        Great trip
Activities were super fun and generally well organized. Great way to see a beautiful canyon and river. Minor word of caution that the horses seemed a little skittish for trail horses.

Meh ... Self tour of you can
The volcano tour is a gravel trail and many steps in a loop around the steam vents. You do not go high up the volcano. Also, it is not a lava volcano, but steam. We heard animals, but did not see them. If you use a tour guide, you are on a strict schedule at the stops. We did not get to stop for souvenirs, as described, due to traffic and the guides wanting to get home. The hot springs are amazing and I recommend driving yourself to allow time to enjoy. The waterfall is cold and refreshing.

        A fun filled day.
Amazingly fun. The tubing is by far the best. Lots of help from the guides if you get stuck too. The horseback ride was much better than other ones I have taken. You take an interesting route through the jungle.

Awesome excursion! Kevin Pina is the best!
Kevin Pina was awesome! Extremely knowledgeable of the plant and animal life in the area and brings a great energy to the whole excursion. Highly recommend taking this trip if you have the time. Lots of great features to help feel fully immersed in the deep beauties of Guanacaste beyond the coastline

Enjoying Natural Beauty of Costa Rica
Fun day of hiking, lunch, waterfall swim, and relaxing in the natural hot springs for our multi generational family of 6! Our guide was great informing us about the area and answering questions. It was a very hot day which made the 2 mile moderate hike with many steps more challenging for those of us 70ish even though we’re active. The waterfall is beautiful, the water temp is cold which they tell you. I went in to my knees which was refreshing. Lunch was great! And the hot springs felt so good after an active day! We’re glad we went and would definitely recommend doing it! Linda Martin March 2025

        Many Amazing Things but…
We absolutely loved the zip line, water tubing, and hot springs portions of this excursion. These were incredible!! Lunch was great too! The downsides to this excursion: we never did get to see the volcano and the horseback riding was along a very dusty rocky trail. Throughout the entire excursion, all of the staff were absolutely amazing!!

Absolute spot to experience Costa Rican adventures!!
Highly recommended for a full day of different adventures. We used Shaman Tours (Garçon was our guide) for transport from Playa Hermosa and it made a lot of difference. Horseback riding is not my favorite thing but it was nice and leisurely. The horses are well trained and well behaved. No issues with my youngest riding alone. Lasted about an 30-45 min. Next we did river rafting in inner tubes. Super fun. Low rated rapids with cold but refreshing water in the heat. Kids had a great time. Shallow enough to stand and occasionally feel bumps on your butt. Lasted about 1-1.5 hours. Next was the zipline tour. I’m not a big fan of heights but thought I should do it because, well, we are in Costa Rica. Scary but awesome. Did tandem with my youngest who HATES rollercoasters until he was comfortable with going himself. My guide was able to snag me a helmet with a GoPro attachment. Absolutely the coolest thing lining through the river canyon. Lunch was typical Costa Rican buffet style but absolutely delicious and filling. Lastly was the mud baths. Because it was already so hot, our guide was able to arrange for access to this beautiful waterfall instead. We swam in cool refreshing water at the end of the day. Highly recommend this place. Would also recommend using Shaman Tours (shout out to Garçon), especially if you need transportation from the hotel.

        PURA VIDA
The tour was one of the greatest experiences and it wouldn’t be possible without our tour guides who were flawless. Thanks a lot to David and Jorge, from the pick up/drop off to the drive and also them taking time to explain the Costa Rican culture and food, it was just perfect. Other than that all the activities surpassed expectations and everyone had immense fun even the kids. Would definitely recommend this tour to others and even the amazing tour guides (David & Jorge)!

        Highly Recommended Tour
I did the Rio Celeste tour and tubing downriver with our guide Manfred. It was an awesome experience. The weather was great and the views were majestic. Our guide was very patient and not at all pushy with the additionals. Our tour guide was young but knowledgeable and respectful. I can see him going places in Costa Rica's tourism industry.

