What a wonder! The cave itself and the boat trip to enter. Absolutely recommended if you are in Laos. It's probably quite difficult to reach (at least consider 2-3 days off your standard route if you're not doing the loop) but it deserve the effort. Some of the best side of Laos I've seen.

We are on a very tight time schedule but thought we'd travel downwards to the cave, way out of our timing but wow thank god we did! Absolutely incredible! Very untouched and not many people around. Have done a lot of caving in south east Asia but this was one of the best. 7km is a long way, and once... More

Worth the journey, the cave is incredible! It's hard to explain how you feel when your sailing down as your can barely see a thing. We had a few bats fly around the boat you can also hear them, it's a creepy and mysterious place!

Hands down, this is a must try in Laos, no second thoughts about it. Most people on backpacking trips through this country will have enough time to hear and visit this place but if you plan a short trip like I did you should definitely put this high on the list of things to do in Laos. The caves will... More

The cave was my number one highlight in all of laos and i am so glad we did the somewhat strenous detour to get there.... It was simply breathtaking. The darkness, the vastness, the magically illuminated stalagmites, simply superb. Our captain navigated us securely and i definitely recommemd a visit at the cave. Make sure to stay at springriver resort... More

You know how it is - you get to a new town, find accommodation and then figure out what to do and see. And it seems like every little village in Laos and Vietnam has their own cave, the best and most beautiful in the area and something you shouldn't miss. This way I've seen about 6 or 8 caves,... If doing the loop from Thakhek during the dry season you can either use the dirt track down from route 1E after Ban Oudomsouk and near Ban Nakai or do the full loop via Ban Thalang and Lak Xao. The latter is the only option in the wet season. The cave is amazing and not to be missed. As this... More

We visited Kong Lor cave in September. You can park your bike/car quite close by and then walk to the river side. The people working at the parking and the boat place are really friendly. My partner managed to crack his head open on a sign post just by the river (we later met someone else who did the same... More

Even though it took us hours to get here, it was well worth the trip. It is a beautiful cave and the boat journey through it is amazing. A little scary on the boat at first as there was heavy rainfall the day before so the water seemed a little choppy but the staff looked after us. They provide you... More

Laos is such a mystical and fantastic place. However Kong Lor Cave still remains to be one of our favorite spots we visited while in Laos. It's quite a long boat ride through a very dark cave. There is a spot underneath that is lit and you can actually get out of the boat and walk through it. Plus at... More
