism in Malaysia. The temple itself was stunning with all of the sculptures being hand carved. We then saw the silver leaf monkeys for around an hour before travelling to the fireflies where we had a little free time to get food and drink before the tour started at 19:00. The fireflies tour is around an hour long with around half the time on the boat getting to the fireflies, however seeing the fireflies is fully worth it. There were heaps of the about in the mangroves with the tour operators catching some of them with a net to bring them into the boat, so you don't need to worry about not seeing them! We then finished off by seeing the bioluminescence, which is slightly past the starting point. After this the tour finished back at the hotel around 22:00 Overall the tour was well run, with LG being an excellent tour guide with good English speaking skills. Water is provided however food is not, so would recommend to bring some cash to get some food at the seafood restaurant just before the fireflies tour starts. The fireflies is included as part of the tour however the bioluminescence is not, so if you do want to see that make sure to bring more cash for that too. Suncream not needed as its late in the day, but ensure you wear enclosed clothing for the temple (additional clothes are provided) as knees and shoulders need to be covered. Unless you have an excellent camera it is hard to get a good photo of the fireflies and bioluminescence, so just enjoy the experience and don't worry too much about the perfect photo!

        A nice evening tour
Mr. Loga Nathan picked me up at my hotel exactly when he indicated. He is a very educated guide and a great driver. We had nine people in his comfortable van and made a toilet pit stop along the way. With the traffic it took about 2 hours to get to the first stop, a Hindu Temple which was beautiful an then the highlight of the tour was seeing the monkeys. Then we went up a nearby mountain to see a former Fort. Then a short ride to the docks with the boats for the Firefly tour. We had about 45 minutes before boarding so Mr. Nathan show us some Chinese seafood restaurants with no menu prices indicated there. The food was not too good. Then we were given life vests before boarding. I was somewhat disappointed as we only seen a few lightening bugs in the bushes during the one hour roundtrip boat ride; I was expecting something unique to Malaysia but we have lightening bugs at home in the USA. We arrive back in Kuala Lumpur around 10pm. I must again compliment Mr. Nathan for his knowledge and excellent tour.

        Great tour & guide!
Great tour! As a rule, I don't take tours because I'm usually disappointed but this was a great tour! And you couldn't ask for a better guide. My guide arrived promptly to pick me up and then we proceeded to 3 destinations before arriving at the boat dock -- a beautiful temple, a park to see some silver/black monkeys, and then a lighthouse which provided a beautiful view. From there we proceeded to the dock and took a boat ride to see hundreds of fireflies amongst the mango trees. Quite a treat! You will not find a better guide. He is polite, prompt, and he answered everyone's questions and shared a lot of local knowledge with us. You will definitely get you money's worth on this trip. Do not hesitate to book a tour.

        DO NOT BOOK!! TRUST ME
This company is honestly one of the worst I have encountered. I booked for 5pm and the guide told me in less than 24 hours that we were to meet at 4pm because it was a holiday and he needed to avoid traffic. As an American, why tf would I know it was a Malaysian holiday and I needed to be somewhere early to avoid traffic. We were then left behind because he was in such a rush. If I booked something for 5pm why would I come at 4pm? As we prepared to meet him and made our way to him, he just decided to cancel our booking, so we basically wasted money and gas. Additionally, the price we paid included hotel pick up and drop off but they weren’t even willing to pick us up and didn’t have the decency to wait until we got there. Honestly they were just rude and disrespectful. Do not book !!!

        Firefly national park
Awesome trip to firefly national park! The guide provided a well-organised pickup from the hotel and made a few interesting stops on the way to the boat. The boat ride itself is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with breathtaking views over hundreds of fireflies, all lighting up suddenly few meters away from you. Definitely recommended and well worth the money paid.

