About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Froggytoo0 contributionsReally fun, informative and tasty food tourWhat an excellent introduction to Penang with the friendly and knowledgeable guidance of Brandon Lee. We were only in Penang for 3 days and quite overwhelmed by the choice of foods. Brandon took us on a tour stopping at 5 different places from street stalls to sit down restaurants and we ate a wide variety of different foods which were all delicious. Lots of great chat and tips along the way. The next day we returned to one of the food stalls for samosas and Brandon also gave some other suggestions of places to eat for our next evening. It really helped us get our bearings and gave confidence to try the local foods . Thank you. Would highly recommendWritten 26 September 2024
- MelN170 contributionsWe had a really special experience with our guide Brandon. Every stop was delicious and put in cultural contextBrandon’s knowledge of food and local history and culture was incredible. He taught us so much about Penang and Malaysia. We even bumped into his parents at one of our stops! He was so articulate and friendly and followed up with great recommendations for the rest of our trip:Written 18 September 2024
- cme4lyt0 contributionsFoodies Intro TourExcellent experience with the charming Brandon Lee! We tasted the best of what Georgetown had to offer, with just enough facts, figures and history thrown in to give us a big picture of the area. The follow up email summarising the tour was also tremendously useful.Written 17 August 2024
- Q134IAdavidb0 contributionsPenang food - this is it !Fantastic guide in Brandon. Professional, warm, informative and amusing too. A well balanced tour in terms of walking, stops, pace and a great range of food. We wanted to try Penang’s famous food offer and this tour was perfect !Written 7 August 2024
- gabi1503810 contributionsGood food and good companyWe took this tour to make sure we experienced all the food Penang had to offer. Brandon was very knowledgeable and he chose a wide variety of dishes. We were only 7 persons and it made it easy to interact. The best was the Nonya restaurant he picked. Will definitely try it again if we come back to Georgetown.Written 6 August 2024

- georgenabilk0 contributionsLovely food and cultural lessons with a great guide!Wonderful walk through Little India and Chinatown with glorious food stops and stories about the culture and history of this lovely town. Be sure to ask Brandon for recs beyond the scope of this wall!Written 5 June 2024
- LizGo0 contributionsMust do!Fantastic tour! Food is culture and history. This tour delivers much more than just a full stomach- although we certainly had that. We were happy we chose the evening tour not only because it is cooler in the evening to walk around, but it was interesting to watch the streets change from the busy traffic of tourists and businesses to the locals coming out to visit, eat and go about their lives. We all felt it was the best tour we had taken out of many. Brandon did an amazing job.Written 13 February 2024
- rooroo770 contributionsGreat tour of Georgetown!Brandon was very friendly and informative. It was a really interesting tour and we tried some delicious food, we ended the tour in a great spot to go for a drink too finish the evening off. Would definitely recommend.Written 7 February 2024
- Jonathan D0 contributionsGreat intro to PenangBrandon the guide was first class. He speaks fluent English and is very knowledgeable on local food, customs and history. If you are only briefly stopping in Penang this is about as good an intro as you can get. Specifically, street food (Penang is all about food) is often difficult as the traders rarely speak English so a guide, on your first outing, is a great start. This tour is fairly pricey for the food you get, but worth it for the knowledge received.Written 6 January 2024
- Freedom5971880 contributionsTasty, relaxt and informative 😋Tasted and got background on all sorts of food from different places. Relaxt and informative evening with our great guide Brandon. Started in time and small group. Had a great time and more than enough to eat 😃 Recommend this trip very much!Written 14 December 2023
- jfairer0 contributionsGreat introduction to the food and culture of Georgetown. It was a great introduction to the food of Georgetown. We did this tour on the day we arrived. Brandon was brilliant. It really set us up for the rest of the holiday. We have since revisited a couple of the places. The chicken samosas we had are probably the best I have ever tasted.Written 29 November 2023
- niallliams0 contributionsExcellent food tour of GeotgetownBrandon, our guide gave a fact filled and delicious food tour of Georgetown at night... We would thoroughly recommend the tour to anyone!Written 23 November 2023
- emmagraham280 contributionsThe best food experience in PenangThis food tour is amazing! Our guide Brandon was so knowledgeable. We learnt so much about the history of Penang, its food and people - all while enjoying a huge range of authentic dishes. Highly recommend!Written 25 October 2023
- Jasminehelen0 contributionsDelicious, informative night outThis fabulous tour was like a night out with good friends. Friendly and amazingly informative, Brendan took us to a great variety of eating spots but the highlight for me was fascinating explanations of the culture, architecture and religions. It really was the best walking tour I’ve done anywhere in Asia. The food of course was amazing, and we were given details of the ingredients which really added to the experience. It was so great to get a follow up email the next morning with detailed information about the places and foods we had tried. It also included suggestions ( and location links!!) to even more fabulous eating places around George Town.Written 13 October 2023

