It is important to remember that this museum — the 9/11 TRIBUTE Museum is NOT the 9/11 Museum adjacent to the 9/11

A must do tour. First hand experiences given by both the tour guide and survivors working within the museum. In my opinion this is much more unique than the “official” museum and would definitely recommend anyone visiting to book it.

Very moving and touching experience. Our tour guide Dan was amazing and was very moving to hear his side of the story which was extremely personal and told us many things we hadn’t known about the day and events after. Mary was also a great tour guide and made you realise the impact it has and still had on the city and it’s people. Would highly recommend this tour and museum - a lot more personal than the larger museum. Hopefully they will be able to find a way to stay open for business as would be such a shame for this to close down due ti lack of funds :(

Our family of four visited the museum and participated in the walking tour. We did many things while in New York City, but this is the one that we talk about the most. The museum is well-thought out. The thing that makes it stand out is the very personal nature of it. Listening to survivors or family members tell their stories is something that I believe everyone should do. For those that weren't around for 9/11, this really helps humanize the tragic day. I took the tour 13 years ago, before the memorials were completed. Then we did it again this past Saturday. Both tours were very different because they are based on the tour guide's connection to the day. They were both absolutely outstanding. I would highly suggest people visit the Tribute Museum and take the walking tour before seeing the larger 9/11 Memorial and Museum. It will make that experience much more personal for you. The Tribute Museum is struggling to survive after the pandemic. Please visit to help enable that they can continue to tell their stories. You can also make purchases or donate on their website. This experience is too important to let go away.

A must see. For a nation that is often seen as bold and brash, this is understated, moving and classy. We pre-booked a tour online on the official website and it was very much worth it as we missed the queues to purchase a ticket. The tour was also wonderfully insightful and sensitive. We were in the museum for just over 3 hours and that allowed for a full experience. Excellent.

We visited NYC for the first time recently and 911 was obviously on our places to visit list. We happened to walk past the tribute museum and we are SO glad we did. We had a walking tour with Chris, a survivor. His story and knowledge was incredible. We were so saddened to hear the museum needs the financial backing to stay open, they have such an important story to tell. This is an absolute must. Chris your story will be passed onto our children and you will remain forever in our hearts.

We actually ended up at the Tribute Museum by accident, thinking that we had purchased tickets to the World Trade Centre museum itself. The tribute museum is about a three block walk along Greenwich Avenue and was started in 2008 by families and friends of those who lost their lives as well as survivors.

We were unsure about taking the tour, but it was excellent. Our tour guide, Peter, was on the 70th Floor when the planes hit and he and another man, helped to take their handicapped friend all the way to the bottom. Peter was soft spoken, sincere and truly made the experience come alive for everyone.

It took just over ninety minutes, we walked from the Museum to the site and Peter shared many stories with us. The “Survivor Tree”, the amazing water installation, the sanctity of the whole site and many other details. I highly recommend this tour as an excellent alternative to the National Parks tour located on the actual location. Tickets are $100.00 and well worth it.

This was the second time we did this - this time, we had a tower survivor as our guide.
It is a very informative tour, but with real emotion, most of our group were reduced to tears when our guide told her personal story in the memorial gardens.
This should definitely be on every visitors itinerary, the sacrifice & personal tragedies should never be forgotten - the museum is run by survivors & family members of those who were lost and has a really personal feel - if you are visiting New York please support them.

This was an informative and emotive experience. Dan was our volunteer tour guide who gave his time to inform us of the enormity of this devastating event. He told us about his part in 9/11 and allowed any questions we had, we will remember this tour forever. We knew this was going to be different from any other experience that we have had but did not want to leave New York without visiting the museum and memorial to pay our respects and are so glad we did. Thank you Dan for giving your time so generously.

Wow! Hearing a first person account really made everything seem so much more real. Our guide was Peter and he was superb. The museum is moving enough with all the artifacts from the tower and I can’t recommend the guided portion of the tour enough. When you are New York this is a must do.

My daughter and niece (both 13 years old) and I had such an amazing experience on the tour of the 9/11 memorial. Our tour guide shared his personal experience from that day. It was really meaningful for all of us to hear about 9/11 from the perspective of someone who was there that day and is committed to the 9/11 community of those most directly impacted by this tragedy. I highly recommend doing one of these tours and supporting this museum.