This tour is well worth doing. Our driver and guide, LG, was great. He picked us up promptly and took us to an interesting Hindu temple and a place to see and interact with silver leaf monkeys as well as an old lighthouse with views over the Straits of Malacca before delivering us to the firefly jetty in time to have a quick meal (delicious and reasonably priced) before the boat trip. The fireflies were amazing. It’s best to wait till there have been two days without rain before going on a clear night. They were dazzling. The luminescent blue algae was interesting too. LG got us back to KL in good time and even dropped a couple of us at the monorail station as it was more convenient for us than the hotel pickup. Highly recommended.

Not worth the money. A taxi would cost much less to hire and most of the stops are free so I am not sure why it is so expensive. The boat ride is probably the only expensive part.

Also the pics especially for the blue tears are exatutarted. We hardly saw it in reality.

LG was an amazing tour guide! Hotel pick-up is super convenient and any queation our group had, he could answer. Also took us to unplanned landmarks and made the whole experience unforgettable. Can recommend this trip to anyone visiting KL for the first time who also doesn't have a lot of time available to see everything.

The tour was OK. Lots of time spent traveling. Fireflies look like lights blinking in the trees. You do not get to see the fireflies up close and no explanation is given. Time seeing the fireflies was about 5-10 minutes. Same with the Blue tears. You are given a net to put in the water as the boat travels slowly for about 5-10 minutes. If you have never seen bioluminescence, then maybe it may be of some interest. It is brackish water though so the color of the water is brown. The other two stops were really a waste of time,a Hindu temple elaboratly carved, built about 10 years ago and a park with llighthouse where you can see some ocean…Monkeys everywhere. Again no explanation given during these two stops. We left at 4 pm got back at 10 pm. IMO not really worth the time or money.

Enjoyed the high speed boat ride and eagle feeding at sunset (which was an additional cost). This should be included in the price as it was a continuous boat journey. Fireflies were nice but not spectacular, the blue tiers underwhelming. Driver was nice and professional. The temple was interesting but the monkey experience was literally feeding monkeys in a car park despite the signs saying do not feed the monkeys. Chaotic.

An amazing trip with so many wow! moments! The tour leader was very caring and looked after me as a solo travel so well! He really did accommodated my needs and I felt very safe. Great transport and loved all the sights. Highlight was the boat trip to see the fireflies and luminous plankton. The meal was optional, but so happy I did it! Absolutely delicious and the best meal I had in Malaysia. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour. The guide was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The sites were great - visited a Hindu Temple, fed Silverleaf monkeys and saw Macaque monkeys too, amazing lookout point, fun high speed boat trip to see fireflies and bioluminescent water - an excellent mix of experiences with an excellent guide. Highly recommended!

We did the Firefly & Blue Tears Tour which was amazing. But most noticeable was LG, our tour guide. He was taking us to several great places of interest along the route (Indian temple, Kings Palace, Light House, Monkeys place, Independence Place,…), he was very knowledgeable and gave us great insights on culture, nature, people etc.!

We travel a lot, but this was really a special tour. The tour was supposed to take 5 hours, finally we ended up with 6 hours as LG was really passionate of showing us as much us possible. Thank you! We will come back for sure!

I recently went on a firefly tour with Metro Tour, and it was an absolute delight! The experience started with watching monkeys near Mount Malawati, followed by a delicious seafood dinner at a fishing village. The highlight was the 40-minute boat trip, where we were treated to a mesmerizing display of fireflies. The speedy boat added an extra element of fun, ensuring everyone had a fair chance to enjoy the trip. We even spotted some lizards along the river, adding to the adventure. A special shout-out to our private transfer, Mr. Standley Pute from Metro Tour, who was wonderful and contributed to making this tour unforgettable. Highly recommended for a magical evening surrounded by nature's wonders!

You spend 5 minutes looking at fireflies on the river’s edge and another 5 minutes scooping out algae that glows for a few seconds. Not worth the cost and definitely not worth the 5-6 hours of travel to and from KL. The driver of the shuttle was good. Nothing else was.
