Shrine, foods, scenery, ocean, history, and so on. Many aspects of fun are here. I've easily enjoyed a full day. Enoshima shrine is one of the oldest shrines that many people have been travelling to this place for hundreds of years. Seafood rice crackers are popular for locals and tourists. Scenery is great from everywhere to every direction. You can... More

What an amazing experience we had at Enoshima Island. There are certainly a lot of steps to climb to get to the top but the whole thing is great. Beautiful temples and gardens together with multiple food outlets and a huge variety of dried foods, spices, souvenirs etc. At the top of the island, you can climb up the lighthouse.... More

We visited when it was a little cold. The views were nice from the top. The walk to the top was filled with shops and restaurants. The shrine/temple was nice as well.

Watching sunset in Enoshima is pretty much the only thing I had wanted to do before my trip began; but even so I was not prepared for this strikingly beautiful view.

Take the train from Shinjuku station and in about an hour with one change, you will arrive at the bridge to the island. The walk across the bridge is an eye opener, despite warm, sunny weather on the way it turned blustery and cold. Ladies do yourselves a favor and do not wear a dress or skirt unless you have long... We went to THE major shrine festival mid January. Japanese guys in loincloths ( fundoshi) carry the Mikoshiba (portable shrine) into the freezing cold water after getting sloshed on sake....

You can get here from Kamakura using the Enoshima Dentetsu line (electric car). Keep an eye out the window as the views are great, especially while you ride along the ocean. After getting off at Enoshima station, you'll walk south across the bridge. Look right and you may be able to see the majestic Fuji-san, depending on how clear it... More

I loved visiting Enoshima island! As others have mentioned the island is pretty steep! There is an escalator, but this only goes up, not down, and doesn't go to all parts of the island. The island has great views and atmosphere - I would definitely recommend buying visiting the sea caves!

One of my favorite places to visit, exercise, relax, bring visiting friends from out of town/country and stuff my face. Visit/bring out of town visitors/ exercise: I've been here several times. I'm always trying something new. The restaurants or spend a little more time looking around. I'm Fitbit person so I log in many steps and floors from the front... More

Enoshima is a magical island, easily accessed from Tokyo by train (you can use your suica card). A short walk across the bridge from the station takes you to this enchanted island - it used to be the home of a Dragon after all. The narrow winding streets take you on a climb to the shrines that stand proudly atop... More
