This tour provided us with so much eye-opening history of the Treme neighborhood and the influence it had on the music and culture of New Orleans. Our tour guide, Erin, was extremely knowledgeable and gave us fascinating insight while keeping the tour entertaining and fun. She told us about jazz cornet player Buddy Bolden, who I was unfamiliar with and now want to research. While walking through Louis Armstrong Park, she showed us photos of the streets and houses that were demolished to create the park. My favorite part was when she explained the meaning of certain song lyrics in relation to locations and traditions of Treme. Although I knew those songs (“Iko Iko” and “Mardi Gras in New Orleans”), I hadn’t understood these references, so now I’ll think of this tour whenever I hear them!

Erin was an amazing tour guide! Her wealth of knowledge and her passion for the Treme area of New Orleans is beyond impressive. She speaks clearly, and loudly enough for all to hear. Her way of sharing information pulls you in and her passion for the area is infectious. I wish she could guide all of the tours we took.

Wow, this tour was a trip highlight. I loved that it was a small group. Andrea shared so much information about the neighborhood and the musical influence and I gained a whole new appreciation for jazz music.

And I especially appreciated that Andrea talked loud enough so that I could clearly hear her over all the street noise.

Took the Treme walking tour with Malika. She is fabulous!! She is an outstanding tour guide who gave us a deeper understanding of the complicated history of the neighborhood and the city as a whole. As we came across other tour groups, she respected their space and, due to her contacts, we were able to join in a brief blessing ceremony, which gave us an even richer experience. She had a great playlist that accompanied the tour, and it is available through the tour company. Malika sparked my interest in learning even more about the history of Treme, New Orleans, religious practices, music - the multitude of topics she covered - which is definitely a sign of a great tour!

This tour was like a appetizer buffet, you get a little bit of everything: music, history, culture, both of the city as well as the neighborhood. You also get to hear (very rare in tours) about the current, every day life of the community. The portions are just right, interesting but not overwhelming. And if you want to learn more Andrea pointed you to where you can get it.

What a great tour with Miss Malika! Having very little knowledge about the Treme neighbourhood and thinking I knew something about the cultural dynamics of New Orleans we were pleasantly educated by our charming guide. Delivering a lot of information and honesty about the past, present and possible future of an important area in New Orleans. Great stop at the Petit Jazz Museum too.
Cannot recommend this enough, thank you Miss Malika master story teller.

Our tour guide, Angela, was passionate and animated about her subject matter. She treated us to and insightful two-hour tour that went by in the blink of an eye! Highly recommended to anyone who wants to know more than just the history of the French Quarter. Our visit to Mr. Al was great, too. Highly recommended.

Phil is an amazing tour guide. Born and bred in NOLA, he had wonderful insight to everything behind the scenes. The perfect mix of culture, music and history. He touched on all different aspects of NOLA from architecture to civil rights. My son and I learned a great deal. Thank you Phil!

Our tour guide, Evian was fantastic! We scheduled the tour of Treme for our last day in New Orleans, and I'm so glad we saved the best for last. What I love about all the tour guides from French Quarter Phantoms is that they explain their background and education from the beginning, so we understand they're the tour guide and they know their material. Evian's background was in Ancient History, where he was quite honest of his studies of slavery throughout history, which I thought was important to address and explain that this was his expertise and we were all getting a brief education on some of our country's darkest times. The facts and histories Evian provided to our group will certainly stay with me for the rest of my life, and I'm so glad we were able book this tour.

Treme is a beautiful neighborhood, and we walked briefly through Louis Armstrong Park, took a break midway through the tour at a local coffee shop, and ended at a great little jazz museum which was very enlightening with lots of memorabilia from the early jazz era with Mr. Al! I'd certainly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a deeper history beyond the Quarter.