This is our third trip to Penang and we thought we knew a bit about the world renowned street food in Penang, but decided to take the 3-Hour Heritage on a Plate Tour anyway.
Our guide, Jeremy, soon made us realise how little we actually knew. Not only does Jeremy live and breathe food, his knowledge of the origins, the history of the area and his long term experience in Penang was encyclopaedic.
I have a few dietary restrictions and Jeremy had gone out of his way to ensure that this was all covered in the tour which made for a seamless and thoroughly enjoyable day.
There were so many places, flavours and locations that we could not possibly have remembered all of them. This is were the cream on the cake came in. The next day, Jeremy sent us a comprehensive list of all of the place we visited, the food we sampled and recommendations of many others to try in the future.
Highly recommended, thank Jeremy from Bevan and Fiona.

The knowledge imparted by the guide we had on the day, which was not the guide originally scheduled but someone called in late….
His knowledge of the history of Malaysia and how that related to Malaysia’s cuisine was invaluable. We ate at some amazing establishments that highlighted this, including some that are Michelin referenced.
I would recommend this to anyone interested in the evolution of Malaysian cuisine.

To be honest, wasn’t sue what to expect. Brandon turned up on the dot and the next 3 hours was a thoroughly entertaining and informative morning not only sampling many different ethnic dishes but also learning about Malay life, art, culture and its people. A tremendous way to pass a morning. Great guide and even better food.

I try to go on food tours in every new place I visit, but of all the tours I’ve been on, this one is truly special. Not only did we get to stop and eat a wide variety of delicious food, we also gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of Penang. The history of this area is so storied. Learning through food and art was such a wonderful way to get to know the city. If there was only one thing I could do in Penang, this tour would be it.

My husband and I had a great lunch tour with Danny. He is such an excellent guide and really knowledgeable about Penang. We love getting to know cities that we travel to through their food, and this tour definitely did that for us. We visiting quite a few places that we would’ve never found on our own or known what to order. We would highly recommend doing this tour when visiting Penang!

A fantastic way to explore George town and the incredible variety of cuisines it has on offer with such a diverse population. Brandon was an excellent guide, he gave us a taste of the culture and history of the area as well as the food. Every tour is different and ours covered a huge variety - from char koay teow through Malaysian Muslim Indian curries, different Peranakan fusion cuisines and some sweet treats. I would hugely recommend this tour to anyone who likes food!

So grateful to Darna and Jeremy for a fabulous afternoon of history, culture and most importantly, incredible food! We would absolutely not have been able to find the amazing local treasures they took us to during our walking tour.
After our tour they also generously followed up with further suggestions for other places to visit plus the details of each dish we had tried at each establishment.
The afternoon was well paced, with a deeply considered menu.
Can't recommend highly enough if you are looking a friendly, informative and delicious local tour in Penang!

We had a great time on our tour with our guide Jeremy! He shared so much about the local cuisine and culture. he was able to answer all of our questions and catered the tour to our wants and needs. We brought our 3 year old along and Jeremy was patient with him too, even though the tour isn't really ideal for small kids. We tried lots of things we wouldn't of ordered on our own and were happy with everything. Highly recommend! I wish we would have had more time to check out the recommendations from Jeremy after our tour or to even do a dinner tour.

A wonderful morning spent touring some interesting Penang foodie establishments we would never have found without our knowledgable guide Brandon. Many of which are hidden behind unpretentious shop fronts to which many would not look twice.
An amazing tour, Truly remarkable food!

My boyfriend and I did the lunch hop and cannot recommend it enough. Living in Singapore we are familiar with a lot of the dishes from the region but Danny was absolutely fantastic, listening to our requests and tailoring the tour to take us to a variety of places to try new things as well as his favourite haunts for the dishes we already knew. His knowledge of Penang is unquestionable - we had expectations of having a lunch and learning about the foods and having to take a separate cultural tour, however Danny seamlessly integrated the culture, history and cuisine into a fabulous 3.5 hours. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting to understand more about the culinary capital of Malaysia. Outstanding selection of food, thanks Danny!
