Except if you are on this tour, the public's access is limited to about 4 km on the west end of the spit. The busses used are purpose built, high off the ground with large super grip tires, four-wheel-drive, capable of up driving up to 60 km/hour down the spit's flat sand beach. Our Tour in included Fossil Point, northern... More

Seriously, either pay your staff more, or expect them to be a whole lot better at customer service. Have been in several times over the past months. Unless there is some improvement in the service received, we will take our friends elsewhere.

This was a tour that is inaccessible unless you go on the Eco tour. Beautiful unspoilt beaches. Pristine! Saw fur seals and walked along the beach. Informative guide. Took us to the lighthouse and had coffee and muffins there. Able to climb one of the sandhills

If you have got this near to the tip of S Island, this is a must. The time of your trip varies according to tides but we were lucky and it was a very civilised hour. We picked up the trip at the car park at the start of the beach and so avoided the extra time on the bus... More

We love Golden Bay this trip was suggested, the family were reluctant to clamber out of bed early before sunrise to meet the bus. HOWEVER, amazing tour to an amazing part of our beautiful country. We saw seals running, whales beached, huge sand dunes, an abundance of birdlife, the lighthouse. It was really enjoyable and well worth doing.

A beautiful and fascinating place-Farewell Spit. Elaine was the driver and guide and she made the experience really delightful. Although she has been doing this job for 12 years, her enthusiasm and energy, made it seem like it was the first time she had taken the trip. I loved her personality. She was full of interesting knowledge, and went out... More

This is a "must do" for all travellers to Collingwood...it's that or the Heaphy Track...and personally that's not a contest! We took the 6 hour trip that takes you to the end of this magnificent 37 kilometre sand spit that guards Golden Bay. Seals rest on the foreshore and birds abound, Turnstones, Godwits and Oyster Catchers for the bird enthusiasts... More

Everything on the day trip was done professionally. We were collected on time, and then taken to the start of the 25km beach where the driver carefully picked his route through the sand and water to the lighthouse where we had morning tea. We passed heaps of wildlife that was all pointed out to us and explained about their habits.... More

Near Puponga, up the end of Golden Bay, is the cape called Farewell Spit. You can't miss it, of course, there is nothing else there, but the information office - and cafe! - is near Puponga. And apparently, that is another nice beach to visit, a little separate from the vast white sands of the Spit. The walk over the... More
