Original Carbon Neutral Whale Watching Tour from Húsavík

    What to Expect
Make your own way to Húsavík harbor to board your ship – a carbon neutral boat that uses a unique hybrid propulsion system and runs on renewable energy instead of fossil fuel. Set out to sail around Skjálfandi bay, admiring the wild scenery of Iceland’s north coast, and looking out for dolphins and sea birds along the coast.

As you approach the whales, listen as your guide tells you more about the magnificent creatures, and explains how the low-noise, low-energy ship is designed to cause minimal interference with their natural environment. If you’re lucky, spot minke, humpback, and orca whales, or even rarer breeds such as sperm whales, pilot whales, or mighty blue whales.

On the way back to shore, warm up with a hot chocolate and some delicious cinnamon buns.

I guess we could not have had much more luck. Great weather, sunny, warm and a calm sea. We saw at least five different whales. The puffins were out fishing thousands of them. I guess these things will vary a lot between trips. What will...More

The day we went to see whales, the carbon neutral boat was out of service. It was early September, so I imagine being late season, maintenance windows will happen. Regardless, we had a wonderful experience on a very nice vessel. The crew was fantastic, it...More

Dear Cmr013, thank you for being understanding that the maintenance of our boats has to be prioritized due to safety reasons. Fortunately, we have a fine collection of tradition oak boats that enables us to provide equally unique experiences for our guests. We are therefore...More

I'll come out with it first: this was the worst experience of our Iceland vacation. The whale watching tour starts with changing into jump suits - which may or may not be dry - stored in a small shipping container. This is a good thing:...More

Dear Exit 52, I am really sorry that you had a bad experience on one of our tours. Of course the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific are very different, and unfortunately, in Iceland, rough seas are more common than we would like. When the state...More

So we visited this place two years ago and this time our experience wasn't as pleasant as last time (check my review). It wasn't really North Sailing's fault, more like all tour operators', but let me explain: The staff is very friendly and the place...More