Epic adventure not for the lazy!
Our tour guide and driver were the absolute best. All in all this tour was one of the greatest experiences one could ask for. The pick up was flawless, the drive incredible, the lunch perfect. The experience--priceless. An epic adventure. Just a couple things I must let others considering this know about: IT IS VERY TIRING and not for those that are not in shape. The river ride is intense. It is not as simple as sitting in a tube. It can get very intense at times so don't expect to just be on a lazy river. Once it's done you need to carry your tube up a huge hill and if this is the last activity of the day you'll be VERY tired. The ZIP LINING is also intense at times. It is not just clip and go. In the heat it can be pretty intense and the time between different lines is pretty short so you are moving rapidly. Besides that...you will not get a better experience anywhere. Well worth every penny. Superb.

An Amazing excursion that I will not forget
Trip to Nicaragua on Tuesday 3rd March 2025 with Nexus We left Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica at 6.40am and our coach driver, drove us 30 minutes to La Cruz. 1st stop was at La Cruz to look and take photos at the view point. We then drove 5-10 minutes to join the larger coach with guests from other hotels to continue our excursion to Nicaragua. We drove a further 20 minutes to cross the Nicaragua border. At Nicaragua boarder we had to stand in a line to wait for our passports to be stamped, finger and thumb prints taken and pay $13 tax. Immigrations were very busy and we had to wait in line for about 20 minutes 1st stop was to look at the stunning 'San Juna del Sur beach' when we climbed the steps to see 'Christ of Mercy statue' the views and photo opportunities was breathtaking. The story behind the statue, warmed your heart. 2nd stop to Granada the oldest Cologne city in North America with a tour of the city in a horse drawn cart. We paid $20 for a 1 hour tour on a horse and cart, which was worth every penny as the tour guide showed us many places of interest that we could go and explore and the information he told us was fascinating. We stopped off at a chocolate factory / shop called Bate Bate chocolate, cathedral and the city square. We then stopped for Lunch in Granada and had a lovely meal. We had the choice of 4 different dishes we could select 3rd stop at Monkey island lake tour at Lake Nicaragua. This boat tour was one of our favourite parts of the trip, seeing the islands with fantastic properties build on them was breathtaking. 4th stop was at Catarina to take some photos from the view point and visit the local market. The market is a must and excellent prices for souvenirs. We drove back to Nicaragua boarder control to have our passports stamped, then next door to Costa Rica passport control to have our passports stamped and pay $3 tax to enter Costa Rica again. Cross the border 20 minutes from Nicaragua boarder to La Cruz, then 30 minutes to the hotel Unfortunately, we were unable to visit the Masaya Volcano nicknamed The Gates of Hell, as there had been a landslide 6 months previously and the volcano was very active. Christ of Mercy statue was the substitute visit for the volcano. Left hotel at 6.45am back at 7.45pm I absolutely loved this excersion and so glad we experience Nicaragua and learned the fascinating history of the country

Great Flora & Fauna education. Intensity of the hike was greater than staff indicated. Bring your walking sticks!!! And I would recommend if you have ANY health concerns absolutely don’t go on this tour.

        Fantastic Trail Ride
AMAZING TOUR!!! My daughter was minimum age required for this tour and she did wonderful- loved the galloping and cantering on the beach. She's an avid rider and has been riding for a couple years. She was obsessed with this as the trail rides back home don't always allow younger riders to ride to their ability. That being said: I wouldn't have been comfortable putting a child on who had never been on a horse before on this trail ride. There was a lot of uneven terrain, ups and downs. It was very helpful knowing how to sit in a saddle and move with the horse. Also- these horses were amazing and gentle...but they liked to go fast. I had to work to keep mine at the pace I wanted. That might be difficult for a child who hasn't ridden. If you have a child who hasn't been on- I would consider booking a private tour and just letting them know. They were WONDERFUL with my daughter and she asked to go back each day we were there. Highly recommend!

