Explore Louisiana’s beautiful and mysterious bayous on this covered boat tour departing from New Orleans. You’ll visit secluded Mississippi River swamps—keep an eye out for alligators and other wildlife—with a guide who’s familiar with the area and its Cajun culture. Included round-trip transportation from the French Quarter saves you time and money.
What to Expect

Your tour starts with pickup in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Relax on the bus ride out to the bayous, leaving the navigation and driving to someone else.

Once you reach the area, board a covered boat with your guide, and take to the swampy waters. Listen as your guide informs you about the area’s history and ecology, and get the opportunity to spot alligators and other wildlife native to the bayous.

Learn about the local culture, such as the origin of gumbo, and how the area’s residents work hard to guarantee the survival of the wetlands. Snap pictures of the swamps to take home, and gain a better understanding of this beautiful, often-misunderstood area.

Your tour ends with a drive back to the French Quarter.

Bayou & Swamp

Contrary to the title it wasn’t a boat ride from NOLA but a lovely, well air conditioned, comfy bus! The drive out was great! The tour guide (driver) ALTON was very well spoken and very knowledgeable about the area and the history. He gave great...More

I got to hold a baby alligator!!!

Guys, you have to do this tour! Watching wild alligator jump up a few feet above the water to eat marshmallows was such a rush. The highlight of course remains the baby alligator that I held in my hand.

Hello, When we were there the first week of August, they had two sizes of boats. One size was more like a pontoon and I can't say as to the capacity. Some of the boats were much larger than others. We paid an additional... More

Not sure either!! Best bet to call directly. However, Capt.Allen knows all of these gators like his own children. I don’t know if you can request him but they way he hand feeds them, they are sure to come up out of the... More

The swamp tour alone is a few hours. When you take it combined with the plantation tour, it is 7 hours.
