I came to Guatemala for a month. Since I work from home as a sales manager I can locate myself anywhere. What a fantastic place! I’ve always been told Guatemalans are friendly and they are. “Son muy Amable.” First hike was Pacaya. You either have...More

Gorgeous night hike with a guide. Wear a headlamp or take a flashlight and warm clothing. If you have a walking stick, it may be helpful to bring. Bring some marshmallows to roast while you are up there :)

First about the hike. It's about 1.5h uphill but very doable with normal fitness. I would recommend buying/renting a stick from the kids at the base ($1 - you can keep it but most likely you'll just give it back to the kids when you...More

The views are stunning, the heat still emitting, the marshmallows roasting and the ride back down on a house is worth it.

Perhaps trips up the volcano during rainy season should be undertaken in the morning. A great trip but the visibility was poor. We did the trek on horseback and I was pleasantly surprised to find the horses well fed and looked after. There were 4...More

Even if you are not a hiker, if you have some exercise habits, this trip is a must see! We used Ox Expeditions (Excursions maybe and did an overnight.

Hi Lone Traveller - there are many different agencies offering the tour with different schedules and prices. The basic sunrise tour can be booked at pretty much every agency and hostel. Hope that helps! Vc

We used Sin Fronteras for our whole trip. They are local as well. Excellent service. More high end.