        River Tubing Adventure!
I wanted to call out the extraordinary staff and the care they take for their guests. River tubing was quite scary but they helped us through with safety in mind.

This is a popular park. Buy your tickets online ahead of arrival for a 40-minute arrival window. You can’t buy at the window and the internet/cell coverage is poor here. The parking lot is 3000 CRC extra. They will go through your bags when you enter the park to make sure you don’t have food or plastic bottles. The only restroom in the park is after you show your tickets. They are clean.

The walk down to the falls is gradual and we saw lots of little wildlife. It’s 200 steps down to the base of the falls. The sun wasn’t out so it wasn’t as blue as in other pictures we saw. You can’t swim in it due to the minerals in the water.

Most people stop here. You can go further upriver to a few lookouts eventually going to where the 2 rivers meet. This part is very hilly – lots of climbing over big rocks and steps. We saw a lot of animals - including an anteater.

We didn’t use a guide, just kept an eye on when groups stopped or other guides pointed something out Allow 2 hours for just the main waterfall - 3 to 4 if you want to go to the end of the trail.

This park is a little out of the way but can be set up as a day trip from La Fortuna or Monteverde, or as a stop when driving between the two. We hiked through the entire park. It’s quite a hike in this hot and humid part of the country but really enjoyed the views and wildlife. I highly recommend at least checking out the waterfall.

Lots of reviewers say hard to find on Google Maps. Use “Parqueo del Parque Nacional Tenorio” as your destination.

We booked 4 tours with Native's Way on their website. Three were postponed for a week because of heavy rain and one was cancelled. Through all that, Native's Way maintained excellent communication and gave me a fast refund for the cancelled tour.
Their drivers were on time and the tour guides were knowledgeable, entertaining, and friendly. Prices from this company were lower than their competitors' prices. Highly recommended.

We took a private tour with Alex and it was awesome! He was right on time picking us up, the car was very comfortable and he made sure to personalize our stops based on what we wanted. He changed up the schedule a little from the program (asking us first) to ensure we beat the rain, tourist rush, and was able to explore and take pictures all to ourselves without the crowds. He even took great pictures of us. I would highly suggest bringing small bills as the tour only provides a driver, you will be guided by others along the way and they expect small tips.

My fiancé and I booked a private all day excursion for $500. We waiting outside our hotel for over an hour and our private shuttle never arrived. I called the day before to confirm that we were going and even sent four emails the day before asking for the vendor to confirm the pick up time. Every email I sent they said it was confirmed and that the details would be sent soon. They never came. Disappointed!

Then when I called to ask where in the world the shuttle was they said there was a miscommunication. They offered me a sunset cruise which totaled $230 which is $270 less than what I paid. Unsatisfied

Unfortunately, you feel like herded cattle throughout this entire excursion. It is a very long day, most of which is spent on the bus due to the fact that you leave from the Tamarindo area which is not close to the desired points of interest at all. We were being rushed through every single stop and would get frustrated sighs from the tour guide whenever folks needed to use a restroom, change for swimming in the waterfall, etc. as they are trying to keep to a very tight, near impossible timeframe. It mostly felt like we were being brought through these areas for quick photo opps instead of to see, learn, and enjoy. I strongly recommend that if you are in a group of family/friends you rent a car for the day instead - it will be cheaper and much, much more comfortable, not to mention you can do things at your own pace. The folks we saw at these sites who'd taken their own vehicles looked much happier and more comfortable than us. If you do however choose to go with this excursion, ensure that you have proper rain gear and towels as it is very likely you get drenched when you visit the rain forest to see the second waterfall and you will be extremely uncomfortable in a maxed out bus if you are wet and cramped for the rest of the day.

