I am glad my husband and I took this tour. It was a small group of 14 people in a small but comfortable van. We got picked up at our hotel in the morning slightly after 7am and got back to our hotel around 6pm. We were contacted via text the day before the event about some useful information such as:

“Thank you for choosing The Pineapple EXP! Just letting you know that pickups for the tour will begin at 7:00am-7:15am. Please stand by 7:00am in case you might be the first pickup…Please give us time to get there, for, we have other parties to pickup before hand. The driver will step outside and call your name. He will contact you when he can’t find you.

Please bring cash for lunch, a towel and wear your swimsuits under your regular clothes. Sunblock. This is not mandatory, but if you have the water shoes, we highly recommend to bring with you.”

My husband and I got breakfast beforehand but the driver stopped by a grocery store after picking up everyone for those who wanted or needed to get breakfast.

I liked the open Shrimp restaurant that we ate at. They had plenty of benches for sitting and a decent restroom.

Our driver Alex was very good. He knew I was on the lookout for sugarcane sticks or drinks so he stopped by fruit stands for everyone to get fresh fruit. Make sure to bring plenty of cash to spend at these fruit stands and other shops. We stopped and got shaved ice later and Alex grabbed us women in the group flower pins from one of the shaved ice place. When the beach we were scheduled to go to was less than ideal and brown, he drove us further down to a better spot. Even though the water was still somewhat brown, it was ideal for swimming because the water was calm. It had a nice sandy beach and shaded area. He watched our belongings while most everyone swam. At the end of the tour, he gave each party in the group a pineapple. We asked the restaurant connected to our hotel to borrow a knife or cut it for us, and they actually cut it into bite size for us. Overall, I recommend this tour.

My girlfriend and I went on the 8 hour tour to various interest poins in Oahu using the Pineapple Express tour. Our tour guide was Kiki. He is awesome! It was refreshing being able to go and see different parts of Oahu that were not Wakiki. It was refreshing to see the lush green areas/cities on the island.

Kiki has lived on this island for a long time, is a native hawaiian and has many stories to tell that has been passed down in his family for generations. The stories this man has to tell are countless, interesting and really enhances the tour. From origins of why certain areas are named what they are, to lore about gods/goddeses and past rulers... Kiki brings a lot of the land and points of interests to life. The experience becomes more than a ride to different locations.

He is sociable, cares about the safety of the people on the tour and is open(and encourages) the riders to ask any question during the tour.

At the end of the tour, he sings a couple of songs on his ukelele for everyone, which was beautiful and great. HIs stories, engagement with the riders and singing enhances the experience

Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend to any person who hasn't done a tour yet!

This tour is much better priced than many others and gives a more personal flavor (smaller group in a van rather than a huge bus). Among the more personalized service I received, a gigantic pineapple was given to each party as a gift at the end of the tour!
I traveled solo and also just recently sprained my ankle, and my tour guide Tyron helped me getting in and out of the van as well as taking pictures when I had no default photographer.
Pineapple Express also lent snorkeling gears for free, many other tours charged for that. Tyron made the long ride enjoyable in between stops, with many talking points and the occasional outbursts of singing. It is a karaoke van so those who like music and a good vibe shouldn’t miss it!

We just did our tour yesterday and I can’t express how dissatisfied we were after spending $359.
First our tour was scheduled for 7:30 they said we were to be picked up at 7:45. They came after 8am and then waited for 2 people who were booked for another day (Friday) for another half hour. So we left an entire hour later at 8:30.

They advertised on your itinerary that we would be going to Sunset Beach. Instead we drove for hours and stopped at two gift shops and a fruit stand for a total of an hour half of wasted time. This was our first time in Oahu and wanted to go to the beach as promised. Instead we drove by it and was finally taken to a turtle bay at 2:30 to snorkel in the water which was brown and murky and you could not see anything. You could see the turtles from outside the water.
This would have been fine had we stopped at another blue water beach instead of going to the stores.

Then they took us to the Dole plantation at 3:30 when everything was closed except the gift shop and the cafe. So we drove all Day to go to another gift shop instead of touring the plantation train or maze. The trains were still running but tickets were sold out as they had to be purchased beforehand. The tour could have prepurchased them.

This was disgraceful, it should be called the gift shop tour not advertised as going to sunset beach and dole plantation.

So we spent the entire day 10hrs in a van and were offered one water a piece. Water was also said to be included, not one water.

I feel we were dupped and would like a refund. They literally took away an entire day of our vacation riding in a van and going to gift shops. We are only here for 4 days so we lost a lot of time that we paid a lot of money for.

Aloha, we are sorry for your experience, however, please be sure that this is the correct tour you are speaking about. Every day we stop pat 10+ locations. Based on the fact that you said we only stopped at two locations means that you must have the wrong tour. Please, double check the name of the company.

