Interesting tour covering lots of ground relevant to 9-11 including old and new architecture, monuments, churches, stories about the first responders, personal accounts of loved ones lost. It was a very cold day but we wore lots of layers and the walking kept us warm as did some time spent indoors touring the Oculus. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. My 15 year old son was very engaged by the guide, the memorial tour and the 9-11 Museum, which we visited directly afterwards. He said it was the highlight of the NYC trip. We took the 12.30 pm memorial tour which finished around 2 pm. We had booked 3 pm tickets for the 9-11 Museum however the security line to enter was very long so our time in the Museum was cut short (less than 2 hours, as it closes at 5 pm). My son was disappointed that we didn't get to finish looking at the interactive exhibition (which was sombre but touching). If you are visiting NYC during peak tourist times, suggest booking this memorial tour in the morning to allow at least 2 hours for the Museum. Also, eat before hand as we found it difficult to find a decent quick meal nearby. Finally, allow plenty of time for travel, it took longer than expected to navigate traffic into the area.

Our guide, Jim, made his tour of Ground Zero informative and entertaining. He has personal memories of the 9/11 attack and a deep knowledge of New York City. He was able to answer questions off the cuff. He gave just the right amount of information and time to absorb it. He kept us engaged and entertained from the first minute to the last.
I highly recommend City Tales Sightseeing to anyone who wants to get a pretty complete understanding of the history of the site.

Jim! Many thanks to GetYourGuide for hitting every mark on an experience like no other. If you want facts, figures, and historical context delivered by New York's #1 Guide service, book this tour. Yes, our tour guide was that good. Our experience was on-time to the minute (military precision without the drill sergeant) delivered by a personal, passionate, caring group leader. This most valuable use of time connects sights with engaging stories to better understand all that is around is in and near the 9/11 Memorial. Thank you GetYourGuide for easing the process to book and enjoy an epic New York experience; you did not disappoint. Jim - our family is grateful for your good nature, humility, and attempts at humor (wait, you really are funny). Simply stated, you're the best! Many sincere thanks, Jersey travelers with family first-timers in tow.

While our guide was knowledgeable, it was very difficult to hear him. Need headsets. And he had a notebook full of photos, that were difficult to view as he panned the group . It was an outdoor tour, and some in our group were not dressed warm enough ( it was a 50 degree day) so the tour guide followed their lead, and most of tour was indoors. We spent most of our time inside at Brookfield Place and the Oculus, and the guide pointed out the highlights from a window. Not my favorite tour.

Jim was a GREAT guide! He shared such wonderful perspectives, as well as personal experience about this terrible tragedy. The tour and Jim’s commentary also reinforced the resilience and resolve of New Yorkers to rebuild and create a moving memorial site to honor the victims.
Jim also provided some very interesting history of New York’s founding, along with humor at the appropriate times.
I would definitely recommend this tour!
My only suggestion is that you bring cash to tip. Jim doesn’t do Venmo and I didn’t have any cash to provide him a tip to thank him with a liitle financial gratitude.

My 14 year-old daughter and I took a tour with Debbie Mason, and she was absolutely phenomenal. Such incredible knowledge about the history of NYC, especially the events of 9/11. And she was extremely generous with sharing personal, and painful stories about the 9/11 tragedy. This, combined with her sense of humor, made for a really valuable, memorable, and informative tour. My daughter and I both learned so much in the two short hours, and could have followed Debbie around the city all day with her knowledge, heart, and humor.

This was a tour given by Marc Landrum. He had us feel like we were all New Yorkers who had lived through that awful day. The impact on the rescue workers, especially the fire department personnel, was devastating. He really made us feel as though we were walking on sacred ground when we were viewing the memorial reflecting pool and the trees. He also told us of the resilience of New Yorkers and the tribute that they created for those that perished. Great tour!

Jim was a great tour guide. Lots of interesting information to share, patience with the group, careful to keep us safe, thoughtful enough to take pictures of each party at various sights, and plenty of corny jokes.
We had several international folks on our tour and I especially appreciated Jim's efforts to make sure they understood the information he was seeking to share.
My feet and back were ready for a rest, but I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

the walking tour leaves at 12 noon. You get to the 9/11 museum around 2-2:30. You are then allowed to stay as long as you want (until it closes). If you do not do the walking tour, I advise getting tickets in advance to the museum to avoid the long lines

Hi. I am interested in going to the 9/11 museum and doing your tour. The difference incost between the tour and the admission is more than the charge for museum entry. Please clarify

The tour is a minimum of 2 hours walking around the external area from the two pools to the two churches near the memorial. It gives you a different perspective. The guide then buys the tickets for entry into the museum. From that point you are on your own and can spend as much time as needed in the museum. That is why the difference in cost.

Hi, I'm flying into LGA arriving at 10:15 a.m on the morning I plan to take the tour, drop my bag off at hotel in Times Square then proceed to tour location. Would the noon tour be too early, or should I plan for 2pm? Not sure how much time to allow for taxi from airport to hotel etc. Thanks!

We flew into JFK and the traffic to our hotel in Times Square was very heavy, don’t know about La Guardia but I would certainly go for the 2 pm tour. If you do get there early you could always walk around the area to get a ‘feel’ for the location.

I think the latest tour is around 2pm. Ride from airport to memorial can be long.
