If you visit odawara which is likely if you go to Hakone as most people change train here or change for the bus. Luckily it's in close proximity to the Station and signage is most clear. It's pretty and outside has nice areas for seating. The castle offers amazing views also and various religious shrines.

On the way to Hakone, you might want to drop by at Odawara Castle at Odawara Station. If you want to get out from the train to get move your legs this will be a great place to visit. There is an observation deck which at the top of the castle. Don't expect to see the old castle as they... More

Very beautiful castle. In the base they have monkeys and you can dress as a samurai and walk around for 10 minutes for 300 yen. Super fun experience. You can go all the way to the top and sometimes you can even see mt fuji from the top on a clear day.

We had planned to stop briefly at Odawara Castle before proceeding on to the Hakone area but when the cold rain settled in we thought better of it. We turned it into a castle visit and a walking tour of Odawara - and we were thoroughly glad we did. At the outset it should be understood that this is a... More

The view from above is nice and the grounds and shrine nearby are worth looking at too. Located south of the train it's a short walk to the castle. There you can spend a few hours wandering around.

The outside was great, unfortunately the inside was closed due to renovations. The surrounding area is fantastic, with many koi in the canal around it.

The 7th highest castle in Japan and near to Tokyo. The castle is a rebuild castle from edo period. The museum is very small and not worth paying extra for it. Recommend to just pay to visit the castle keep and to go to edo-tokyo museum for better museum tour.

Love at first sight! Our trip was so worth it. Even though some parts of the interior was sort of modern, I fell inlove on the exterior. I could look at this beautiful building all day! I look forward to seeing more castles here in Japan!
