Really enjoyed this tour with Banana Joe’s from the moment I was picked up to the end of the airboat ride. Our driver Häagen was excellent; really friendly, funny and super informative about the Everglades, the nature and about the alligators on the drive there- so much so, that we learnt more on the drive than on the actual boat, or at the show. It was really good prep. He also got us there super early so we missed the crowds and were the first boat out on the water. He was extremely organised and helpful. The actual boat ride in the Everglades was quite magical. We saw an alligator and some big birds and iguanas. But really just boating through the grass and lily pads was beautiful and so relaxing. We had an hour on the water but I could have done twice as long tbh. When we returned, the place was jam packed with tourists and was a bit nuts. We were taken into an alligator show after the boat ride which I really didn’t want to see tbh. It was quite cringey and I certainly didn’t want to see macho performances of head in a crocodiles mouth. It’s not a circus and I cannot imagine is comfortable for the reptiles either! I would have liked to hear about the rescue programme more, the story of individual alligators rescue and anecdotes. I didn’t want a picture with a baby either. I honestly found this part extremely uncomfortable and whilst I know they need to make money, they should do it in a way that is more sympathetic to the animals. I would have paid the same price and entirely avoided this part, if I’d known what to expect, or preferred to stay another half hour on the water. I think they should provide options without this part and offer an alternative show that animal lovers will not be offended by. Also give people more time in the shop and restaurants and have some nice viewing stations by the river instead.

This was a great tour. Hagen ( hopefully correct spelling) was an excellent tour guide he drove us to the everglade and along the way he explained the natural animals and plants that lived in the everglade. (snakes and alligators he even has a snake skin and rattler to pass around) When we got to the everglade the everglade tour boat captain took over and he took us on a tour of the canal which was ~1.5 hours long or so. (everglades is very big) We saw alligators, vultures, and there were a lot of bass or some fish jumping eating the flies in the water or minnows swimming away. You will see big alligators and there is the alligator show afterwards with Paul Bedard ( he had an Animal Planet show previously ) which I recommend you see. They have a small conservation of animals which they keep to educate the public because all the animals have been deemed nuisance animals and per FL law would have to be euthanized if not keep in sanctuaries. After we took a picture with a baby alligator included with package. I kinda pushed the time tables back because I ordered some food and had to wait for it but luckly when I got to the van Hagen said it was fine and we had plenty of time. I would recommend this tour for an introduction to those people who have not been to the everglades such as myself. The everglades is very large and you cant see it all in one tour also there were people with their private boats fishing and locals fishing on the other pier. Hagen stated that this is where trappers go to catch evasive pythons at night too. Ludwig the contact for booking tour was also very helpful to myself because I booked last moment the night prior and he made it all work out so please plan accordingly beforehand unlike me. :-) The ride to the everglade for the tour is about 45min +/- traffic. I high recommend all who read this to go with Banana Joe. The best part from banana joe was the narration in German too. ( so I can brush up on my German) :-)

Hagen is a brilliant and fun tour guide. All is flawless and well planned which makes it very enjoyable. We got there early and were the first air boat out which makes a difference. Would highly recommend!
Only thing to note is the start times of the tour were quite unclear. Morning one is around 7.45 with return around 12.30 ; afternoon starts at around 13.30.

We booked through Banana Joe's. They do offer pickup at hotels, but because we were staying out of town, we opted to drive directly. This company is just a ticket agent, they don't actually operate any boats. They just drive you there and go get your bracelets for you. That's the exent of the service. Then, you just get into the line with everyone else and get on the 30-person boats like everyone else from every other group. We booked with them specifically for the 'small group' experience, which is a compelte fabrication. My advice.........just drive yourself to the park, and then buy tickets when you get there. It's the exact same experience. Another couple drove themselves there as well and we compared notes, they were disappointed as well. The guy from Banana Joe's just ran around and gave us no direction at all. We just decided to get our bracelets and go to the big line. There is no specific 'small group' boat.
As far as the boat tour, it's a waste of time. They take you out about 100 yards and then drive in circles on basically the same route as every other airboat. I guess the Everglades just isn't big enough to take separate routes. Apparently, this is also the one place in the Everglades with zero alligators. However, they did show us a fake concrete alligator at the end, which I guess fools the kids.
Cap Baby Face might be the most annoying guide I've ever had. I totally get the schtick, but he kept saying "look at me" over and over and then really didn't say anything. He was hard to ignore. Even the 'wild' birds that he feeds bread to everyday seemed annoyed. How about just stick to desribing the wildlife and plant life. He was knowledgeable about those things.
The facility is very nice, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 star. The bathrooms are clean, parking is good, the main building has a great shop for snacks, drinks.

We do have tours into the Everglades, you just decided to drive yourself, without the tour.....
Plus you actually, pay less with Banana Joe Tours compare to buy the tickets directly in the Everglades
So you even saved money by getting tickets with us.......
Yes, all you get is the tickets when you buy tickets. What else did you want to get?
This is the best budget tour in south Florida, that's a fact.
If you go to Miami for a group tour you get 20min. or 30min in areas of the Everglades where there is not even enough water sometimes.
We choose the best park near Miami and Fort Lauderdale for you guys and sell it cheaper to you than if you would go into the park by yourself! Why are you being so rude?
There are tons of Alligators in the park you just came to at a time when is cold in January and the Aligator stayed underwater.
There is no concrete alligator, what are you talking about?
Btw if you wanna spend more than $38 you actually get a very good airboat tour that is private with one of our own tour guides.
It's a question of how much money you can spend...... maybe your expectations are a little too high for your budget.
It is not very nice how you present yourself in this review, we think that people like you really destroy the spirit of traveling.