We went hiking here last year and had no problem buying tickets at the counter, so we thought that would be our experience this time as well...... WRONG! Now you need to buy your tickets online. They say there is wifi available, but it didn't work for a single person who tried. There are some men outside who will buy tickets for you for a few extra bucks, or you can go to the restaurant across the street and get their wifi with purchase. You also need your ID number to purchase a ticket. It was just such a hassle and took us so long to get access which was very frustrating since it was so easy last time.

Once we finally made it inside, the walks were beautiful. They were not long, but there were a lot of stairs so it was fairly challenging! We saw a few people wearing sandals, but I would recommend real shoes. The waterfall and the area where the rivers meet were amazing. We saw a really cool green snake and a couple of toucans.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go here, but make sure you prepare.

I need to write this review in 2 sections.

      1. Our guide Ivan was amazing. He did everything he could to make this an amazing trip, and he was very informative throughout the whole trip.
The activities and locations were amazing and breathtaking as well. I recommend that you make sure to do these while you are in Costa Rica.
      2. The transfer/ transportation of this trip was not fun. There were too many stops to pick up people and or transfer them to other buses. Many of these stops we had to wait 15-20 minutes for the other vehicle to show up. Throw in the horrible traffic, and this makes for a very long and tiring day of commuting, so just be aware of this before booking.

I’ll start this off by saying the national parks are awesome, the Rio Celeste park has a bunch of different hikes! You can’t swim at that water fall :(, but all of that being said; you can do this entire adventure much cheaper if you don’t get a guide. The only thing included that they provide (which you paid for) is the lunch. Even that got messed up. The price to get into the parks is substantially cheaper if you go on your own, the trails are very maintained and super easy to navigate. The park entrance fees are no more than 15$ and the guide drags one hike out to be an hour and a half when you could do all the hikes on your own in the same amount of time. Maybe it was just our guide that made it obvious that it is a scam but highly recommend visiting all the parks on your own! Do your research :)

The trip there and during the 3 tours was very good, Jorge is excellent as a tour guide and it was a well paced experience. The trip home after the last tour, however, was absolute hell. We were driven for the first 90 minutes and then had to transfer shuttles to a diff group with diff guide and driver. There was a large family in the shuttle and the guide acted like it was a private party shuttle for just this family with music blasting based on whatever they wanted to hear, the guide messing around with the interior lights to make them look like strobe lights, and everyone acting like a pile of drunks. Then the guide, without asking any other family onboard, stopped 2x without permission. First it was to drive to pick up an additional driver at his house, then he had the shuttle stop at a grocery store for 45 minutes for this same family while the rest of us sat there in a parking lot…again, we had no idea what was going on because he was only talking to the people in the front row with complete disregard for everyone else. What could have been a 2.5 hour trip back took over 5 hours (14.5 hours total for the day) with all of us exhausted from the day in the heat and hiking up a volcano, plus my young daughter was battling motion sickness trying to rest with music blasting and the interior lights flashing . Even though the other guides introduced themselves, this guide refused to give his name as we got off, as he finally realized he had just royally screwed up. I would give the tour 5 stars and less than zero for the trip home, unbelievably inappropriate and disrespectful.

The perfect medley of everything that makes Costa Rica unique and spectacular. We felt wonderful hospitality from our tour guide, Jorge, who was by our side the entire day providing clear and insightful information about Costa Rican culture and nature.

The tour was well organized with frequent stops for refreshments and restrooms. The vehicle was comfortable with AC, seatbelts, and Latin music. I would recommend bringing Gravol or similar for those prone to motion sickness- the roads wind through the mountains and the terrain can be difficult at times. Our "need for speed" driver Didier expertly navigated it all.

Bring a towel and a change of clothes, there are two opportunities to swim in fresh waters. Wear comfortable shoes, there is plenty of walking involved. Bring bug spray, the mosquitoes show no mercy.

Overall, a perfect introduction to the land of Costa Rica and an unforgettable experience to add to your trip.
