I am lucky to have friends in nearby Takase so this was the closest town of note. Interesting place with a great history of woodcarving. This little town is obviously a popular stop for the tour buses. The parking lot at the bottom of the street leading to the temple was full of busses when we stopped midmorning. A great traditional Japanese street scene, topped by an impressive temple and awash with wood carving genius.

The temple, art of wood curving, their people, their sake, and tasty yet crunchy rice crackers... Everything I put my hands on, hear about, observe, and taste became my amazement.
