Alibag is pretty much dead around this time. Jetties are closed, so you can’t go to Murud Janjira fort, or any of the other forts. Water sports is closed. So, everything is closed in the name of monsoon, but it was bright and sunny all the 3 days we were there. The water was completely murky and the sand was muddy. We went inside the water, without knowledge of the fact that a nearby oil rig spills oil into the water around this time. This came from a local, and all of us were feeling sick after that. The government should put up a warning and prevent tourists from going into the water if that is the case.

Visited it in March. Good for sunset views. Less crowded than the main beach at Alibaug. Usual water sports, ATV rides are there.
Good to spend an hour or thereabouts.

Happened to visit this beach on a weekend in Mar'15. Not much of crowd during this time, i assume because of the exam season. This place is good for water sports, very cheap compared to the ones available in Goa, again i think because of the non peak season.

there were Jeskis, Bumper tube rides and Banana rides. We opted for Jetski which was okayish considering you cant do it all alone. Werent interested in the Bumper tube rides because it required 3 people and we were only 2. The best was the Banana ride which requires a group of 8 or 10. Luckily there was a larger group of our age group with whom we hopped in. Very thrilling and damn cheap at Rs 100 per person compared to the Rs 750 that we paid in Goa around four years back. So, you can imagine! Also we did go for a swim in the beach which was awesome.

I would recommend to visit this place, preferably during lean season and as a group so that you'd have unlimited fun.

Three rating for this beach, cause beach is good but mode of transportation is few.

The beach is still is crowd free. We reached Varsoli beach from Hotel Maple IV via Rick, costing 80 bucks.

The beach was less crowded at 4 pm, however few people started pouring in by sunset. For activities, ATV are there for half kilometer ride, costing 150 for single and 200 for double riders. Jet skies and dingies are also available. The water is not that clean but better than alibag beach. You can see Kolaba fort deep in the sea. This beach is an extension of alibaug beach.

For snacks there are few stalls but didn't seem that hygiene to give it a try. Government should have changing rooms and wash room installed to boost tourism.

While returning we did not get any autorickshaw and had to walk about 500 odd meters till to get a Rick. Si if you have your own vehicle, it would be more convenient.

I feel the beach is good for one time visit, but lack of transportation proved to a disappointment.

This beach is like any other beach in and around Mumbai- the only difference is that the water is a bit cleaner- but you have to think twice before taking the plunge as the sand is generally black in colour. You can have very beautiful sunset view, watching from the parapet, which has been constructed all along the beach. Another good thing about the beach is the long line of Casuarina tree all along the coast. If you walk on them, you feel you are walking on the cushion.
It is definitely a good break from the urban lifestyle. There are many bunglows nearby, which can be taken for rent, when youy are moving in group. There is also a children garden beneath the Casuarina trees, which is good for their engagement.

Versoli beach is a pleasant beach with good shade from the tree making it apt location for a nice picnic. Google maps might direct you to the Versoli beach jetty & hence its better to watch out for the directions boards or ask for directions if you are self driven- has decent spacious place for parking.
Unfortunately we went there on a high tide day- the shore was not even visible as waves were splashing till the rocks, hence there was no option to try the Water sports- though they were available.

Hence it was peaceful beach experience without noisy traffic, crowds or vendors in the background- just perfect for a weekend getaway!!

I was born and bought up in Varsoli, apart from that I have spend rest of my life in Metro cities.. My review is from a perspective of the beauty of the beach, the serene nature, and most of it all the calmness which the city life somehow misses.. small things which the city may not even have taught us can be experienced here.. I have seen it all and upclose.. both the sides.. and let me tell you even today a day spent on Varsoli beach is as good as a week spent in a city.. literally !!

