We went with my wife and 15 year old daughter, out on two 2 man outriggers, paddling to go fishing with net and chase the fish in, the experience felt surreal, as you are out in the ocean with Sam our guide and Manu in other outrigger, it’s a real adventure, afterwards we went to their welcoming home in the hillside for a wonderful lunch. We got to also meet his wife Silvy and see their extensive fruit and spice garden. Simply great and very unique time!

Amazing, Fun, Educational, Personal, Eco-Friendly, REAL. So many positive things to say about Sam and his entire team! We had the chance to go fishing in the lagoon, the current was very strong that day so fishing was not the best, but I loved swimming in the lagoon with the current and the waves! I love experiencing the real environment when its not all calm and perfect. We set the net twice with no fish, but then the 3rd time we caught some! After fishing we went back to Sam's house and had lunch, and he showed us his amazing garden. My favorite part of the whole tour was the conversation and stories we told each other over lunch. We talked about cars, bands, and trips we all had taken. I feel like we came away with amazing new friends! I can not wait to go back!!!
Thank you so much!!!

Whenever you travel it is always great knowing a local so that you can get a true experience of the local culture and this was the perfect way to do it since this was our first time visiting Moorea!! Sam and Manu conveniently picked us up from our hotel and we had the best day. From going out on an outrigger, learning how to set up the fishing net, snorkel in the beautiful lagoon, swim with huge rays...our time on the water was great! That was just the start of it though. Going back to Sam’s house and meeting his lovely wife Sylvie and beautiful family was so fun. They were such gracious hosts, prepared an unforgettable meal (including the fish we caught), taught us how to crack open and grate a coconut and after lunch took us on a tour of their incredible garden! They truly make you feel at home and the laughs we shared throughout the day made it the best experience. We HIGHLY recommend this excursion and will absolutely do it again when we return.

My wife and I travel extensively and have been on some real neat excursions. This one was certainly one of the very best. We actually spent a day with a Moorean fisherman and farmer. He picked us up as the ferry port and then took us to the west side of the island where we met up with one of his friends. We paddled outriggers our to the reef and then proceeded to help them set fishing nets and chase fish into the net as we swam noisily from a starting point towards the net. We did this three times and caught enough fish for our lunch and his friend’s too. We also got to snorkel while they set the fishing net. Beautiful views of the island. Afterwards we went to the fisherman’s home where he and his wife cooked lunch for us with the fish we caught. They also made ceviche with homegrown coconuts and limes. He took us on a tour of his little farm where he grew every tropical fruit and vegetable you could imagine, including what they served us for lunch. We sat in their home and enjoyed lunch together. We then headed back to the ferry by circling the island and checking out Belvedere Point. Great day! Sam and his wife Sylvia were awesome!!!

Amazing. Can’t say enough about how good this tour was. Incredible. My only regret is that I didn’t do it again while I was in Moorea. So fun. So cool. Great food. Great people. Beautiful! I can’t wait to do it again when I get a chance to visit Moorea again.

I cannot say enough great things about this tour. Sam and Manu were the highlight of our trip to Moorea. They are true locals and absolutely the best! They picked us up at the hotel in a jeep. They took us out to the lagoon in an outrigger that we helped row, we then got into the lagoon in our snorkel and fins and chased the fish into a net that they had set up. We caught 3 parrot fish! We snorkeled the lagoon, and it was incredible! They then took us back to Sam's house where they had set up a LOVELY outdoor covered lunch for us. They cooked the fish and sides while we enjoyed refreshments. They showed us how they grate coconuts to then squeeze the coconut milk out. DELICIOUS!! We chatted and enjoyed their company. We toured his beautiful farm that they tend to themselves. So many fruit and vegetables and gorgeous flowers. We truly enjoyed ourselves. HIGHLY recommend, do not miss this!!

We enjoyed our day with Sam and Sylvie! We experienced canoeing on the lagoon on an outrigger canoe, net fishing, scaling the fish and saying hi to the rays, then peeling and opening a coconut, a delicious lunch with the fish we fished and other traditional dishes, and a tour of Sam and Sylvie's gorgeous garden.
The tour was adapted with safe distance due to Covid 19. The experience felt very authentic, and what we enjoyed the most, was our conversations with Sam about Polynesian mythology, history and cultural identity. Would highly recommend!

If there is one thing you need to do in Moorea, spend the day with a local!
We have chosen this excursion because we were keen on learning Polynesian culture!! We wanted to know their history, learn about the way they live and practice activities they are doing on a daily basis!
Well, we were served!!
Sam came to pick us up to our hotel in the morning and then took us at is place! We spent the morning fishing with him and his nephew Manu and then he took us back to his place, where his wife were cooking the fish we took in the morning! The lunch was great!! Delicious meal! We had the opportunity to discuss with them about the life in french polynesia!
In the afternoon, he took us to visit his plantation!
Sam is a lovely guide, you can feel that he loves his country, his history!
He is full of knowledge about tales and ancient histories!!
It was a very interesting day! We highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our day! This was by far the best activity we did. Sam and his nephews are amazing guides to local culture. We took outriggers out on the water, which was great fun even though the waters were choppy that day. Sam and his charming nephews set the nets, then we swam fast to get fish into them. The highlight was the fantastic feast at his home and watching him and his lovely wife, Sylvie, make everything -- even the homemade juice for the rum punch. The tour of his well tended and beautifully laid out gardens -- using all organic materials -- was fascinating. I've never seen such huge avocados or papaya. We got a real taste of authentic island life and I've thoroughly impressed with how everything is used and re-used and how beautiful life there is. A great experience with his gamily that I'll never forget. If you do one thing on Moorea, do this.

If you want to truly experience the Tahitian culture this is the tour for you. You will go fishing with his cousin, then go up to his home in the valley he will cook you a local meal with the fish we caught. We then walked around his farm before heading back to the ship.

There are 4 of us that would very much like to experience this tour -- but 1 of us has back problems. Which part of the activity is a problem for one suffering from back problems? Is it the boating portion of the tour? If so, can our fourth person come and sit on the beach and sit out the boat portion of the trip... but participate in the remaining part of the trip? Thank you.

The person with back problems could sit on the shore, but may not have a good view of the fishing since you paddle out a ways into the bay. Perhaps the person could paddle out to where the group will fish, but stay in the boat while others set the nets and drive the fish into the nets. You can certainly ask the tour guide.
