This site is a real treasure for those who love ancient Roman ruins, but one would gain the most by doing a tour with a guide. Even without a guide, there were signs and a helpful booklet for purchase. Take care because the sun is...More

This was my second visit here -- I had last been here in 1977/78 when I lived in Bet She'an at Kibbutz Shluchot as a volunteer and ulpan student. Much more has been uncovered/dug up since that time. I came so my DH could discover...More

These are fascinating Roman ruins that are actually enough intact to give you insight to life during these times. However, there is little to no shade so you must prepare for a lot of walking in the heat. We had a great guide with us...More

Last time i was in this area was 1986. What a difference. Back then all that could be seen was a metre high column sticking out of the ground. Now there is a city and the column is actually 4 metres tall. The night tour...More

Bet She'an is a really interesting place to discover once again something nice from the Roman Empire. I could really imagine how beautiful the buildings and the whole city were at that time. I recommend this national park for everyone who is interested in history,...More

Prepare for 5-6 hours of action. Even if all you do is walk around every finding, it is hours and hours. And if by chance this is a day with activities for children and , than it is another 2-3 hours.

Beit She'an is supposedly one of the largest archaeological sites in the Middle East, and yet almost nobody comes here. What this means for you as a tourist is that you have a colossal set of ruins almost entirely to yourself, and because the Nature...More

My wife and I have seen plenty of Roman ruins like those in Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples, Rome and Nimes but we have to say that these at Bet She'an are some of the best that we have seen. Not only that, there's even more history...More

This is a great find of a Roman city. Israel is full of archeological digs but this must be one fo the more exciting in spite of the fact that it is far from finished. The general view from the Amphetheater is fasinating. When you...More

When I look back on the time we had in Israel, I wish we'd had more time at some of the religious sites we hurried through - and while these were beautifully preserved (and/or rebuilt?) Roman ruins, I've been to Italy (and the UK, and...More
