This tour was amazing! Our bus driver, Laura, was very funny and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our trip with her! Definitely request her as your driver! Once we got to the Laura plantation, we were able to take a guided tour and hear a lot of great stories and see the entire house (and it had a/c which was nice!). The Laura plantation had a lot of great creole history. Next we loaded up and went to the Oak Alley plantation, which was a self guided tour with the exception of the inside of the house tour. It was stunning and if you get the female tour guide, she gives you so much amazing information about the inner workings and social aspects of the home. I could’ve listened to her all day! We ate a delicious lunch at the Oak Alley restaurant (so good!) and loaded back on the bus. I give it five stars and two thumbs up. Well worth every penny. The tour takes up a full day- we loaded the bus at 9 am and returned around 5.

We were able to choose the pick up location closest to where we were staying which was nice. The van was on time, clean and comfortable. Pam was our driver and gave us bits of information along the way without overloading us with info. She also told us what to expect at each location and where we would find her when our tours were done. Although both Laura and Oak Alley were both sugar cane plantations with slaves that's where the similarity ends. Very different properties and very different tours so I'm glad we did both. We really enjoyed the Laura tour and had a great guide, Logan. He is very knowledgeable about the property and history and was able to answer many questions that weren't part of the regular narration. We even got to meet the resident plantation cat, Lola! The slave museum is worth a look if you have time before your tour starts. The Oak Alley tour is not nearly as in depth or informative (it's also a much shorter tour) but the property is stunning and the house is more in line of what I think of when I hear "plantation ". Both locations had nice gift shops and clean restrooms. I would strongly recommend doing this combo tour as the experiences were so very different from each other. The drive to the plantations took about an hour and takes you through a swamp and active sugar cane fields. We did tip the guide at Laura but not at Oak Alley. It's not required or asked for, just a way to show if you appreciated the tour. We also tipped our driver but again it was not required or asked for. Cajun Encounters was easy to book through and the communication was excellent. The van that picked us up was unmarked and we didn't realize it was ours but Pam reached out to us to let us know it was the right one so make sure you use your cell number when booking. Thank you Pam, for getting us there and back safely!

The tour of the “big” house was mediocre. The historical details given by Charlotte outside the slave quarters was priceless. She was knowledgeable, eloquent and passionate about the history. This was indeed the highlight of the tour. Wish we had more time.

Great tours, pretty plantations. However the trip takes all day (which I don’t mind). They wouldn’t give us extra time for lunch so we were very hungry. I didn’t eat breakfast prior to the trip so I went 7 hours in the heat without eating. It would be nice if the tour would stop at a restaurant without taking time out of the tour.

Thank you for the review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your plantation tour. I am sorry to hear that you did not have enough time to eat at Oak Alley's restaurant, however the tour description on our website does state that the combo plantation tour does not provide the amount of time needed to sit and eat at the restaurant because of the tour durations at each plantation. The Oak Alley plantation tour by itself is the tour that provides the time for lunch at Oak Alley's restaurant. However, there is a gift shop and deli on site at Oak Alley for quick food or snack purchases. We apologize for any misunderstanding and hope you have a happy New Year!

Laura Plantation is amazing and our guide Logan was one of the best tour guides we have ever had the pleasure of learning from. he was articulate, knowledgable, compassionate and interesting. we hung on to his every word. visitors to New zorleans should it miss seeing Zlaurs!! oak Alley is beautiful as well and touring its grounds was most enjoyable. the slave quarter displays were quite well done. spend time viewing them and skip the house tour done by a dear woman whose oft rehearsed script was a bit dull and uninteresting.

Thank you for the feedback! We're so glad you had a great experience on your Plantation Tour. Logan is employed with Laura Plantation directly, so I would suggest leaving a review with the plantation directly as well so he can hear how much you enjoyed his tour!

Pickup locations are convenient! We were able to get picked up and dropped off really close to our hotel. We did the Laura and Oak Alley plantations tour. The ride out to the plantations went by quickly because our driver was telling us history and interesting facts about areas we drove by. Both plantations were beautiful. Great experience with Cajun. The bus was clean and comfortable. They were timely with pickups and drop offs. Friendly knowledgeable driver wish I could remember her name. Super sweet lady!

Great experience with both plantations. Each one is presented a little differently. Laura gets into more detail of the creole influence and Oak Alley deals more with the financial aspect of sugar plantations. Our driver, Steven, was very informative about the areas the bus traveled through to get to the plantations.

The two plantations were very interesting and very different. I felt we spent too much time at Laura Plantation and by the time we got to Oak Alley we barely had time to grab something to eat for lunch and run to take our tour. The drive out to the plantations was quite long, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It made for a very long day. The company was easy to deal with, the staff was very friendly and professional.

This tour company was amazing! I want to specifically shout out Dwayne, our bus driver to the Laura and Oak Alley Plantations. He was so knowledgeable about the New Orleans and surrounding areas and was a great storyteller on the ride to our destination. He was enthusiastic and so kind to everyone on our trip, and was completely open to any questions anyone had!

Great tour! Sunshine was a delightful bus driver to and from the plantations. Lindsi at Laura Plantation was so informative-and you could tell she knew so much about the history of the family and social issues. Oak Alley was gorgeous-and the restaurant there delicious!

Thank you so much for the review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your tour at Oak Alley and your transportation to and from the plantation! Lindsi is an employee of Oak Alley Plantation, so I would recommend leaving a review with the plantation directly as well so she can hear how much fun you had on her tour!
