Beautiful beyond belief
Absolutely breathtaking!! My 13 yr old granddaughter was totally enchanted. Even though it was raining on and off, this is a must see. Flowers are other worldly. So jealous!! The upside down trees are magic. Our guide was well informed and very enthusiastic. This was a vision of a genius. I would definitely go again and again!

Thank you for visiting with us here at the Gardens, we are so greatful for all the wonderful comments we recieve. The guides work hard to give a educational and fun tour of the Tongass forest. Steve's Flower Towers are such a magical part of the Gardens, his favorite saying "A veiw you is what you see with your eyes open." "A vision you can see with your eyes shut."

OK for an easy, non-aerobic way to kill an hour
Jul 2021
While it was pretty and we learned some interesting tidbits about Temporal Rainforests, I would be hard pressed to recommend this tour. I had expected to learn more nitty-gritty about the flora of the rainforest and the area, and it really was just a bus tour showing us pretty annuals planted in upside-down trees. We rode our bikes from downtown Juneau expecting to learn more about the area. It was pretty and there were some interesting tid-bits, but in hindsight we should have spent our $ elsewhere. If you want a relaxing, low-stress, non-aerobic view of pretty annuals, this is the tour for you!

Thank you for visiting the Gardens, Steve did design the Gardens to be accessible for everyone. If you have limited mobility you can also take the tour through the rainforest. The open air shuttles gives a up close look at how the Tongass forest has regrown after the Glacier receded. Steve did plant blooming gardens throughout the tour, even at the Boardwalk at the 600 ft of Thunder Mountian. Glacier Gardens is a relaxing low-stress tour we hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy. I hope you did find some of Juneau's beautiful hiking trails, many available with a good aerobic attributes.

Beautiful Garden
Beautiful gardens accessible from downtown via the z3 or 4 bus, $2 each way.

Gardens were beautiful but a little anticlimactic.

Impressive accomplishment reclamation from the landslide but a bit overpriced for the product.

Glacier Gardens was so glad you took the time to visit our little part of Alaska. The owners have worked hard to introduce our guest to the southeast temperate rainforest, with a stream reclamation and live Bald Eagles nest. With the 2 mile guided tour through the rainforest to the boardwalk at the 600 ft. mark, show a spectacular veiw of Juneau from the top of a cliff. If you do ever make it back to Juneau we do hope to see you again at the Gardens

Beautiful gardens hidden in Juneau
Jun 2021
I highly recommend this tour. Walking in to the greenhouse, I was blown away by the gorgeous hanging baskets and the pleasant scent of flowers. I could easily imagine spending an afternoon there just reading and enjoying the warmth. We took the golf cart tour and our guide, Russel was incredibly knowledgable about all the plants we passed. He gave us a history of how these upside down tree gardens came to be and made the drive up the steep mountain enjoyable. The view at the top of the tour was incredible too. It's a bit out of the way, but I'm so glad we went. If you're on the fence about visiting Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure, definitely go!

Wonderful gardens tour
Sep 2019
This was a wonderful guided tour up the hill through the rainforest gardens. The work done to produce this place after a big landslide went through here many years ago is amazing. From the viewing platform at the top of the hill there are good views along the Juneau valley ( in both directions) Even saw a Bald Eagle soaring overhead

Well recommended

The upsidedown tree gardens were beautiful...
Sep 2019
Thourghly enjoyed this tour offered by Royal Caribbean...interesting history on how these gardens came to be, so listen closely as your guide expertly drives you up the side of a mountain to a awesome view of Juneau and a channel far below...you don't really realize how far up you travel but the view is worth it. Amazing what an emagination can create, these upsidedown tree gardens must be seen to truly be appreciated...

Beautiful gardens
Sep 2019
This is a bit tricky to find if you are not familiar without the the area but a local gave us great directions. We had rented a car to get away from the crowds of the cruise ship which was a great idea and drove around visiting the attractions.
These gardens were worth the visit and it was interesting to hear the history of the place. The view from the top of the gardens where they drove us to is amazing. There has been a huge amount of work go into these gardens. Enjoyed the visit!

Delightful surprise excursion in Juneau
Sep 2019 • Couples
Went to these gardens as part of a Princess excursion and was amazed at the beauty and imaginative creations ! The turnoff could be easily missed so if you’re driving, pay close attention. We were part of a 30ish group from the ship, so our driver knew exactly how to maneuver the small lane. Long story short , Steve the owner had rented an excavator after he bought the property. Not sure what he had originally planned but just say messing up the big man machine the day before he was to return it was bitterly disappointing. In his frustration , he picked up one of the felled trees and dumped it in the ground ! I think he must have done a few more that way before his anger at himself had subsided. But what happened much later, the tree tops were fed by the ground and the roots developed plants on the root balls ! They added flower seed ( again later ) and the results are stunning. It was thoroughly delightful and a bit nerve wracking as the open transportation maneuvered the single lane unpaved road straight up to a beautiful vista. Great experience. Fully recommend. Hope I got Steve’s story straight !

Beautiful gardens and Accommodating Staff
Sep 2019
This tour was part of a cruise excursion. Traveling with elder handicap person. Beware of the steep stone walk up to the beginning of the tour. IF you need help, bring it to their attention in the parking lot. Only after struggling up the hill did I seek further help. Katie came to our rescue and provided a wheelchair. Since the rest of our group was already gathered for the tram ride, Katie arranged for a smaller vehicle for our tour. Gino was our guide and we had an amazing ride to the top of the mountain with all sorts of information along the way. Katie then personally handled the wheelchair back to the parking lot to meet the bus. THANK YOU for your help!

Making the most of a mudslide
Sep 2019 • Family
We visited today as part of a port adventure offered by the Cruise Line. The story of restoration of this site after a devastating mud slide is compelling, and may be enough to warrant our support. A 5 minute cart ride took us 500 feet up above Juneau and afforded a beautiful view of the city and the mud flats below. We were escorted away much too quickly, in my opinion, to continue our journey through the rain forest. The trademark floral arrangement is a 8-12 foot tree stump turned upside down with a variety of plants growing in the upturned roots. Cute at first, it may be a bit overused. Most members of our bus tour were waiting at the bus to move on before the driver was ready to leave. That suggests that maybe more time at the mountain peak and less time in the gift shop would have been appreciated.
