There is a well-travelled footpath along the coastline, about 20 metres above the water. The path occasionally drops down to the water at coves where one can have lunch and a swim.

Great views and plenty of fresh air. Sadly we were short of time and had to drive to the lighthouse, rather than walk which we would have preferred. It was a windy day, which made getting out of the car difficult and I would strongly recommend that you pick a calm day for your walk, or drive. We drove from the Port Vendres side and found it a difficult and challenging drive, given the narrow single lane road, steep drops and oncoming traffic. In October it was not too busy; but I suspect that in August the road will be very busy, so take care. Finally and again on a calm day this would be a good spot for a picnic. In summary take the stress out of your visit by walking to the lighthouse and by picking a calm day. Enjoy.
