We have visited Puerto Jimenez and the Golfo Dulce 3 times. It is just great for calm and comfortable swimming/chilling. Largely surrounded by rain forest. My very favorite place to go whale watching in August! Mothers and calves are there along with breaching males. Sea...More

The beach is rather hidden down a long narrow dirt road, but it was beautiful. Tropical trees and driftwood add to the peacefulness. Mountains visible across the water.

The Golfo Dulce is a lovely tropical fjord. We saw lots of wildlife as we paddled from Puerto Jiminez up to Rincon, and passed some very nice beaches.

This is the place you really want to visit if you go to Costa Rica. The place is wild and wildlife abounds both in the rainforests around it and at sea. There are hardly any tourists around especially on the side of the Piedras Blanca...More

Puerto Jimenez itself is not worth any effort to reach, except it does provide ocean access to the magnificent Osa Peninsula. Our guide, Randall ?? was provided to us as part of a shore excursion (limit 7 people) included with our Windstar Cruise. We spent...More

The national parks are the main attraction, but I found that there are some remote locations reachable by boat that get away from any crowds. There are a couple of eco-lodges, including Playa Nicuesa, that offer unique opportunities for jungle and gulf exploration. The gulf...More