Where do I begin? This tour was an absolute train wreck! We were left waiting for pickup for almost an hour and a half with no communication from the tour operator until after our third call. In the beginning the driver was telling us telling us about the mountain names, some Hawaiian history. When we stopped at the temple things went off the rails. He didn’t tell us how much time we had there, actually said “I have no idea”. Then it was time to order lunch - no thought into how to organize or manage this endeavor. My Granddaughter (teacher) finally got that under control. Then the driver discovered some of the items that were on the menu we ordered from were no longer available so he had to sort of start again with the ordering. He called the order in and by the time we got to the shrimp restaurant we had to wait at least a half hour to get the food as the place was totally slammed. There were no tables except those in the sun and we had at least 3 elderly - one in a wheelchair who definitely didn’t need to sit in the hot sun. I began to scour for a shaded table or two and finally found enough for most of our group. Then he told us we had to pay for our own meals and wanted to collect from everyone. He said the meals and drinks were a certain price and I gave him even dollars which was about $12 over what the meal should have cost. He couldn’t or didn’t keep track-again and I never received the change. I have no idea if anyone else did. By the time we left the lunch place, there was no way we could snorkel or see the remaining places in the tour and get back to Honolulu on time. Some of our fellow travelers wanted to stop at the Dole plantation which we did. The tour was supposed to include a free pineapple but our driver had no idea about that. Eventually he did provide one, at least for my group. I felt sorry for our driver in many ways as he was completely untrained and unaware of what he was supposed to do for the tour. I blame this more on the tour provider than him. Eventually I discovered that he had been without work and summoned early that morning to do this tour. I wouldn’t trust this tour company to orchestrate even the simplest tour in the future.

To start the day off, our driver was running late. We felt rushed the entire time. We only spent 15-30 minutes at each stop except lunch which was just a little longer. We only were allowed 30 minutes to shop at the Dole plantation . We barely were able to see any of the pineapple plants much less do the tour for which the wait was 1.5 hrs. When we arrived at the snorkel spot, the driver said, let’s see what I have in the back. He pulled out masks and snorkels and pointed down a path, go out there to the snorkel area while he stayed at the van. We left there and rode to what looked like an abandoned food truck. Turns out where we were supposed to eat was closed. We passed another place with a long line so the driver took us further down to a larger, nicer food truck park. We drove on to a macadamia nut farm where we spent about 15 minutes. Once we left there, we didn’t stop again. I don’t know what our other stops were supposed to be but the driver said that he was going to head back because of the time and the traffic. There was never a mention of our “free pineapple”. The driver told us some history of some of the areas we saw but we spent long stretches in silence. It felt like too much was crammed into the tour and I wouldn’t choose this tour again.

Basically this was a bunch of tourist traps and gift shops. It was almost worth it to see the turtles, but even that was a bit of a mess (I’ll get to that in a minute). I’m sure it would have been a better trip if our guide had been more prepared, but he didn’t even have a microphone, so he basically spoke to the guy in the front seat the whole time. Those of us in the back two rows heard nothing he said. He shared no history or information of the sights, and he really didn’t seem to know what to do with us at any of the locations and basically said “we are here” and that’s about it. If you’re expecting to be guided through snorkeling or shown how or even told what place you’re at by the guide, don’t. The worst part was that even at the stops for the coffee plantation and the Dole plantation, all you get to do is go to the gift shops. You can’t see the farms, can’t go into the pineapple maze, or really do anything other than shop. It didn’t help that the guide didn’t know the answer to any of our questions. It’s just not worth the money to drive through areas with no information.

We enjoyed our driver as he was very knowledgeable about the history, culture and areas of Oahu. The lunch at Fumi’s was awesome!
We were disappointed that we were picked up late which ended up having an effect on everything going forward. Besides an unplanned stop at the beginning, we had to wait on part of our group an extra 30 minutes at the temple. By the time we arrived at the turtle beach for snorkeling, the tour guide told us we could only spend 30 minutes or we would be late for the Dole Plantation, hardly time to snorkel. Again, the same group was late and the tour guide had to go find them. Needless to say, we arrived just in time to get in the door at the Plantation and get a Dole Whip. No time to do anything else there. Something my wife was looking forward to. An 8 hour tour turned into a 10 hour tour with less time for the main events.
We highly suggest that the tour guides should require everyone to be prompt at each stop or they should be left. It affects everyone else on the tour.

Exceptional tour guide, Trey, with vast knowledge in Hawaiian history, traditions, language and more! He was also very considerate, patient and kind! We never felt rushed and it was a good balance between talking and listening to music as we circled the island.

Fumi's Shrimp was large and fresh, and the rice was so tasty! Went all in and did the Pineapple Twist cone; pricy, but something to experience and sampled the addictive powdered plum on the fresh pineapple. Ring the bell at Byodoin Temple and get an omikuji fortune paper at the gift shop. Snorkeling from the beach is worth an attempt, but no reefs there. We were lucky not to have too many crowds! Don't forget to tip your hardworking guides!
