Amazing! Bryan is so awesome at this brewery tour stuff. This was my husband’s 1st and my 2nd tour with Big Swig and we could not be more pleased with our day. Bryan started things off right by communicating (by text) several days before to let us know the plan for lunch and for pick up. Picked us up at our hotel and took us to the train station. The train ride was fantastic... food, scenery, drinks! Bryan was waiting at the station like he was anxious to see us... not waiting in the van. Four different breweries, four fun experiences. We all had our favs but all were great in their own right. Dropped off back at our hotel with huge smiles on our faces. One last note... Bryan was super knowledgeable about beer, breweries and Alaska itself. Can’t wait to do it again!

This is a MUST for your Alaskan adventure!
Sep 2019 • Friends
The day started with a friendly pickup at our hotels and a quick drive to the train station. Bryan was a wonderful guide! He got us all checked in at the railway, no work for us! We loved the train ride! We had an amazing breakfast on board (very reasonably priced - avail for purchase on the train). We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and were greeted by Bryan at the Talkeetna station. Our first stop was the Denali Brewing facility and our guide there was Dale. He really seems to love what he does and it made the tour extra special! Bryan was with us all along the way and also provided some great input! We then had an amazing meal on the shuttle as we moved onto the next stop- Bearpaw! Another great place and more great conversation with Bryan. Bleeding Heart was next and that is just the coolest group of people! We went to Old Man Rush to finish the day. It was a perfect ending to a dream day. This is the perfect tour for any beer lover. All the people we met were so friendly! Bryan truly enjoys what he is doing and his desire to share his knowledge and love for the brew process shines through. It was a day we won’t ever forget. A Big Swig Tour is an epic way to spend your day!

What a unique way to see and taste Alaska!
Aug 2019
This was truly one of the most unique experiences I've done. We started the day by taking the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Talkeetna in an absolutely wonderful domed train car with to-die-for views along the way. The train car serves a hearty breakfast so don't eat before you leave on your trip! You'll want to enjoy the reindeer sausage omelet or blueberry pancakes with birch syrup, both Alaskan-ified dishes. I had a Bloody Mary and a Mimosa or two along the way north as well - hey, it was a drinking day, right? - and enjoyed both. Once the train ride was done, we were picked up by our Hoperator, Bryan, and started our day at Denali Brewing right in Talkeetna. This was the most in-depth brewery tour of the day - mostly because of the size of Denali Brewing vs the other breweries we visited. It was so cool to see the inner workings of the brewery and even cooler to taste so many delicious beers. We even tasted a beer directly off the canning line (and it was awesome!) We did a little merch shopping then it was off to our next brewery, which was a little over an hour's drive, so this was a perfect time to eat the delicious packed lunch from Talkeetna Roadhouse Bryan had picked up for us (I highly recommend the reindeer meatloaf sandwich!!) The next three breweries were all great and valuable in their own way, and my personal favorite was Bleeding Heart Brewery. I loved that each brewery had its own very distinct vibe and very distinct strengths vs the other breweries. Truly a great experience for any beer lover looking to see more of Alaska! Thank you for a wonderful day, Bryan!!

Big Swig Tours
Our tour operator, Brian, was a superb host. He planned a thoughtful itinerary, was fun, flexible and informative. His personal connections with the rail and brewery folks were fantastic, his van was new and clean and the lunch was excellent. His knowledge of beer and the breweries helped all to relate to the experience. It was a great day for dad and sons! Thanks Brian!

Amazing & Fun Experience
Jul 2019 • Couples
Bryan is amazingly knowledgeable and a wonderful host. We had such a good experience, from having fun, learning all about making beer, meeting locals and going to breweries off the beaten path.
My initial thought when looking at their site is that it is an expensive tour. However, it was worth every penny!!! We had a great day and a one of a kind experience.

Jul 2019 • Solo
Bryan is a great tour guide and really added to the experience by explaining even more about the brewing process, or explaining what the brewers meant in their explanations. The van was very comfortable and the lunch was also very good and LOCAL! Loved it and have already given 2 people recommendations to take a tour by Big Swig!!! THANKS Bryan!!!

Hi Tami, It was our pleasure to host you on our Hops on the Rail tour. It's important to us that our guests get more out of the tour than just tasting beer. Understanding and seeing the brewing process makes the beer taste that much better. We appreciate you spreading the love of Big Swig and Alaska beer!

Hops on the Rail Early June 2019
I have to make sure that I specify early June because the flowers are coming... I can't stress enough how important this tour was to my trip. Bryan Caenepeel is a master at his craft and if you even got to the point where you are reading this review, I guarantee that if you take this tour you will be given an opportunity to taste Alaska, see Alaska and understand Alaska. Granted, one look at those mountains will never truly allow us to own anything, but with Big Swig Tours you are afforded an opportunity to bask in its glory. I highly recommend this tour company and Hops on the Rail was exactly my cup of tea. I trust the owner of this company to provide high quality experiences at all levels. Thank you Bryan for setting the bar. Very clean, professional and a staple of the culture. Come out and see if you want to carry the torch.. or a beer.

This is not a paid testimonial, I just thoroughly enjoyed this trip so much that I created a trip advisor account and gushed ;)

We did the Hops on the Rail tour and took the train up to Talkeetna. Brian picked us up at our hotel, dropped us off at the train depot in Anchorage and then picked us up in Talkeetna to start the brewery tour! He was very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist and we met some great local brewers! We had a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed our tour. It was a great way to see Alaska.

Our goal is to deliver a truly VIP experience to every single guest on every tour. That is the advantage of choosing a small group tour company that is locally owned and operated. Thanks so much for including Big Swig Tours as part of your Alaska experience.

Awesome tour, scenic rail and beer education!!!
Bryan took great care of us as we got an awesome scenic rail dome car view of Denali and the open country. Plenty of moose were seen, trumpeter swans, beaver and so many water ways. We are early in the season but got great views of Denali. Then we got prime tours and tastings of 4 great AK breweries! I learned so much! We definitely would do this again!!!! So worth it! Thank you Bryan for your knowledge, patience and cool business!!!!
