The closest Railway Station is Yokose and it's a ten minute walk to here Unfortunately it was just after the peak time for the flowers when we visited It's very popular in Golden Week There is a big carpark and you could get a taxi here but phone them to meet you at the station The site itself overlooks Mt... Whenever we visited Japan in springtime, we would try to spare the morning session to take the direct express train from Ikekukuro to Hitsujiyama Park and spend at least three hours there to see the beautiful shibazakura and took pictures around the park. There were many temporary stalls selling food and souvenirs including shibazakura at the entrance of the park.... More

A bit hard to reach by public transport, but that is all of its drawbacks. Near the end of April, it was beautiful, almost the same condition as in the promoting pictures. If you are late for the sakura blossom, it can be a nice compensation a few weeks later.

Beautiful flowers. If you go during the mid april to early may season, you will see sights that look just like the pictures you see online. It's about 1.5 - 2 hours from Tokyo by Seibu-Chichibu line. If you take the express, note that you will need to buy a regular ticket AND an express ticket which totals a little... More

I visited the park during the golden week. The Shibazakura was nearly in full bloom with different colours. It took one and half hours from Ikebukuro station by standard train and there is an express train, by which let takes 15 minutes less. The park was crowded with visitors who wanted to see the Shibazakura garden.

Visited for the Chichibu Flower Festival. Pictures really do not capture the true beauty of the park. There are also tulips and some small patches of flowers that make pictures. Lastly, at the top of the hill there is all the street food you can eat. It was a great time and well worth the visit.

I took a day-trip via bus from Shinjuku station that included a stop at Hitsujiyama Park as well as Ichigo-gari (strawberry hunting!). The flowers at the park weren't fully in bloom yet during the strawberry season, but if you go later than the end of April, you will probably run into Golden Week vacationers crowding the park at the beginning... It was very long ride just to see these small pink, white, blue flower beds (Phlox subulata). We came by car so it was convenient and after the Japanese long Golden week holidays so not so crowded and parking lots are free of charge. Most flower beds past their flowering display but still was able to catch some good views.... More
