Nature at it's best! It is wonderful when you can be a witness to amazing things this universe has to offer us. I was in awe as my family and I got to watch as two turtles dug out the sand, lay about sixty eggs in the sand and then bury them so carefully. Nothing will prepare you for this, but you will be so grateful and have a new respect for turtles and their survival rate. The guide did his best to not disturb the natural process and he provided us a close look at what happens in the process while answering all of our questions.

This was an absolutely amazing experience and it was thanks to the expertise and organisation of the guide that it was so good. He clearly knew his stuff and was able to provide information and answer any questions on turtles. This included where to find the turtles (both hatchlings and mothers laying eggs) and was skilfully able to direct our group around a dark beach so as minimise and give respect to the turtles and their habitat without disturbing them. Would highly recommend.

The tour guide worked diligently managing the safety and experience of the guests and the turtles. We saw two Pacific Greens heading back to the water after laying their eggs and we were all very happy. The guide encouraged us to stay for another half an hour and our patience was rewarded. A Pacific Green came out of the water and laid her eggs right in front of us!

Native’s Way Tours was terrific to work with. Morgan and other staff helped us set up a series of tours including a sunset catamaran, night time turtle nesting, and snorkeling. I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience.

Our tour guide for the turtle nesting tour, Ivan, was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. He was respectful of the turtles and careful not to disturb them, which we greatly appreciated. He was friendly and kind and made the entire experience delightful.

Ivan found us a turtle. We watched the entire process, from her beginning to excavate her nest, to digging the deeper hole in which she buries her eggs, to laying ~75 eggs, to covering them in the end. We were able to lay on our bellies and watch, with our faces only about two feet from her tail.

It was an incredible and profound experience. It was one of the things I most wanted to see while in Costa Rica and it far exceeded my expectations. Native’s Way Tours was instrumental in this process. You’ll be in good hands working with them!! I couldn’t recommend them more.

Thank you Morgan, Ivan, and others for making our time in Costa Rica so magical!

Ivan and Alexander were amazing guides, equally knowledgeable and hospitable. Even having studied Biology and sea turtles in college, I learned so much more in one evening here. The guide’s attitudes were beautiful: positive and grateful for the opportunities to see nature’s wonders. Our five year old loved it too, and peppered the guides with her questions - each of which they answered as fully and lovingly as those of the adults. This has by far been the highlight of our first trip here to Costa Rica: not just for my wife and me but for our kids as well.

If you love nature and love animals this tour is for you. Our tour host Carlos was amazing and so knowledgable on turtles he gave us a brief lesson on each of the turtles and their nesting habits in the van on the way there. We were very lucky and we able to see greenback baby turtles, olive ridley baby turtles and a mother black back turtle laying her eggs! Carlos spoke with such respect and understanding of mother nature and the turtles, it was lovely! Even after we spotted the baby turtles he said he was determined to find us a big one and drove us to a different beach as the first stop was quite full of other tour groups at one point. We even got to help the last turtles that had been oxygen-deprived and guided them into the water for the first time. It was beautiful, I would absolutely recommend this tour!

the team were extremely careful to minimize the impact on the habitat. The turtles are not interfered with as they migrate from the beach to the ocean. We were so lucky to be able to see a female laying her eggs on a secluded beach. The groups are quite large and the team does try their best to wrangle the crowds, but you do end up standing around waiting fro your turn (nothing much can be done about that)
They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Tamarindo, and even helped our elderly parents on the hike. Great guys! FYI, dont forget to tip the team!

I actually did this tour 2 nights while in Tamarindo since I'm a biologist in the States and wanted as much as possible. The first night we saw a black (Green Pacific subspecies) turtle come onto the beach but left due to hermit crabs on the place she chose, and then a successful black turtle nesting. It takes a while for her to prepare the nest site and the guides did a great job explaining the process while we waited. As she got ready to lay the eggs, we were allowed to sneak up close, and I mean 5 feet away to a live sea turtle. Very Cool! We stayed long enough to get our fill of pictures and the experience, then headed back. Be prepared for a half hour of bumpy roads coming and going. The second night was an almost but not quite successful black turtle nest. Even with the guides adding water, the sand was too dry for the nest.