I chose this particular tour because it stressed small group without alligator show but longer airboat ride. This was not the tour experience I got. There were 30+ people on the boat narrated over a speaker that made the tour seem like a Disney ride. And then there was the show at the end. Only good thing was the bus driver was on time for hotel pick up

Hi Debra,
thank you for you review!
In the offer it clearly says that the airboat tour is 20 or more people, not 30+ as you state, that's impossible as the airboats hold max 25 people.
your guide narrates over a speaker, how else is he supposed to narrate your tour?
The Wildlife Show is also clearly advertised as well as the 60 minute 'longer' ride which you got and the show is voluntary, not mandatory!
You have booked the best tour in South Florida for the budget price you paid. An Uber from your hotel to the park would be, depending on time of day, anywhere from $70-90 each way. You have pick up, guide, boat ride, show and picture with the alligator and transport back included. Everything at a budget price.
So everything was exactly as advertised!
If you want to pay a little more money and have a private tour we also offer those. But not at the budget price that you paid!
Thank you!

Was probably expecting more. Not really that much to see but I suppose that’s the natural habitat. Would have been great if they fed the gators or something rather than just looking on from a distance of it basking in the sun in the grasses.
The Captain of the boat was ok but a little repetitive. Could have given a lot more info. The hour tour on the boat could have been 30 minutes and would have preferred to be dropped back to South Beach without having to drop other guests at Miami Cruise Terminal.
Our bilingual van driver was excellent and full of interesting info on the journey there and back…but the whole experience with travel was 5 hours rather than the stated 3 hours.

Pick-up at our hotel was very convenient, our driver Christen was very friendly and gave a lot of information on the way to/from the Everglades. Airboat tour was disappointing, because the guide took us to the known spots where the gators should be everyday, so it felt more like a visit to a zoo than exploring the Everglades and wildlife. Tour was not inside the national park, but in a small part of the surrounding area. The gator show was entertaining.

Hi, thx for your review.
You really got the best tour for the $$$ in all of south Florida.
There are only 3 parks in the national park and they are the biggest tourist traps down here, these parks are south of the Tamiami trail which is cutting off the water supply for the national park.
So these parks are not only full of all the people from Miami there also only do 30 min airboat rides instead of 60 min. airboat rides as we do.
These parks are often low on water and they are not really in the Everglades National Park. Nobody
can really go into the National Park to do an airboat tour. It's protected!!!
We offer this tour here as a budget tour and it has the best price in the low-budget category.
We have private tours in Indian reservations where you have a very wild and private experience but you also need to spend more money.
This kind of review is really bad for everyone because this kind of review is misleading people into believing can have a better tour for a budget price.
This here is the best airboat tour in this price segment, that why Banana Joe did partner up with Broward County and offer this wonderful tour,.

Our tour guide, Hagen, was great! He picked us up on time. When we went to South Beach to get more of the group, he explained some of the history of South Beach, pointing out buildings with Art Deco characteristics. On the way to Everglades Holiday Park, he described the history, geography, and animals of South Florida. At Everglades Holiday Park, we got to see an alligator show and rode an airboat for an hour. Our guide, Captain Baby Face, helped point out 2 alligators and a number of birds in the area. This tour was a fun way to see part of Florida.

Web site showed fan boat with maybe 8 passengers and the advertised boat had no roof or front windshield. The actual boat seated 4-5 people per row and there were about 6 rows. Views were very limited, especially if you didn't have an end seat.
Alligator Guys show was just OK.
Transportation to and from park was good and we were picked up at our hotel.
Hagen made the trip very informative and entertaining.

If you check out Banana Joe Tours website you'll see that you got exactly what you paid for!
It specifically says 'roofed airboat that fits 20-25 people'!
We do have private tours with smaller boats, those are obviously more expensive but can be booked without any problems! That's why this is a budget tour. You're picked up, receive a narrated tour of Miami and the Everglades, photo with Gator, wildlife show and you'll be dropped back off at your hotel. All this for a $30 extra charge per person as your tour price includes admission and the 1 hour airboat ride!
Everyone reading this: please READ our website carefully and correctly and just shoot us an e-mail if you're unsure about anything! We'll gladly assist!

The tour guide was very informative and kind, it made the whole trip a real pleasure. She gave some information about the areas we cruised through whilst picking up fellow day trippers and then we were off to the Everglades. The alligator show and mini zoo visit was fun and informative and we got a free photo holding a baby alligator. The airboat trip was fun and even though the water was choppy that day we did get to see a small alligator on a bank. Food and drinks at the Everglades station were reasonable. I got out on the return to Miami whilst most stayed on for the proper city tour.

We were picked up at 8am from our downtown hotel, this obviously depends where you are staying but you get a message the day before with a time. I think we got back to Miami about 2 or 2.30. We left just about the time all the big tour buses were arriving.
