This is a nice area and worth taking a walk around if your in the area but I would not travel specifically to visit this location. The beaches next to it are fantastic and really well set up for equipment hire, sun loungers etc..

Safety is a very personal issue. I can tell you that I feel fine here but it may be different for you. I would ask your embassy for their recommendation.
