What to expect
  • Your tour begins in the middle of Moab where you’ll meet you professional guide, who will help you get comfortably situated inside of the off-road, 4WD vehicle. Enjoy the 30-mile (48km) drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, where you’ll explore the popular Island in the Sky District with its spectacular desert scenery. Start off atop a mesa with views looking out over the horizon before your guide deftly maneuvers the switchbacks of Shafer Trail. On this section of the 100-mile (161-km) White Rim Road Loop, you’ll make stops at spectacular Gooseneck Overlook and famous Musselman Arch, and photograph vistas of the Colorado River and the view from Thelma and Louise Point. In addition to the popular lookouts, your expert guide will take you to spots that aren’t as frequently visited, where you’ll find everything from ancient Pueblo rock art to vertical views down the canyons. You’ll learn the history of the Pueblo people who inhabited the Four Corners area, and aside from the culture and history lessons, your guide will also explain the geology of the red rock canyons before you. When you stop for a break to take photos, venture out on one of the short trails that leave from many of the viewpoints; you’ll get a different perspective and angle for photographing the canyons. When this Canyonlands tour from Moab is over, your guide will return you to the middle of Moab to the spot where the tour began.

What a great experience, one we will remember for a long time. John S., our guide was wonderful. The back road adventure is not to be missed!

Super adventure.
Oct 2021
The entire trip was amazing. Such a treat to take my 16 year-old granddaughter on a
great adventure for her fall break. Our guide knew so much about the geology of the landscape as well as the history of movie making in the park that it made trip that much more exciting.

Amazing
Oct 2021
We had a great time. Our guide, Trailer, took us on a fabulous trek across the valley and up the side of the canyon on a narrow, switchback road. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Park and its geological history. We saw much more than would have been possible from the surface roads.

Worth the money, great, fun, interesting tour.
Our tour guide Ric Otero took us on an all day tour of the Arches and Canyonlands. He is friendly, outgoing and willing to make our experience personalized. He knew all the back roads and interesting sites to check out. He took us off reading, which was a blast. A very capable driver. He knew the facts of the area and interesting tidbits. I would do the tour again in a heartbeat. I’d book with Ric Otero

Go! Book with NAVTEC and ask for Chance
Oct 2021
The easy part is to point out how amazing our guide Chance was. His friendly and honest demeanor, his knowledge of local geology and legends, and his driving skills were outstanding. And his driving skills were really needed as we went back roads on a misty/rainy day with 1,000 foot drops right next to us.

the tour was complete, intense, and filled with sights we would never have seen on our own. The only downside was the aging condition of the vehicle we were in. Time to update that one.

Island in the Sky
We had an awesome experience. Our guide and driver was Chance. His knowledge of the geology, geography and history of the area was insightful. But it was only surpassed by his ability to navigate the switchbacks up the mountain. Although driving on the edges of the narrow roadway left me with ‘white knuckles’, I was reassured by his steadfast handling of the 4x4. A thoroughly memorable experience!

Traveling in Canyonlands
Oct 2021
If you want a genuine unique experience go with NAVTEC. We had an incredible experience and were able to to so and see things that we would never have managed on our own. Our guide, Rick, was personable and knowledgeable and then a great job of creating a once in a life time experience for us.

Unbelievable Canyonlands tour from top to bottom
Oct 2021
Ric Otero, our guide from Navtec, was incredible. He knew the Canyonlands National Park, kept up a constant stream of information about the Canyonlands, all while driving on roads with no shoulder and 1000 foot drop or serious 4-wheel drive roads. If there was an awesome view, Ric would regularly offer to take photos with one or more of the tour participants in the foreground. Ric would frequently stop as planned, or requested, for photos of specific views. My wife and I highly recommend Ric as a tour guide of Canyonlands NP. .