Let's talk about the beach and it's aesthetics.. It's 5 -10 mins away from the main city of Alibag.. onto the rural side of Alibag but never apart from the latest. Access roads are good and you can go right upto the beach.. lots of parking space on the beach itself makes it much more convenient.. but don't take a 55 seater bus there.. it will sure clog the traffic.. the beach is a wide beach .. how wide ??? let's say a play ground of the size 3 kilometers by 1 kilometers.. yes you read me correct.. KILOMETERS!!

The tide plays the role here so low tide is when you will see the vast of this beach.. the high tide gets the waters right till the holding rock barricades which stretch along the complete shoreline. So low tides are preferred for play time in the sand .. a foot ball game or a cricket match.. also to mention the beach ball lovers.. you name it and you can play whatever you wish.. Frisbee kite flying anything.. bring your drones and your radio controlled planes..

The high tide on the other hand has its perks too.. whoever visits the beach has always wanted to take a dip and this is the safest option to do that.. even if you can't swim.. As I mentioned earlier it's one of the safest beaches around for a swim during high tide.. no rocks, no trick waters, no swirls and no sudden depth.. it's the shear length of the shore that gives it that advantage of being a safe beach. You can take a mud bath using the sand from the beach..( it actually helps the skin shed the dead skin parts and the salt water helps the healing process as well as acts as a disinfectant for your outer body). Adventure lovers have the water sports action to enjoy.. options from banana rides to jet ski and of course the Quad bikes come in handy to take a spin around the shore. (Swimming is suggested during the high tides only as during low tides the rock formations from the far away seabeds pose a risk for skin cuts and injuries if you are not careful)

The beach also offers lot of shade during the afternoons when the sun is shining at its peak. The plantations around the shore offer a lot of space to sit and enjoy your time in the sand and under the shade of tall trees.

One can choose from the wide variety of snack options available right from bhel puri to fried fish.. enjoying the ICE GOLA is fun.. For the health conscious there's always the coconut water handy..

For complete meal options the village offers lot of places where home cooked delecacies are served.. one of them is place run by Mr Bal mhatre and Mrs.Anuradha Mhatre and she cooks the best in town ! Just ask around for them ( 1 minute walk back from the beach) and locals will guide you right through (search on google maps for Ashish mhatre's varsoli beach resort).. Once there you are in the humble hands and bet that you will not be disappointed.. Just make sure that you book the order when you arrive in varsoli as it takes time for arrangements and cooking. They have a limited capacity but it's worth the wait and one should experience it in Varsoli. All options of veg and non-veg are available on thali basis.. Vegetarian meals are as delicious as the lip smacking Fish preparations.

If you are staying in Varsoli then going around is also easier and there are a lot of options.. Near the beach are the historic temples of Bhavani and Shankar these are very old and belong to times or Shivaji / Aangre families .. There's also a Vithoba Mandir on a 10 mins walk which too is from the historic era and is a fantastic example of heritage architecture..

Other shorelines are also in the vicinity of around 10 to 15 kms and can be reached by car or other modes of transport locally available. Some known and popular beaches are Satad beach, Kihim beach, Mandwa jetty etc.. beaches like Murud and Kashid can also be reached but are at a distance of 35 to 50 kms from Alibag. Birla temple is also a famous site which is visited frequently, this is at a distance of about 18 - 20 kms from Alibag.

Alibag fort is also an attraction and can be reached on foot from Alibag beach.. the walk should be experienced and is fun.. follow the security process and adhere to the sirens which alert you of high tides. Please do not venture in the water during high tide on Alibag beach as it's completely insecure and dangerous because of the swirls formed when tide turns.

Overall Varsoli beach has been the best place to visit as well to stay over for a wonderful time away from the city life. !!

the beach is really nice and clean compared to the dirty Alibaug beach. You won't find the oil on the beach and the water was clean too. You have to pay parking if you are taking the car to the beach.

Nice beach near Alibaug, but nice thing is good sea sports facilities available here. Pine tree shades makes this place romantic. Tea shops and coconut shops fills your immediate requirements.

Sea Water is not clean near Mumbai.
