Your tour will start with pickup from either the Delhi Airport or your hotel at 6am. You will then travel to Agra via expressway in your private air-conditioned car for approximately 3.5 hours (250km) with your professional driver. You'll arrive in Agra by 9:45am and meet your guide. After a brief review of the day's itinerary, you'll head off to the Taj Mahal.
When you visit the Taj Mahal, you'll find out first-hand why it is called the Crown Jewel of India. Discover this great symbol of love and dedication with the help of your guide's commentary. Learn how this mausoleum was built by Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. See the beautiful ivory-white marble that is the signature of this masterpiece. Admire the distinctive Indo-Islamic architecture, such as the arches and domes. Marvel at how the structure plays with light and shadows. Following your Taj Mahal tour, you'll travel to Agra Fort at 12:30pm. Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar and is known as the Red Fort because of the red sandstone used to create this powerful fortress. Standing on the right bank of the Yamuna Fort, this historical fort is very impressive and serves as a reminder of the Mughal Dynasty.
Sit down to a delicious lunch at a local restaurant at 1:45pm. After the leisurely lunch, you'll have some free time to explore the area. Next, drive to Mehtab Bagh that sits on the northern shore of the Yamuna. Stroll the centuries-old garden complex to an observation point that provides you with a stunning view of the Taj Mahal.
You'll return to Agra City at 4:30pm, where you can take advantage of some free time to self-explore. Visit the marketplace where craftsmen, artists, and other vendors come to sell their wares. You'll meet your guide at 5pm to head back to Delhi, with a return to your hotel by 8:30pm
