Really nice acitivity
Sep 2019
In spite of the long drive in the rain to get there, this turned out to be a really nice tour (booked through a cruise!). The weather was pretty bad, but we were told that was normal, and they provided raincoats. It was a really nice (and easy enough) paddle on a secluded lake. We stopped for snacks and a short hike and paddled back. It felt very "alaskan" and the scenery was amazing!!! I would highly recommend it!

Beginners welcome!
Sep 2019
Short story: Nervous about canoeing but now I love it. Rose is an awesome guide.

Long story: Water activities make me nervous. So it was with trepidation I agreed to this tour with my friends. The canoes are large and sturdy in the water and I soon found myself enjoying paddling our way across the lake. We ducked into an inlet and took a close look at the indigenous flora. Rose was a wealth of knowledge in history, flora, fauna, and wildcraft.

Great for beginners
Sep 2019 • Friends
First off - Doran was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable, very enthusiastic, very well educated about the area and the history. He was a ton of fun and I could have listened to him spout facts for another five hours.
Secondly - this is a great adventure for beginners. The canoeing is easy, especially with a group and the hike is probably the easiest trail (if it can really be called that) I've ever been on.
The downside is, if you're an experienced hiker and you're thinking this is going to be a long hike (like I was) you'll be only slightly disappointed (because it's still really cool and you'll have a ton of fun). Thanks to the cook too! Hot chocolate was delicious :)
Oh!! And I almost forgot our driver! I apologize, I can't remember the gentleman's name (young blonde from Washington-you know who you are) was absolutely hilarious and entertaining for the 40 minute drive out and back into town. I'll remember the Dodge Dart forever now.

The Best tour ever!
Sep 2019 • Solo
My sister and I took the canoe tour from Alaska Travel Adventures. It was great, the weather was perfect. Our guide was Doran and was a whealth of knowledge about the canoes, lake, fauna and more. Jokes were pretty good too. The food that Jed served was delicious. Thank you for a memorable part of our vacation.

A very enjoyable excursion!
Aug 2019
After a couple of days at sea, this was a good way to stretch out. It was a beautiful day out on Lake Harriet Hunt and the guides were very well versed, very informative. The paddling was a breeze and the hike was a little too short but, all in all, a great time was had by all. The salmon snack near the end was delicious!

Great knowledgeable guide
We were very lucky to have Cole as our guide. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. It was fun to learn about the nature on the lake and on shore.

We made many stops to study the habitat. And while we paddled, he was very skilled at compensating for our lack of coordination.

It was a very pleasant tour that I would highly recommend.

Lame excursion
Aug 2019
Of all the excursions we did while on an Alaskan cruise, this was our least favorite. We paddled with people who didn't know how to coordinate strokes, with no instruction from our guide. Wildlife - we say a loon! The nature walk was interesting but overall we felt this experience was not worth $100/person.
