We visited Korobe Gorge and Dam during Autumn 2016. Beautiful, breath taking! We took the Torokko train, what an exciting experience. The 80 minutes ride up and then back did not feel that long at all, every minute the view was fantastic. When we reached Kokeidiara station which was the last stop, we did a hike to the end, there... Visited recently , aiming to see the autumn leaves in all it's glory. Regretfully the weather wasn't in our favor , rained the whole day . Thankfully we had some windows of sunshine through the drizzling rain , and when the sun shines down , the whole valley turns from gloomy yellow to gold in seconds . Will definitely return... More

I had my hopes up about this place which sounds so beautiful on all reviews. I am sorry to say it isn't special in any way (in mid October) unless you like dams or riding trains. Way too expensive. So yourselves a favor and don't go there unless it spring blossom or fall colors. Also, of you still decide on... More

If you are around Toyama, don't miss out this gorgeous scenery spot. After leaving the Dentetsu Unazuli-onsen, you'll find to the Kurobe Gorge Sightseeing train station just a few steps away. This is the departure point of the train ride to Keyakidaira. I will suggest you purchase a round journey ticket. There is a half price offer for seniors over... More

Don't miss this natural beauty. As It was not the peak season, we could get on the train easily, seat wherever we wanted and moved on both sides to see the nice scene. We recommended you to take the train with 'open carriage'. You can take a breath of fresh air and take photos without reflection of window pane. What... More

Took the train to Keyakidaira for a day trip. We went up on an 'open carriage' so that we can take pictures without reflection on the Window pane. The ride through the mountains was both refreshing as well as breath taking. It is worth the effort changing trains from Toyama to get there. Highly recommended.

Our Kurobe visit started at the village of Unazuki Onsen. This onsen is supposedly one of the best in the Toyama prefecture. It is in a nice green valley. Back about 80 years ago or so, they started building the Kurobe Dam. They built a railroad to carry the workers, equipment and other stuffs deep into the valley, up the... More

Our family decided to visit the Kurobe Gorge although it was quite a far distance for us to travel to from Osaka along the north coast of Japan. It's not really a widely known tourist area but it's very popular with the Japanese population. Do not expect to find many people who speak English there and try to arrive during... More

We book the Kurobe Railway for 30th Nov. Took a train from Dentetsu Toyama Station to Unazuki Onsen station... was a long train ride and many stops but was quite scenic ride. Once we arrived, we took a short 4 min walk to Unazuki Station (for the Kurobe Gorge Railway). Recommend to book the tickets in advance and choose the... More

Went here mid October and oh my god - absolutely best time for the most amazing shots of the gorge. Though it was EXTREMELY crowded on the train - where isn't in Japan? If you go all the way to the last stop though and hike 1 hour to the last "onsen" practically nobody else would have hiked up so... More
