The new American Indian exhibit, planned with local scholars and native people, is terrific but may not hold the attention of young children for long. Right behind it are a native dwelling and traditional exhibits. The Field Museum is a classic and worth many visits.

My husband and I spent two hours perusing the museum. You will need at least 4 hours and could spend an entire day and not see everything. If you enter as a CityPass holder you are given access to four additional exhibits. Depending on when you visit you may want to visit these first. The Egyptian line was longer than the others. I was most interested in seeing Sue and was surprised by the special Jane Goodall exhibit which I enjoyed the most. If you go with small children, I highly encourage you to look at a map before tackling the entire museum and plan which exhibits will be most important to see. With several floors there is a lot of real estate to cover. Definitely worth a visit in my opinion. In May 2021 Covid precautions are in full effect. Limited capacity. Masks required. Sanitation centers etc.

We did not try to see everything, which kept the group from burning out. We saw the gems, dinosaur/evolution exhibit, the Pacific Islander collection, and the native American collection. The Pacific Islander collection was great and its strength is unique to the Field. The Native American collection was interesting given the Field's proximity to midwestern archaeological sites. It was not very crowded - we were the only ones in the big room with the Maori meeting house. The scientific narrative of mass extinctions through time was well told.

The exhibits were all great, plenty of information. My favorites were Inside Ancient Egypt and Sue the T-Rex. I am officially a big fan of Sue, like so many others, and really loved learning all we know about her.
Why I gave this three stars was due to my staff experiences. Upon checking in the lady who issued our tickets had a bad attitude about my needing her to speak up. The facility is loud and she used a small voice that made it extremely difficult to hear. I told her we needed two tickets and she ended up charging me for two adults instead of one child and one adult. I did not know the prices going in and I took her word on the price. It makes the world of difference when customer service tries just a little harder than the effort she gave.

The Field museum is terribly outdated and in need of renovation. We were very disappointed. The exterior of the building is magnificent which makes the outdated exhibits even more painful. The interesting exhibits all required a ticket upgrade.

Thank you for visiting the Museum, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us feedback. We do have a magnificent building. We have been in our lakefront home for 100 years and we are excited that we constantly are evolving our space with new experiences. Some of our latest additions are a new suite for SUE the T. rex added in 2019 and a remodeled Stanley Field Hall with Máximo the Titanosaur and the hanging gardens in 2018. Some other recent updates include Science Hub, Crown Family PlayLab, Hall of Conservation, Regenstein Halls of the Pacific, Ancient Americas and Evolving Planet. A general admission ticket offers entry to over 35 permanent halls at the museum. One of the popular spaces, Native North America is currently undergoing a full renovation that will also be a part of the general admission experience. We will always maintain some of the classic favorites like the hall of mammals. The traveling exhibitions we feature several times a year and our new Cyrus Tang Hall of China can be added to your ticket for an additional cost. We hope on your next visit you are able to check out some of these other spaces. Thanks for your time, have a great day.

This is a completely awesome museum, included in your city pass along with a 3d show. We took uber from our hotel and did both the aquarium and museum on the samrme day. The museum needs at least 3 hours minimum. There is a line to get in even with the city pass to pick your show. We did dinosaurs in Antarctica. Scan a map start from the 3rd floor and enjoy tibetan collection, china jade, beautiful gemstones, dinosaurs and much more. The Pacific exhibit was nicely done. We loved the Sue trex exhibit. The second floor has jurassic of the oceans, african and american exhibits. We enjoyed the art work of the Americas. There are restrooms everywhere and food onsite. The views outside the museum are lovely.

We came here and went through the history of the plant exhibit. It was really interesting and we loved learning about Sue the T-Rex. The exhibit also talked about the formation of the planet, each of the extinction periods and has a lot of great information. The museum has a variety of exhibits and is located in an area with several other museums, making it easy to visit a couple on the same day. I would recommend visiting if you are in Chicago.

Exceptional museum with lots of great exhibits. Start on the top floor and work your way down, they have mummies, dinosaurs, really good exhibits about animals and the Polynesian islands, and a whole host of other things. You could easily spend 3-5 hours here if you wanted to see everything.

The entire museum is massive. Each exhibit by themselves is quite large, we even had a hard time trying to get out of the animal exhibits. We got the City Pass and it allows entrance to the special exhibits, which are all definitely worth walking through. The must visit of course is Sue the T-Rex on the upper level. On the bottom floor, there are only vending machine food.

We were very impressed with the world class Field Museum. It’s spacious, well lit and well maintained. Everyone was wearing masks, attendance was light, and we felt safe and unhurried. The exhibits are beautifully designed with good signage and layouts. We couldn’t help comparing it to the Natural History Museum in NYC which has gotten shabby and is much in need of updates and basic maintenance. We really enjoyed the Africa exhibits, the Egypt exhibit and the dinosaurs. We spent at least 3 hours and only managed to see a fraction, so we’ll definitely come back whenever we’re back in Chicago.
