Not safe to walk in at the moment but when we visited you could go and stand at the entrance of the tunnel and look down it, so you did get a feel of the place. To be honest we couldn't see you getting a...More

Unfortunately, it was still shut when we visited. We weren’t aware of this beforehand. You can walk a short distance into the tunnel before the barrier so you still get a bit of a feel for it. There are some information boards about the tunnel...More

Why on earth don't they put up a sign in the car park of the china museum?! or tell you when you buy the passport - it would save a lot of disappointment.

Unfortunately the tar tunnel has been partially closed for a while now due to a health and safety issue with gas. You can only go to the entrance rather than walking the tunnel wearing a hard hat. What a pity they don't tell you this...More

This tunnel has been closed off so you can not go into it, it's been like this for a couple of years, the entrance to it is via a small shop that sell souvenirs, total waste of time visiting it,

Having made the journey to Ironbridge and bought my museum annual pass - very good value, I was determined to visit each of the 10 museums. So off I headed to the tar tunnel - something of a freak of nature I thought. We parked...More

It wasn't until we walked in that we found access to the tunnel itself has been stopped and you get about 10' (3m) of what was supposed to be an exploration through a tar tunnel. Not to take anything from the wonderful gentleman in attendance...More

Very difficult to find but once you do you are greeted by the most amazing polite and friendly staff. Small museum on the tunnel and great little gift shop items from £1 upwards. The tunnel itself is lighted and gives a very authentic but eerie...More
