About
Love whiskey? Walking? Pittsburgh? This sounds like the tour for you! From the mill to the still, whiskey has been a cornerstone in Pittsburgh's history. Join this tour and discover how whiskey has fueled political, labor and social movements throughout the region. We start the tour with a sample of the longest continuously produced whiskey in America (or a hot toddy for the colder days). As we walk the streets of Downtown, you'll learn about the violent Whiskey Rebellion, hidden former (as well as existing!) speakeasies around the city, how Prohibition affected the region, the revival of craft spirits, and Wigle’s own history as local, family-owned business. Get 3 additional samples of whiskey from Wigle at the end of the tour. - Please note: This is NOT a bar crawl but a whiskey history tour with a final tasting. On SATURDAYS the tour ends at Wigle, on SUNDAYS at our shop with free sample refills :-) Adults 21+ only; children + dogs are welcome to join; approx. 1 mile of walking

Worth it! Great to learn the history in such an interesting way
It’s a wonderful walk featuring Aaron’s interesting stories about Pitts history about whisky and all the beautiful buildings in downtown. The weather was a little chill, but Aaron was very thoughtful, he prepared some hand warmers for us and some hot cider & tea with whisky. It’s definitely worth it and we learned a lot as first-time visitors to Pitts. He also recommended some good original Pitts restaurants. We tried Square cafe and Primanti Bros, and they were so gooood!

Aaron was fantastic. We learned some Pittsburgh history and saw some cool buildings, and he did a great job of tying that into events in history to hiw that relates to whIsley, both past and present. You get some neat samples at the end, which is a bonus, but this is really a history tour and how it relates to whiskey

Whiskey and History Walking Tour
Sep 2021 • Friends
Aaron was our affable, generous, and informative tour guide. While the tour wasn’t what we initially thought it was going to be (thanks to COVID) it was actually much more and a highlight of our trip to Pittsburgh. Aaron did a great job modifying the tour given the COVID restrictions. We learned a lot of historical relevance to the importance of whiskey to Pittsburgh history economically, their labor unions, and prohibition. Generous pours were offered of three whiskeys and a coffee liquer.

Great time on the Whiskey tour!
Apr 2021
Corrie was a great tour guide - especially with 5 people on the tour who don't drink whiskey. She was very knowledgeable and kept it entertaining. We enjoyed hearing about the history of whiskey in Pittsburgh and about all the famous Pittsburgh townspeople (and the jagoffs)! Two thumbs up. The hot toddy to start the tour was delightful and I really enjoyed the coffee whiskey at the end and I'm not a coffee drinker.
She pointed out several historic buildings built by Carnegie, Frick and others. We also learned the right way to pronounce 'Carnegie!'
I can't wait to come back to Pittsburgh and take another tour with my family.
Thanks for an enjoyable chilly afternoon in Pittsburgh! Only bummer was that the William Penn Hotel's speakeasy isn't open.
