This town, deep in the Louisiana wetlands, is a great place to begin to understand Cajun culture. Before you head out on your airboat, your guide takes you to an albino alligator exhibit. You also have an opportunity to pick up some food or something to drink (own expense). Board your airboat and take to the water through a bayou. Your guide stops along the way to show you native wildlife such as alligators and nutria. Hear stories about the area’s history and culture, as well as some swamp folklore. Your tour ends with a car ride back to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Please note before booking that children must be five years old or above to take this tour.

Stop: 2 hours - Admission included
Travel by air-conditioned coach from central New Orleans to the nearby fishing village of Jean Lafitte, named after an 18th-century smuggler. Home to a variety of diverse cultures, this area surrounded by Lousiana bayous has been the site of extensive logging operations, sugar and rice plantations and animal trapping enterprises over the years. Today, the people's simple way of life is a marked contrast to the hustle-bustle of New Orleans. In Jean Lafitte, you can get some snacks (own expense) and check out an albino alligator exhibit before boarding your airboat, a vessel that relies on an aircraft-type propeller mounted on its back to move it forward. Feel the wind in your hair as your move swiftly over the wetlands. Your native boat captain will talk about the history and culture of the area and point out wildlife as you travel. See lots of alligators lurking in the marshes, as well as local birds, raccoons and nutria -- giant river rodents that call the bayous home. Conclude your 4-hour family-friendly escape to the Louisiana wetlands with coach transport back to central New Orleans.

Buy your own water
Loved our tour and our guide lived on the Bayou his whole life, hunting and whatnot, so he knew so much information and answered every question someone had! But if you add on the shuttle, make sure you bring your own water. We bought some before there, but finished it all on the boat. When we bought some after, our shuttle driver yelled at us saying it was unacceptable even though we were hot as heck. Thanks D, just wanted to stay hydrated and support your business but I’ll know better next time to not spend money there !

T Earl is a crazy guy!
We had a ball with T Earl and learned a lot about the swamp. We saw lots of Gators and beautiful wild life. The love for this land was evident in how our tour guide explained it. Would highly recommend it!

First trip to New Orleans
It was a good trip. There were quit a few gators and the guide got them to come up to the boat by dangling small children over the edge of the boat!!!! Lol. Nah, He used marshmallows. They bus and the boat drivers were very knowledgeable in the area and they chosen vocations.

Loved!!!
Feb 2021 • Couples
Our experience was great! The only reason for not giving 5 stars was that our bus to the Boat tide was late. As a result, we didn’t have any time for looking at things in the gift shop! Our boat ride was great! Our captain, John, was VERY Informative and engaging with us! He tried very hard for us to see an alligator since it is off season! He did get one for us to see! Would definitely recommend this trip!!!!

This whole experience was wonderful great day to be outdoors and on the water. If you travel to New Orleans please don’t forget to take a smart door Randy our tour guide was the absolute best personal and professional felt very safe in his hands I think he was born in that water😂 The bus will pick it right up in the French Quarter or at selective hotels enjoyable ride down to the Bayou they’re very accommodating they let you take all the pictures you want ask all the questions you want one of the best things I’ve done in New Orleans and I’ve been coming over here for years.

Great Ride, Cool Place, Turtle Power!
We had a great time. First the bus ride to the Airboat was nice and relaxed with Alton giving good info. Then at the Airboat Captain Larry have a lot of cool history of the area. And where can you see 3 turtles chasing 2 gators. Pretty cool to see the creatures up close.
