What to expect
Make your way to Newport Harbor for the departure of your whale watching cruise down the coast of Orange County.  Board the 65-foot (20-meter) boat and meet your experienced captain and crew, all of whom have extensive backgrounds in marine biology. As the boat leaves the harbor, learn about the different types of marine life that frequent the area and what to look for.  This year-round tour allows the opportunity to see different animals during different seasons. During the winter and spring months, watch for minke whales; one of the world's smallest, they only grow to about 23 feet (7 meters). Winter also brings the humpback whale, which can grow to an impressive 52 feet (16 meters). Both of these whales eat krill and are known to slap their tails on the surface of the water, or 'fluke'.  Blue whales, the largest mammals in existence today, usually grow to approximately 200 tons (180 metric tons) and 98 feet (30 meters) in length. Watch for these giants during the summer and fall months, in addition to grey whales and finback whales (the second-largest type of whale).  There are also possibilities to see dolphins, sea lions, and seals on your trip. Feel free to ask any questions of your knowledgeable captain and crew regarding any of the animal life you encounter. After your time on the Pacific, return to Newport Harbor.

Ok for a nice boat ride
Didn’t see any whales. We were a little disappointed on that. The boat ride was also short. We left at 2 and was back by 3:30. I paid one price and my sister got the same Trip for half of my price??? Saw a few dolphins.

They overbook their boats knowing that passengers won't be able to find parking and then refuse to issue you a refund.
Jun 2021
There is no parking. We went to their valet lot and it was full. We called them. They told us to go to the municipal lot. It was also full. We called again. They told us to try the neighborhood. We drove aroud for 45 minutes trying to find somewhere to park. We called again and were told that they couldn't hold the boat for us. If we wanted to reschedule, it would cost us 50% more. They could wait list us for the next boat. They said this happens a lot. and that there were 30 people already ahead of us on the wait list. So we asked again, where can we park? They said they couldn't help us and refused to give us a refund. The boat fits 27 people. And there were 30 people ahead of us on the wait list? It doesn't take a math genius to realize that these people are deliberately overbooking their boats knowing that the vast majority of people will not be able to find parking. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Great Fun! Saw lots of Dolphins!
Jun 2021
We originally booked a cruise on a Wednesday evening, but they were all cancelled that day due to high winds. They offered to transfer us to a new cruise, which we chose the following day! We were on the faster boat so it was actually a lot of fun! Our captain, Larry, and Kayla, were both great!! We didn't see any whales (and honestly, I didn't think we would as they seem to be pretty rare), but we did see 2 large pods of dolphins and the sea lions on our way back to the dock. All in all, it was truly a pleasant experience and we would definitely book another cruise in the future if we are in the area!

Disgusted
Starts off friendly, but goes on with discrimination, horrible customer service, and do not present policies as should for a hispanic family. The experience I went through I was 3 min late as so was another woman with her friends because of her ethnicity and appearance she went on board. They denied my on board and did not allow a single mother with kids on the ship because of the way I looked. This is pathetic and sad.

Although we didn’t spot a whale we saw a huge pod of Dolphins up close and some sea lions. The boat and experience were both excellent. Easy to book and would definitely do again.

Beautiful ride
Feb 2021 • Couples
Staff was very professional, the ride was very pleasant as well. Got a bit of nausea about 30 min into the boat ride, so just make sure you take nausea pills before the ride if you’re prone to sea sickness. Weather was very warm when we departed but gets windy and chilly once you’re out in ocean, make sure you take warm jacket or sweater. The view was beautiful and we got to see a momma whale with her baby. Highly recommend this ride.

Absolutely do again AND buy tickets in advance
Nov 21, 2020 Saturday

Trip with elderly mother. Didn't book online thinking we would be fine. Nope. Next 3 tours were sold out but got on waitlist and got lucky.

Clean. Masks required. Running at about 2/3 less capacity so distancing not ideal but no735kt uncomfortable.

Parked couple blocks up at Balboa Island public parking. 5 hours for $4.75.

Along the strip by the excursion are lots of shops and places to grab a bite. Even a couple of small kid things like a small ferriswheel. Also a quaint ferry for a quick run if killing time.

Actual trip.... knowledgeable. Sit close to one of the speakers. Recommend sitting along the side and layering clothes. November was perfect in bay with shorts but into open water sweatshirt and shawl appropriate. Sell some packaged snacks, popcorn, has a bar (jumbo well mixed mia tia $12 and bottle water $2) Restrooms on board. We got lucky with a huge pot of common dolphins, some bottle nosed, and some cali sea lions.
LOVED the trip!
